This spacious home away from home is easily accessed via a large flat driveway. Two small steps up from the driveway and you enter the home from a covered deck. The door leads you into the Great Room with comfortable seating, TV, DVD player, and Stereo. Cable TV and wireless internet are provided. The kitchen and dining area, as well as a 1/2 bath with full size laundry all flow easily off the great room. There is a sliding door that opens up to the large covered and uncovered pool deck. At the far end of the great room is the entrance to the primary bedroom as well as the internal stairway to the lower bedroom. The large primary bedroom has great views and a king size bed with a very comfortable memory foam mattress. A sliding door takes you out to the covered deck. There is a full, private, en suite bath in the master bedroom. The lower bedroom has a queen sized bed and a twin sized day bed with trundle that can expand the day bed into two twin beds or one king sized bed. All mattresses are very comfortable memory foam. There is a sliding door to a private deck with nice views of Fish Bay. There is also a private full en suite bath, closet, and small beverage refrigerator. A short walk from the home brings you to the National Park and Reef Bay. Walk down a short trail and you are on the beach, where, in calm weather, the snorkeling is great. On windier days you can watch the surfers, or hike along the beach, over the low rocks, along a second beach, over a trail to a third beach where the Reef Bay Sugar Mill ruins are located. You can then go up the famed Reef Bay trail to the petroglyphs. For the more adventurous, Reef Bay Trail also connects with other trails that take you to both Europa and Lamshur Bay.
Fish Tales is quiet, comfortable, and only 15 minutes from downtown Cruz Bay. Enjoy!

Wonderful stay!

Fish Tails was an amazing place to stay! We had a 7 month old and a 2 year old with us as well and it worked out great for them. Everything was very clean and well organized. The views were amazing and the pool was perfect for the kiddos. The walk to the beach was very simple. For our two year old, the bed downstairs with the trundle pull out worked perfectly. Plus, she felt like a big girl! Tammy was always available to talk to and so very helpful. Would definitely stay again!

Wonderful place to stay with our family. Very comfortable, plenty of space, equipped with everything we needed. Beautiful view and a perfect little pool for our little kids. Host was extremely responsive and made the experience super easy for us.

Fish Tales was exactly as described! It’s a cozy beach cottage that you can walk into and feel right at home. It’s not fancy but it’s so very charming! The back deck is cut into the rock and the plantings attract hummingbirds that you can watch while hanging out!
Fish Tales is about 15 minutes away from Cruz Bay so if you’re looking for privacy and quietness this is the place for you! The roads between Cruz Bay and Fish Tales are not for the faint of heart but boy do they offer up some stunning views of the island! If you think you might want to get a taxi from Cruz Bay back to Fish Tales, make sure you have the gps coordinates or be able to give exact directions!
The downstairs bedroom is an ample size and easily accommodated our two kids (11 yo boy and 13 yo girl). They had enough space and privacy and the room temperature stays much cooler than the upstairs.
The sunset views from the deck are magical - be prepared for that setting sun to warm up the upstairs of the house! It can be quite warm in the evening in the upstairs bedroom and living area but once the sun is down and it’s time for bed the temperature cools down and it’s ok for sleeping.
The pool is tiny but it was just the right size for cooling off. It fit the four of us just fine - the besta time for pool time is in the mid-afternoon. Any other time and it might be chilly due to the shade.
The kitchen had everything that we needed and the grill worked well. We loved our time here!!

Perfect Getaway
This is a well equipped and very comfortable cottage with a small swimming pool, beautiful view and a great location for exploring St John. I stayed here with my college son and middle school daughter and my husband. There was plenty of room and we were able to grill and cook our own meals. It was a welcome retreat each day after hiking and snorkeling on the island. If I could give it more stars I would.

We had a wonderful stay at Fish Tales! It was everything we needed and hoped for. The little pool was perfect for our children ages 4-10. Tammy was very attentive when we needed her (for minor questions). Overall, a great vacation and we'll be back!

Fun house near Reef Bay
The house has a nice view over fish Bay and out to little St James to the west. It is easy to get to, would recommend 4 wheel drive for St. John. The breeze through the house is wonderful and there are fans in each room. AC in both bedrooms works fine.
It is a short hike from the house down to Reef Bay and then if you are adventurous over to the reef bay trail. We went from there all the way over it little lameshur and snorkeled and came back within a day. The views are amazing!
The neighborhood is clean and safe and there are areas to walk. The property manager and the person who meets you at the ferry and drives with you to the property are very knowledgeable and nice and will take care of any issues. Thanks to the property manager for taking care of us when we were delayed a day because we missed our flight!
We had a blast hiking and going to beaches all over the island and looking at the stars at night out on the deck. Highly recommended!!

Great stay at Fish Bay
Everyone had a great time staying at Fish Bay. The location was nice and quiet with a nice view of the bay and almost-daily rainbows. There is a pond down below with various ducks and wading birds ( and lucky for us a Scarlet Ibis)!!! The cottage had a nice homey and relaxing feel. We had everything we needed to cook or grill with. Coolers to pack lunch for the day and beach towels. Also had a spotting scope, which came in handy for watching the Scarlet Ibis. The pool was nice to come back to after a day of hiking. Everyone at Fish Bay was very prompt in answering any questions we had. A special shout out to Dayna for trying to keep up with our incoming flight being delayed several times,( just catching the last ferry to St.John), and helping us out on our hike!! We traveled all over the Island and were always glad to come back to Fish Bay. Would highly recommend staying here.

Our stay at Fish Tails was absolutely wonderful!! The home was clean, comfortable, and we had everything needed to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal for the holiday. Communication with Tammy was spot on, and we would definitely recommend this stay to anyone coming to St. John.

Enjoyed our St John Fish Tales cottage retreat
Without having any history about the island of St. John, I booked this cottage for our family of 5 (3 teens). Perhaps I might choose a location closer to Cruz Bay next time, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Fish Tales in Fish Bay. We are an adventuresome clan, so this was a bit away from town activities, but if you want quiet and private, this is for you.
We never did find the walking pathway to Reef Bay, but honestly, we didn't look very hard. I am sure it's there somewhere.
The cottage had everything we needed. Well stocked for anything that you may want to cook. The small sitting pool was certainly helpful to cool us down while spending time on the deck Each sleeping area has A/C, but not throughout the whole cottage. That wasn't a big deal, as we spend many days at the public beaches. Kids figured out how to blue tooth their music playlists with the speaker system in the house and outside deck. We loved that!
The place was clean and well cared for. Upon arrival, the welcome lady explained about keeping all food put away, and daily trash removal. Honestly, we didn't really have any issues with any critters looking for food.
Our stay at Fish Bay was pleasant and accommodating. Very comfortable!

Loved it!!!!!
We loved our stay here and the views are even better than expected! I was worried about the fact that there is no ac unit in the main living area ( both bed rooms have ac) but the breeze with the windows open keep the room very comfortable. With that being said we spent all of our time outside on the decks anyway. The pool is more like an over sized swim spa but we loved it so much we are now looking into purchasing one for our owe home. We also loved the surround sound system (indoor/outdoor). We would definitely stay here again.

10 Days in St. John
My wife and I along with our 23 and 15 year old sons thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fish Tales Cottage. The size was perfect for the 4 of us and had plenty of room on the deck to hang out in the evenings. We cooked on the grill and had breakfast most mornings at home. There were only 2 minor issues that we had to contact Tammy about and she took care of them in a matter of hours on the same day. Tammy also stepped up and made sure we had transportation from the ferry to the house since our Jeep we were renting was not available until the day after we arrived.

Great time at Fish Tales
We had a great time at Fish Tales and would definitely rent it again. It is in a quiet, beautiful location. The sunsets were gorgeous. It rained briefly a few of the mornings before breakfast and we were treated to full rainbows. One morning, we had a double full rainbow.

Great Spot
Wonderful property. Great views and super clean. I'd say the only downfall is the drive to get to the beaches out near Coral Bay...as long as you have a vehicle and plan ahead it's all good! Thank you and we will be back again!

A wonderful vacation!!!
The house was perfect for us with kids, and Fish tales is also the cleanest property we have ever rented in the islands. No musty odors and extra comfortable beds. We cooked breakfasts and dinners at home in a surprisingly well appointed kitchen, most places have just a few pots and never a sharp knife but Fish tales had everything we needed including an extra clean Weber gas grill. To be fair we spent most daylight hours exploring all of the beautiful beaches, but our time at the house exceeded expectations. Service by the owner and our greeter were exceptional.

A quiet getaway perfect for adventuresome family of four.
We loved the out-of-the way house in Fish Bay. Definitely rent a Jeep when you stay, as it’s a 20-minute drive from Cruz Bay. The house was perfect for our family and the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. We liked morning walks up and down the nearby roads without fighting traffic, and laying out on the deck at night watching the stars.

Fish Tales
Tammy is super easy to deal with when checking in and out. A few quick texts is all it took. Her familiarity with St. John helped us navigate the in and outs of the island. Fish tales is a beautiful open air oasis with a gorgeous view. The property is not be overlooked! We had a fabulous time.

Awesome time at Fish Tales
The property was perfect for our family of 4. It's situated a couple of miles outside of town near the top of a hillside between two bays (catches good breezes). While I was initially torn between beach side, in town, or up in the hills, I'm now definitively a fan of the hills away from town.
The property is cottage in feel (the pictures give the idea) and immaculately clean. Our two teenagers stayed downstairs and my husband and I took the master. The deck is huge and wonderful. I was worried the pool would be too small, but it was surprisingly perfect for lounging and it was incredible to come back to after hikes or hitting the beaches. We enjoyed the deck and its view so much that we actually grilled and ate dinner outside most nights (instead of hitting restaurants as would be our usual). The kitchen is well stocked with the stuff you need to cook and its a nice grill on the deck so all you really need to do is set up your provisions. If TV and stereo is important to you, it's set up really nice in that department. WiFi worked great.
For driving to it, while all-wheel drive is a really nice thing to have on St. John's and I'll probably do that next time, but we managed pretty fine with a Sentra. I saw other driveways and a couple roads that we didn't go down where that wouldn't have been the case.
One of the really great things is that it's a short walk to a brief, if somewhat steep hiking trail, that hits one of the natural beaches (stunning)- hiking along the beach ties into the park trail system. A bit tricky to figure out the trail tie ins, but way, way worth it if you like stunning hikes that can stretch on as far/long as you like.
We loved our time at Fish Tales and are planning to come back next year.

Family Perfect - exactly as advertised
Family of 4 stayed here for Carnival week in July. We were met at the car ferry and guided to the house by Dyana who also was a wealth of Island info.
The house was perfect for our family. Great views, quiet and tropical. The deck is huge and has plenty of loungers. The tv and stereo system were great.
The house is well stocked from bath towels to beach gear – the extra snorkel fins were awesome. We would definitely come back again and recommend this house to our friends.

We loved Fish Tales!
Fish Tales was perfect for our family of 5. The home is comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for our stay on St. John. There was always a beautiful breeze flowing through the house and the view is awesome. The pool is small, but perfect for relaxing on the deck at the end of the day (and even when we had our morning coffee). Dyana met us at the ferry, brought us to get our jeep, and then took us to the house. It was so nice to have her there when we arrived at STJ. Tammy was very responsive and accommodating as well.

Tropical Paradise
My wife and I stayed here for a week in June. We were met at the car ferry and guided to the house. Along the way we received a very good tour of the local stores and points of interest which turned out to be quite useful. The house itself was amazing when we pulled up, the view of Fish's Bay was wonderful and it was very quiet and peaceful. Currently the local utility company is replacing all wooden telephone, so that was a bit noisy during the day, but they were moving quickly, so perhaps 1 or 2 more weeks of daytime noise and they will be gone. The deck was huge and offered plenty of space to relax on. We ate all of our meals out there as well. The tv and stereo system worked well, we listened to a lot of music on the deck.
There was a great breeze that came down the driveway which kept the house cool. We did use the A.C. at night in the bedroom. The house was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay, from bath towels to beach gear. My wife and I both felt we were in a tropical rural area, so it was very quiet, peaceful and scenic. However we were just 15 minutes from Cruz Bay with its shops and restaurants. It was quite easy to go there to grab food or go out to dinner. The drive to the North Shore beaches was quite easy and we took numerous routes to get to the them. We did not do much hiking while we were there as it was a bit too hot for us. We would definitely come back again and recommend this house to our friends.

Another terrific vacation at Fish Tales villa!
This will be the second time my wife and I have stayed at Fish Tales villa and it continues to impress. We are 10+ year annual STJ visitors and have stayed at several places. Fish Tales is a great combination of value & quality in a villa. The price is right and the condition of the property is top notch - everything works as it should and there are several nice amenities. Tammy the manager is always very responsive and helpful. We will be returning again :)

Another week in paradise!
This was the 4th year we've spent 1-2 weeks at Fish Tales on St. John, USVI. After last year we were glad to see the island has recovered from the hurricanes of 2017. Fish Tales is the perfect house for up to six people/two families. The master suite on the main level is perfect for two, and the lower level will sleep a second family of 3 or 4. WiFi is good, but the TV is a little tricky to operate. The plunge pool is perfect for the end of the day, and the deck is extensive with a great view. We look forward to returning next year.

JUST DO IT
Each day Jane and I hiked, snorkeled came home to Fish Tales made pinia coladas read our books and listened to Christmas music before eating. When we were to tired to sleep we watched the Gemined meteor shower. OH, this Year we volunteered 2 days with friends of the park, to clear trails, which was most rewarding. Yes, there is shopping, restaurants and all is up and running after the storm.
The home is great the manager is great and we've been coming here for years.

Loved it! Hope to come back
We stayed at Fish Tales Nov 17-22 and would recommend it to anyone. The house is about a 15-20 minute drive from Cruz Bay and was perfect for us. It is a quiet area with plenty of privacy and easy to get to. There are some steep roads on the way there but you get used to it fast. Tammy is a great host and was available for any questions we had.
We stayed with another couple and had plenty of space. We particularly enjoyed hanging out on the spacious deck after long days at the beaches. We cooked at the house a couple of nights and found it had all the essentials we needed.
Again, I highly recommend Fish Tales and hope to be back soon!

A little slice of paradise!
My husband and I stayed here May 23 - 30, 2018 with another couple. We had just moved up here from a week's stay in downtown Cruz Bay. The temperature was at least 10 degrees cooler at night with the breezes flowing through the house at night. If it was a couple degrees cooler you could probably do without the air at night. It is well stocked with spices, trash bags, toliet paper, dish detergent, and washing detergent. We did have to buy one roll of paper towels as we ran out after the first roll. There is a help yourself shelf where previous guests leave their sunscreen and bug spray. The pool is very small but does the job of cooling you off. We saw lots of geckos, birds, and a few deer. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect getaway
We enjoyed our stay at Fish Tales. The house was very comfortable for our group of 5 adults and 1 infant. The location is quiet and more residential than the areas closest to Cruz Bay which is exactly what we were looking for and the view of Fish Bay was beautiful. We will definitely be back!

Fish Tales is a terrific villa in St John USVI
Fish Tales villa and Tammy were excellent and exceeded our expectations! Post-hurricane TV and internet were still not available but that didn't bother us at all. We read books and spent time chatting on the expansive deck. Everything at the villa is in excellent condition, clean and accommodating. We visited the local restaurants for most meals to do our part in helping the economy. We purchased other daily food/drink at the local grocery stores + Sam & Jacks deli which is always terrific! We found the stores well-stocked and ready for us. Tammy is a terrific hostess and checked on us several times through a couple minor power outages which was great - we were prepared and happy - using the time to catch up on extra sleep. We found the beaches & water to be just as beautiful as always and were so excited to be able to come stay at Fish Tales for our annual STJ vacation! Paying it forward, we left a couple beach sun shelters at the villa for use by future guests. We will be back! :)

Nice quiet getaway
My husband and I and two others stayed at fish tales this past week and LOVED it! We definitely had to rent a jeep, as the house is about 15 mins out of downtown, which was great for us we hate crowded places.
The house itself was very clean and spacious! Lots of chairs to lounge around on on the deck.
Only thing I would warn is that we were under the impression that the beach was a shorter walk away down a hill, well it's quite a walk and a very steep hill with rocks and roots, and the beach is gorgeous but not able to actual swim there due to rocks and urchins and etc. this wouldn't have been a problem for my husband nor I but one of the members of a group had a bad knee and the other was a little older and neither were able to make the hike down to the water. And not being able to swim at a beach walking distance to the house was alittle disappointing, but obviously there are TONS of gorgeous beaches on this island and all just a short car ride away!
The house was fully stocked with dishes and towels, and a great surprise was a cooler and beach chairs which was awesome!!
Overall we would come back and highly recommend this place to our friends and family!
