The overall experience was great. Staff was friendly. The room was nice
It seems it's policy now to hold an extra $100 on your card if you use a debit card. However it seems that in this property the hold it for everyone. It can take up to a week for that to be removed. (I did not use a debit card but it was still put on). The announcement at the front desk said only for debit cards.

The staff were exceptional, especially the front desk and the breakfast bar ladies. They all made me feel like a queen.

Everything from the front desk to the parking lot 😊. One of the best front desk people I have met! All of them. House keeping are amazing as well! Great job in this location with staff Hampton Inn, can't wait for the renovation's so we can see it, maybe this summer break.
We couldn't use the pool... But it wasn't their fault, it's winter.🤷♂️

For a basic room the price was high

That said, we prefer to stay at Hampton Inns because of the incredible amenities like the complimentary breakfast and access to gym facilities. This one met the mark on both counts.
I felt that this particular Hampton Inn fell below the mark of the standard to which we've become accustomed. For example, some of the fixtures in the bathroom needed maintenance. The wooden sink vanity showed scratches all over where the varnish had peeled away, the toilet plumbing showed signs of rust, and the tile work around the base of the toilet seemed to have been done in a hurry.
While these faults could have been overlooked, what we couldn't ignore was that the room itself. The room seemed to lack the air of freshness one might expect in a space that had been recently cleaned in advance of a guest arrival. It didn't smell bad, mind you--I just didn't have that subconscious cue that I was sleeping on freshly laundered sheets or walking on recently vacuumed carpets.
Lastly, I'm not sure if housekeeping accidentally dressed our king bed with a queen sized coverlet that just covered the top of the mattress and didn't drape over the sides. This made for a less than ideal two nights of sleep as we had to negotiate coverage while sleeping at night.

Great breakfast, great staff.
Pool closes early at 8pm. Wish it was at least 9pm like area hotels.

Staff was friendly. Location was ideal for our visit to nearby family.
The hotel is badly in need of updating. Carpet and furniture is old. Rooms smelled musky.
