It is hard to predict winter weather, and sometimes you can expect sunny, warm days following heavy snowfalls.
Our house is accessible throughout the entire winter; however, sometimes snow drifts might obstruct the short road leading to our house, which is located just 30 meters from the regularly cleaned/plowed public road. The public road services work well, and our street just outside the gate is plowed as needed, usually within a couple of hours after the snow ends.
While the main road is promptly cleared by public services, it's essential to note that private roads, such as the one leading to our house, are not regularly maintained during winter, only after the end of a heavy snowfalls.
To overcome potential challenges, we recommend parking your car near the post box (as many locals do) on the well-cleared public road and walking the last 30 meters to the house on foot when the snow conditions make driving difficult. Alternatively, guests have the option to arrange clearing by a tractor/plow from a neighboring farmer for an extra fee.

Our family of 5 stayed here while doing a road trip around the ring road. Overall I’ll give our stay a 5/5. The house was very spacious, had every amenity you could ask for, and was just a few minutes drive from downtown Akureyri. The beds were very comfortable, the house was clean, and we really enjoyed the espresso maker this house had. I would highly recommend this house!

The house is big and has a great view over Akureyri. However it is a bit dated and the outdoor area could use some love and attention as well.

Beautiful view and perfect house for our group of 12.

This house exceeded our expectations -- there was nothing missing in the kitchen or anywhere else. If you are a wine drinker you will love this house and the bonus room. Comfortable beds and loads of room to relax and unwind. Host was easy to communicate with. Thank you

We had an amazing stay in this magnificent house. Amazing view overlooking the fjords and Akureyri. Quiet, yet beautiful area all around with wonderful people.

After not being able to find the place for about 15 minutes in the dark at 10:30pm, called no answer. Kept messaging and getting links that didn’t work. Called VRBO and paid for them to call host, no answer. Finally just drove around until we found it.
Nice house with hot heated floor. Couldn’t figure out how to turn down the heat. Lights stayed on outside, so if the aurora had been out wouldn’t have seen it. Maybe motion lights?
The house is nice. But, a little “cold” feeling. Not homey. Nice area. Comfy beds. No washcloths. Would be great for a large family.
We killed at least 9 flies!

The beautiful home is centrally located in the capital of the north. All the wonders of nature are within a comfortable drive. The town of Akureyri is lovely and offers many dining options. The Forest Lagoon is literally three minutes from the property. Four adult couples had plenty of room and all enjoyed the stay.

Very nice to have all the comforts of home would of loved to stay for more nights.

I can’t say enough about this property or the host. The home itself is exceptional - warm, comfortable furnishings, exquisitely decorated, chefs kitchen, options for both privacy and shared time together, every modern convenience. The sun room is amazing and the views from almost every window of the mountains in the background towering over the city are amazing. And accessing the home was a pleasure. The host - Vladis - is a thoughtful, kind and informative owner. He allowed us to adjust our reservation when plans changed, provided terrific tips and local recommendations, and was timely and clear in all communications. Our family has used VRBO for dozens of rentals over the past 8-10 years, and have stayed in many lovely homes, but this was hands down the best experience of all. Highest recommendation.

If you are traveling with a large group this is the perfect place to stay. We were there with my mom, my sister’s family and my family for a total of 9. It was spacious and comfortable and everything is very high end. The house is located high on the hill across the bay from downtown Akureyri, allowing for the most amazing views of the bay. It’s a great location to access the gems of the diamond circle and quaint fishing villages. The host responded to questions quickly and checked in with us just before our stay. I would recommend this house for anyone that is looking for a luxurious stay in Iceland.

My 5 friends and I had a wonderful stay at this villa. The house is luxurious and had an amazing view. Everything was clean and as described. The house is less than 10 minutes away from the Akureyri center by car, which we found to be just the right distance. The price for your stay is based on how many bedrooms you will use, as mentioned in the booking description, so remember to get back to the host with the correct information (as I had forgotten to do with all my trip planning)
If you are driving from the east, note that the closest way to the house is through the only toll tunnel in Iceland. You can avoid it with a scenic 15 minute workaround.

We had a nice stay for 2 nights at the house. Great views of Akureyri. Location was very easy to find and check-in was easy. The house was just as described in the listing. The hosts were very accommodating. We left a bag and did not realize until we were hours down the road. The hosts arranged for the bag to be sent to Reykjavik for us to pick up before we flew out a few days later. Greatly appreciated and highly recommend!!

Beautiful home with heated tile floors, hot geothermal water, floor to ceiling windows with gorgeous views. Great communication, stocked kitchen and laundry perfect for our mid vacation reset! Lots of rooms to be separate or together, three full bathrooms. Easy access to everywhere in the North so was perfect to settle in for a few days, unpack and have fun.

Great house, large with wonderful, well equipped kitchen. The view was fantastic! Easy to find, plenty of parking. The laundry room was magnificent and easy to use.
Would definitely recommend and plan to return. Great hosts!

The house suited our needs well for a group with 6 adults and 1 teenager. Everytjing was clean, and access to the house was easy. Plenty of information of the surrounding area was given to us before arriving, giving us ideas of things to see and do. We were also lucky enough to get a good show of the Northern Lights! If you in this area, the house is nicer than the pictures, you won't be dissapointed!

Advertizes for large house, charges per person and locks other rooms
This house was listed as a 5 bedroom home for $114 a night. Upon arrival, we found that every door in the home was locked to all the bedrooms except one. The fact that you have to pay for each additional person ($50 more per person to price) i feel like that is false advertisement and really put a damper on our stay. In addition, the dryer didn’t work and we were camping so we really needed to wash our clothes that night. We would have picked somewhere else had we known. Most hosts would offer a discount for such a large feature being unavailable to us. It seemed like it was more about the money for them and not the experience of the stay. Nice house, sneaky owners.

Canadian review
The house was very clean and in a beautiful setting. However, the bedroom we were allowed in was toward the back of the property and had a very small bathroom. The shower in the bathroom was too complicated to use. The hall bath was adequate. The rest of the upstairs rooms were locked and not available.

Beautiful location
This home was beautiful and well kept. The neighborhood was quiet and had an incredible view of the city. The hostess was very helpful; she was traveling, but was good at responding to our questions when she could access service, and we had a lot of questions for her (where things were, etc.). The only drawback was that the listing showed we would have access to a washer and dryer, but the dryer was broken and looked like it had been for a while. We enjoyed our stay here, it was truly beautiful.

Beautiful home
7 women, plenty of room. The house was gorgeous and the view was amazing.
The second bathroom is very small and the shower was cramped and too high tech. Other than the bathroom situation the house is nice and I would recommend it to anyone. It is also very convenient.

Beautiful home overlooking Akureyri
This was such a wonderful experience staying in this big and beautiful home! It had such a beautiful view of the city below. It was spacious, open, clean, and very comfortable. Easy check in and out. The host was very kind and communicative. Would recommend staying here more than one night.

OMG Are you serious?
This is a beautiful house overlooking Akureyri. Great kitchen, great views . Great for exploring the North Iceland area. But, only 4 towels. Two people for 3 days might need more than 4 bath towels. Kitchen is well equipped but after 3 days still couldn’t figure out the microwave oven works.
That being said I would come back outstanding location!!!

Beautiful and relaxing, even in the dead of winter!!!
My family and I were looking for a beautiful place to relax together, and this place was perfect! The beds are cozy, the view is beautiful, the kitchen is very well-appointed, and Akureyri is a wonderful town!!

House with a view!
Aukreyri was our base for 2 nights while experiencing northern Iceland and this home was lovely! Big bedrooms and bathrooms and huge well stocked kitchen. The view over Aukreyri was amazing and it was easy to get to where we needed to be. Great communication with Ana and I would recommend this home to any group of friends (or family.)
