About this house rental
'Little Neck' is situated on 7 acres of pristine preserve with arguably the most spectacular view of Buzzards Bay looking down the Slocum River. Ospreys, striped bass, sailing, kayaking, swimming, bird watching - a rare piece of Heaven on the South Coast of Massachusetts.
Our spacious New England summer home (now winterized) invites you to sit on the large porch with the above spectacular view, or in the lovely sunroom with picture window views of the river and the bay, binoculars included!
The privacy and comfort of the four en suite bedrooms provides an enjoyable stay for a group of family and friends. The dining room table with its water view seats ten for an easy and delicious dinner of corn-on-the-cob and fresh fish prepared on the large gas grill on the east terrace.
The evening can be spent exploring the large library in the living room, stocked with novels, field guides, TV, movies, and games.
The rental property is the spacious and prominent upper two floors of a large, three-story hillside house; the main rental entry is on ground level. The lower floor apartment, situated below the hill, is occupied by one of the sisters with separate entry and rear parking area. Renters have complete privacy and the lay of the land allows both units to co-exist wonderfully.
Nearby activities include:
-Breakfast, lunch at Davoll's Store & Cafe 5 minutes away,
- swim & fish from our pier, or across the river at the Demarest Lloyd State Park
- rent kayaks to cruise the river
- moor your small sail boat or motor boat on our pier.
- hike on the Lloyd Center for the Environment trails nearby.
- explore historic New Bedford and its Whaling Museum
- shop in the picturesque villages of Westport and Padanaram
- enjoy the art scene this summer in Providence, RI: Waterfire Providence
- tour the mansions in Newport, RI
- sample wine & beer at Westport Winery & Buzzards Bay Brewing
- take the one-hour ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket
- enjoy a day trip to Cape Cod
- - attend live theatre and music at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford
- hike on the many trails of the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust land.
Our guests say:
“ My dad calls the view of the Slocum from the porch 'the lagoon of tranquility' and gazing upon it always has a calming effect…. Thanks to the sisters for keeping LN going and sharing this magical place with us!”
“Thank you for sharing your most beautiful place …we hiked, we biked, kayaked and enjoyed swimming daily and catching up with each other – we loved the privacy and serenity of this very magical place; we leave relaxed and refreshed! Thanks for the home-baked cookies upon arrival and all your generosity. We’d love to return someday. Many, many thanks!”

We loved our stay at Little Neck. Everything was spotless when we arrived and the comprehensive house book made sure we didn't have any questions about the house and the area - from A to Z.
We enjoyed walking around the property and relaxing on the porch with a beverage. The views are to die for!
There are lots of books to read and a piano for those who play. And each bedroom has a private bathroom.
I only wish we could have stayed longer! We can't wait to come back!

The South Shore of Massachusetts is a great place to visit - so many interesting places to hike and kayak and shop and eat and explore....And then to be able to go back to Little Neck and sit on the porch that looks over the mouth of the Slocum River out to Buzzards Bay and the Elizabeth Islands. I can't imagine any place nicer than that!

Six long-time friends spent a splendid week at the house and not one had a complaint, except that Charlotte's cookies ran out too fast.

Little Neck is a beautiful property. The view of where the Slocum River meets Buzzard’s Bay is breathtaking. The living room/sun room/dining room is a great space for family dinners. Each bedroom having its own bathroom is a big plus. Appreciate the responsiveness of the owners to our questions. Thanks!

Idyllic Setting
Little Neck is a serene vacation spot, surrounded on two sides by water and the other two by woods. We loved sitting in the living room or on the front patio looking out at the scenery. We will be back for sure.

Close to… perfect…
Could not have asked for a better stay at a wonderful location with gracious hosts, a superbly equipped kitchen and, by all accounts, comfortable and firm mattresses. Thx Katy & Charlotte

Awesome stay at Little Neck
We had a fantastic time at Little Neck. The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was huge, immaculate, had a very well stocked kitchen and met all of our needs. The decor and family pictures gave the cottage a very homey, charming feeling, as if we had been invited to a friend's home for a bit of a summer's respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The homemade cookies which greeted us were a welcoming and thoughtful touch. We loved sitting on the porch, enjoying the solitude and peacefulness of the area along with all the wildlife that was present. The views of the river/bay from inside the cottage were spectacular. It seemed as if we were far removed from civilization, even though restaurants and grocery stores were an easy 15-20 min drive away. Simply put, Little Neck was a peace of heaven on earth, and we considered ourselves very fortunate to have found such a place for our stay in June 2021!

Beautiful
Wonderful house for a rainy weekend. Stunning view from the main room/porch included ospreys, herons, egrets, sandpipers, a mother deer and faun & many other birds. We kayaked right from the dock and walked the Lloyd Center trails during the few dry intervals- and the board games and extensive library entertained everyone. It's a wonderful location for nature-lovers, and a great house for family get-togethers.

A very special Gathering Place
Gathering in this classic "summer" home over Thanksgiving week would have been perfect during any Thanksgiving, and it was especially perfect to gather here with our family during Covid.
The light, the sunrises, the sunsets, moon rises, the moon sets,
the water, the river wildlife and the comfort of this very special home
were very hard to say good-bye to. We are thankful the wonderful owners are willing to share their home with us.

An Oasis of Peace and Beauty
The Little Neck property is located in a magnificent settings. Our group spent days bird watching, swimming, kayaking, reading, and wandering in what felt like our own nature reserve. The house is made for family gatherings. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing and serving large meals. The common floor plan is open and spacious. The covered porch looking over the water meant that even on rainy days we could sit outside and read, bird watch, and chat. This is a place that brings people together in relaxed and peaceful surroundings.

Blissful weekend
This house could not have a better situation, in terms of privacy, view, access to water and a killer porch that sucked us in for many an hour. The four bedrooms, each with their own bath is great, as is the big dinner table. The house itself is wonderful, with many of the owners' treasures, lots of inspiring books, binoculars and good olive oil. The owner met us and was there if we needed anything, but we didn't. Best weekend, best place, I can't wait to go back!

Nice location, Plenty of room
Had a nicet time at the house. It is an old house that has had very few updates. More like a museum than a rental accommodation. The kitchen was very old and could use a big update and a good cleaning Appliances, pots and pans, microwave, outdoor grill, coffee maker have seen better days The owners were responsive to my requests.
