Beautiful historic property. Check in was a breeze and we were given a tour. 5 minute walk to town, shopping, and great restaurants. Highly recommend and would stay again.

We enjoyed the cabin. It was great for our family of four plus my dad. We had easy access to the train station in Glasgow where we were able to visit some Highland Games. It was also close enough to Edinburgh that we spent two days there and in surrounding areas. The only down side was the lack of WiFi. If you’re from Scotland and are just looking for a getaway, this won’t be a big deal. However, we were trying to plan our time here, and not having working WiFi made it very difficult since our international data had run out, and we were only left with low speed connection from our phone service. The listing says there is WiFi, but we got kicked off as soon as we got connected (IF we could get connected.) You’ll also need to bring or buy whatever you’re going to need while there. We purchased paper towels and laundry soap, and there was only one hand soap for the three sinks, so we had to go to it when we were done in a different bathroom. Those were the only down sides though, and they were certainly manageable.
We would definitely stay here again. The view was beautiful! The sheep nearby were so neat. I suppose if you’re from Scotland, you’re used to seeing sheep everywhere. We don’t really have them in the states though. We see deer and coyotes mainly. The kids also loved the hot tub. They’ve been wanting to swim since we got to Europe, but it’s been too cold, and we haven’t had a place with a pool. This was the perfect compromise.
100% would stay again!

Lovely building with warm and friendly priperty manager. Large apartment, but wasn’t quite as listed. There were not 3 bedrooms; one was a loft at the top which was exposed to the noise down below in the living, dining rooms and kitchen. And there were not two king beds. The master en suite only was a double, which my husband and I had to sleep in since the large bed upstairs was a loft and with too many stairs. Sleeping was very uncomfortable since my husband and I don’t fit in a double. He’s 6’5”” and I’m 5’9”. Although we loved the property and village, I wouldn’t have picked this apartment had I known about the bed sizes and lack of s 3rd room. It was not as advertised.

Had a great stay. Loved the location. A family get away for my fathers 80th, we were able to get two apartments together, which allowed the benefits of renting a much bigger place. The views from the windows were stunning and the size of the rooms were good.

Beautiful location
Beautiful location but we weren't prepared for the 51 steps up to the property with no lift. Double bed in en-suite room very hard but king size on mezzanine floor excellent (except for us OAPs having to go down and upstairs to the loo in the night!) Unfortunately dirty* towels had not been removed from behind the twin room door and family bathroom. The carpet in the living/dining rom was filthy* and when we brought it to the attention of property management, they admitted it had been like that for a long time. "Historical", they said. Not good enough for what is billed as a luxury apartment. We celebrated my husband's 80th birthday with a mea at the Boathouse which was vey good. Staff and other guests were good at sticking to Covid restrictions which was good. Obviously we were disappointed not to be able to have our family stay with us in the apartment and had to fork out extra for their accommodation elsewhere. Kitchen utensils were good but the welcome food package consisted of a small carton of milk, tea bags and sugar. The local shop was well stocked but expensive. The abbey grounds were interesting and enjoyed reading about the history. Beautiful location - pity about the not being able to use all its facilities and disappointed in the lack of luxury. ** photos available

Winter Break - Loch Ness
We enjoyed our trip.
Spacious and functional accommodations.
Location was ideal, we appreciated the grocery store nearby.

It is an incredible place. So many positives. The grounds and buildings. The swimming pool and full size snooker table. On site restaurant. On the shore of Loch Ness. A beautiful location within a short walk from town. Ft Augustus is quite small with limited resources but the locks on the canal are worth seeing. Even the unpredictable Scottish weather couldn’t dampen our vacation.

Lack of sleep - attention to detail
I would like to start off on a positive note. We had a good welcome from Charles Canning, and the gifts were a nice touch, thank you.
The setting and venue is amazing, beautiful and serene, plenty to do, and on the whole our apartment was clean and tidy, if a little tired looking.
However please note the following:
When I called and emailed as instructed to give our estimated time of arrival, I left several messages for Charles and had no response to some queries prior to arriving. When we arrived, he did inform me he had received the message but forgot to respond - not good enough.
MATTRESSES - in the twin and master bedroom especially, the mattresses were awful, they were not just a little uncomfortable, but very. Three out of four of us slept very badly for the 6 nights were were there. This is simply not good enough, especially when a previous review had been left for us to see saying exactly the same.
Painting of the walls in the hall outside our front door. Unfortunately the smell was re pungent and smelled of faeces, I have never in my life smelled paint odours like this. As it also came through to the apartment, it made it unpleasant for a couple of days.
The gym was well equipped but again attention to detail is required. On a health and safety note, you should have displayed on the walls or in a book, the instructions on how to use equipment, for all equipment, including the weights.
The water cooler in the gym, the taps to it were filthy, I had to clean this myself thoroughly prior to use. The batteries to the TV were missing. Again attention to detail.

Gary’s from co. Londonderry .
Really enjoyed the stay... the apartment could have done with a coat of paint throughout however.. also the drawers in one of the bedrooms need replaced otherwise very good all round. Small criticism in an otherwise lovely spot ..

Fantastic stay in the abbey
We enjoyed our stay in the abbey and didn’t want to leave. Charles was very helpfull. The abbey and appartement were both lovely, as were the swimming pool and the community room. We definitely wish to come back to the abbey

Abbey stay, excellent location
Just as the others explained: superb stay at an excellent location. The amenities are good and the staff was super. Meanwhile if you can improve a little on the heating. :)
Looking forward to come back again.

Rejuvenating stay.
St. Benedict's Abbey was rejuvenating. Stunning views, remarkable accommodations and fun areas to explore made for the perfect holiday get away. We loved the sausage rolls and cheese and onion pasties sold at a nearby butcher shop. There was something very healing about the abbey and Ft. Augustus.
