Alles sauber. Kaffeemaschine, Wasserkocher, Herdplatten, Toaster und Kühlschrank vorhanden.

Very good location near the diamond circle.
Clean rooms.
Clean shared kitchen and a lot of cooking equipment available.
Location was about 6km away from the place, but its not a big deal since you're driving.

Very offside, small shared WC.

The general deceit of all aspects of the advertised property, including the positive reviews that we could not believe once we arrived. Yes, we had 2 beds, but access to the room was so tight that you had to enter one at a time like a cattle gate. There was no room to move around if you brought more than a small rucksack. The only place for the cases was in the bathroom. The floors were of granite but were dirty (black from dirt). I cleaned some of the grime away to prove it was not part of the granite. Plastic beakers were provided by the wash basin, also dirty. There was en eating area in a separate building, with an attached self service kitchen - this was also dirty. The pictures showed totally different accommodation from what we received. The views from the advertised room were not special but what we got were effectively basement windows - no view.
The promoted facilities - play area, sports, not available. Myvatn is an hour away but there are better and cheaper accommodations at and around the lake of Myvatn itself. There was no real benefit to being able to see Dettifos from the east, the west side had better access and more to see.
Breakfast was offered at 25euro per person for which you had to drive a dirt track of 20km (10km each way), to get it.
At 240euro this was the most expensive night of our 3 week trip to Iceland.
We really cannot recommend Grimstunga..
I have supplied 3 photos: showing the width of the room and the limited access of the entrance, taken from the bathroom, the shower floor, and one of the dirty beakers (photographed from the top). This is truly what the insside of the glass beaker looked like. It is not a picture taken with something under the glass to make it look dirty.

Lots of light and it was clean
We had gone to see waterfall on same road prior to checking in. Had to drive 7km to get a piece of paper that said room number and then drive back up the road 7 km to accommodation. It would be more convenient if you emailed the room number with instructions on how to find the location and where kitchen is located.

The Host is very hospitable.

Our room was cute and clean. I'm not going to lie, we got in late and left early, so there wasn't a ton of time that we were hanging out there, but all of our needs were met and it was a great location.
Our room was weirdly too hot, and we struggled to figure out how to cool it off without opening the windows and letting in bugs.

Confortable and clean room with great view, perfect cooking facility, perfect place to stop before dettifoss or asbrygi canyon
Everything was fine

it was clean and had a good view
it was hard to find the place as it’s not really listed on google maps. but the staff sorted me out

We were put to the Holssel site instead of Grimstunga. The place is great! It is a totally isolated location, no other buildings around.
The room was super large, clean, light (with huge windows facing two sides), with a very nice view on the river and a terrace.
The price was a bit too high considering that we didn't have breakfast included. When booking, I didn't notice that this room is located not at Grimstunga but at Holssel (I wish that info was more prominent in the description). Hollsel is a bit far from the circle road (though it's a great location for those visiting the waterfall along road 864).

No breakfast or dinner available. The place is really in the middle of nowhere.

Just be aware that Holssel Road 864 and Grimstunga Guesthouse are owned by the same company and that if you want a private bathroom you will be housed in Holssel Road. We booked one night at each and got really confused looking for Grímstunga the second night (which we’d book separately a bit later than Holssel road), and didn’t understand why we were told to go to Holssel (we’d booked for a private bathroom for each) . First night we were in a cabin which slept 3 and which was fabulous, and the second night in the main building where the rooms were for 2 people and smaller. The location is what we really liked - very handy for Dettifoss and for Mývatn and had good facilities. It is on a gravel road but which is well maintained.
The kitchen got very crowded the second night, and we had to wait for people to finish cooking as there wasn’t enough room. I thought the Grímstunga booking was a little pricey for the amount of room that we had.

Access to the property is via a 10km long gravel road.
Noise from other guests can be heard easily.

self checkin, it was clean
Remote location, 10km further than advertised (unpaved road), too small rooms, no kettle in the room.

New comfortable room with a fantastic view.
The price is too high compared to similar facilities in Iceland. Unclear way to pick up the keys,

The accommodations were incredibly clean, quiet and easy to get to, although you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. The room had an incredible view and was spacious. Would highly recommend.

The view from the room and entire apartment was great (was snowy)
the room was large, there was a fully equipped kitchen and dining area
We were in October and the location was problematic for 2 reasons:
One- The access road to the house was snowy (Oct), and it was really difficult to drive the car on the access road (and you need 4x4 vehicle when there is snow) and it was also difficult to find the house, because the road was covered in snow. We called the owner and he helped us find the house and also cleared the road of some of the snow.
Two- road 864 to detifoss where the hotel is located is closed in winter, so it was not as good a location as we thought.

This was the only place I stayed that had a tv in the bedroom and the shower and bathroom attached to my room so the facilities were very good for a low budget solo traveller like myself.
The road to the property is so bad!!!!!! It is really out in the middle of nowhere. i had to drive a ways on one terrible road just to check in then drive a ways on another terrible road to get to my room. It was late at night too, and I wasn’t using data on my phone so it was a little scary and I was unsure if I was going the right way. I just wish they could fix those roads. there were SO many potholes. If I did it over I’d probably just pay more and stay closer to Myvatn.

really nice stuff, he also helped us to get to the street with his pickup, because of the snow.
place is very nice

Shared kitchen is like a restaurant in itself. You can literally cook anything and enjoy your meal in peace. We were given a different property in Holssel but the directions were given beforehand. Only reachable if you're driving a car, there was hardly civilization in a 10-15km radius! Peaceful stay (apart from the howling noises that the wind at 65km/h made that night)

eveything is new and clean, room big with good facilities
location stay bit far from location

It has clean and well-equipped rooms and two shared bathrooms. The common areas were a little bit crowded.

clean, furnished kitchen

Quiet place out in the open countryside not far from Dettifoss waterfalls. Good beds & linen. Adequately equipped kitchen and bathrooms.
Awfully pot-holed driveway. Overly expensive evening meal of tasteless sandwiches, tinned soup and simple salad.
4.5
Friendly staff. They offer a delicious, homemade dinner feast consisting of soup, main dishes, and desserts - well worth the $ for the food offered as well as the experience. The rooms themselves are very modern and new.
The location of the lodging is 7km down a rough dirt road away from the reception (and location of dinner). The rooms were a bit tight but typical for Iceland.

Bedrooms were ok in terms of its size for 1 night. There was netflix available on the tv which was a nice surprise.
Bathrooms were spacious. 2 bathrooms per 5 rooms.
Kitchen was well equipped to make simple meals and dining area looked onto the property which was nice. There was oil and some basic seasonings which was very helpful. Get your groceries beforehand!
Staff that greeted us was very friendly.
The potholes on the road leading into the property.
No restaurants close by - though the property does offer breakfast and dinner if you wanted that option. If not the kitchen is sufficient for making your own meal.
