Amazing property tucked away on a quaint and quiet street. Loads of space. Very reasonable policies and amazing communication from Spenser (owner’s son who manages the property). Kind and accommodating. We would love to be back and would highly recommend.

This house was nostalgic and homey. Overall, we were very pleased and hope to visit again. It comfortably housed approximately 14 of us ranging from 3 years old to mid 50’s. It was fully stocked and prepped for people to stay; from kitchen appliances and supplies, to sheets, linens, and towels, even box fans- which is a must for us! One draw back was not having a bedroom on the lower level as one in our group has a medical condition that limits her mobility, but it was not a dealbreaker. The home was very clean. Spenser was very communicative and accommodating. The neighbors were close, but friendly. The location was amazing. 5 minutes to a local park with a beach and park. 10 minutes to Cedar Point. 5 to 10 minutes from Kroger, WalMart, and Mejier. Approximately 20-30 minutes to Catawba Island which hosts several orchards, wineries, and breweries. One favorite was Twin Oast Brewing. Amazing atmosphere! Also approximately 15-20 minutes to Port Clinton for the 30 minute ferry ride to Put-In-Bay.

We shared wonderful memories here! The host quickly and efficiently responded to questions and/or needs. A friendly squirrel greeted us and took nuts from our hands. Very roomy with many areas to spread out for quiet moments, yet gather together for meals and ping pong or to shoot pool. A private beach and play ground and of course Cedar Point just 10 minutes away. Reasonable pricing and all the amenities necessary.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Buster Brown house. we especially enjoyed the back yard and wrap around porch. The property was just as it was described by the owner. The property manager Spenser was very helpful and responded to any of our promptly. It was a great relaxing stay with Sawmill Creek Golf and Cedar Point very close by. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare and store meals for 13 people. We just wished we had a crockpot and airfryer. The only improvements we would suggest is an upgrade of gueen beds from doubles.

The house has everything you needs for cooking, sleeping, playing and relaxing.
The squirrels and ducks were entertaining. They were lots of fun to feed. The water view was just great. I can’t say anything negative. Also Spenser was quick to resolve any questions. Great week for the whole family.

Very nice stay. Bird watching from the inside porch was excellent. We had twelve people attend and all were very happy with the accommodations. The online description was spot on.

This house was plenty big for the 9 adults and 6 kids. The pool table was a hit with adults and kids. The propane grill worked well for our two nights of cooking out. I particularly enjoyed the sun room with the view of the lake. We all fit at the large dining room table. Even the 10 month old sat with us in the high chair provided. The air conditioning worked very well even on hot days. The wicker furniture on the screened in porch was used frequently for great conversions. We only had one bonfire but it was very fun. The wood provided worked well and the seating arrangement was just perfect. Delicious s’mores were made! The kids had lots of room to play outside and made many trips to the park to play and swim. We also went to Nickle Plate Beach one afternoon and the sandy bottom of the lake was great. Just pay $7.00 for parking. The house is a great place to stay with it being so close to Cedar Point. The beach at Rye Beach park is pretty rocky as you walk into the water but once out in the deep it’s okay. The owner was responsive and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief but comfortable stay! Three families from CT, VA and PA met at the house en route to a family wedding in South Bend. We enjoyed sunsets over the lake, lots of pool and ping pong and a day full of roller coasters at Cedar Point (only 12min away)! There was plenty of space for everyone to hang out and be comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were so well stocked - thank you!! There weren't quite as many beds as advertised but we made due on couches (not sleeper sofas). The six bedrooms were AWESOME to spread out kids and the quirky, historical details in the architecture were so fun to explore. The firepit was EXCELLENT - and provided extended space for adults! Thank you!!

David was very accessible for any questions. All the room made it a spectacular option for our group who were volunteering for a convention at sawmill creek lodging nearby. Loved having a large table for us all to gather around and sitting on the wrap around porch

We were in town for a National Walleye Tournament and had 4 teams staying at the property. So much room and great accommodations for a group of 9 people. We had 4 boats and parking was tough but the owners were awesome for accommodating us. The neighbor were all great putting up with us also. Would absolutely rent again!

We had a wonderful experience. Dave, the property owner, was great. He kept in touch and had excellent information for us. If we had any questions he immediately got in touch with me. The house was big, with so many different spaces to hang out in, and the lake was so close, what a beautiful view! The ping pong table, basketball free throw game and pool table kept everyone busy. Would definitely stay there again! Already sent my friend a picture and info so she can check it out for her large extended family!

We had a wonderful trip! Lots of bedrooms and beds for our whole gang. We really enjoyed sitting outside by the fire pit and the swing by the water. I had the bedroom that overlooked the water and it was so nice listening to the waves at night. Oh Yea, the wrap around porch was fabulous.

We stayed at the Buster Brown Shoe House tor an extended family vacation. We had a total of 12 people, ages 10 and up.
The home was in a great location! Beautiful views of Lake Erie from the home and just steps away. Easy access to the highway and minutes away from food, groceries and attractions. While we planned to check out some of the local beaches we never ended up going anywhere other than the local Rye beach area. The pier was perfect for fishing and the beach was small but adequate. Bring tubes to float in lagoon, or pick them up when you arrive. We went to a local 5 below store and grabbed some for our group. The neighborhood is nice for walks and the people are very friendly.
The bedrooms are very large, but the beds small (as listed in the description they are all full size beds except the master bedroom and the bunk beds). We knew this coming in but it was still an adjustment! It is also worth noting that the house is old, the floors do creak and when you have a lot of people and a bathroom in a central location it is loud especially at night! I would also recommend bringing extra extension cords or a multiple plug charger, outlets were limited in the bedrooms.
The pool table was a huge hit for our family and we loved a table big enough for everyone to share a meal. The front wrap around porch was a fan favorite and we spent a ton of time there!
Overall highly recommend this location for a relaxing lake vacation!

We stayed at the Buster Brown Shoe House for a week long extended family vacation. The location was perfect for those of us venturing into Cedar Point (about 15 minutes away), as well as those interested in sight seeing around the area. We had plenty of space for our family of 15. The house was clean and well stocked. We would absolutely stay here again for another trip!

Every year for memorial day weekend, we rent a house on the lake. This house was absolutely amazing! The neighborhood is super cute, with just a small walk to a park and beach area. Any questions or concerns we had were answered quickly

There is so much to do for all ages. We had a great time. Beautiful views. Love that the park is close for the kids too. The owners are very responsive and helpful. We would love to stay there again.

We were very pleased to see that the house was clean. The owner had left a generous supply of paper towels and toilet paper for our stay along with laundry detergents and dish soaps. We did have to bring our own shampoos. There were more than enough towels. The location was quiet, we enjoyed the outdoor fire (with wood supplied) and gazebo. The nearby park a walking distance away was a treat as well with beautiful lake view and a playground to keep the kids entertained. The ping pong and pool table in the house were used as well.
Only downside is the house is older so it squeaks a lot when people move around upstairs but that is to be expected, also lots of bugs outside in the area.
Owner was available by phone to respond to any needs we had however it was a smooth stay and we didn't need to bother him.
Will consider staying here again as there is plenty to do in the area and the house meets our needs.

Amazing Vacation Home
This home was perfect for our family vacation/reunion. We have 7 adult children and 6 grandchildren and there was more than enough room for all of us plus 3 spouse/significant others. Loved the many places throughout the home that we could sit and visit with each other in both small groups and large. The yard area was ample, and the grandkids even set up a tent and slept out one night. We especially loved the gazebo facing the lake. We had family pictures done there and they turned out great. Dave and his son were super helpful addressing our requests. I highly recommend this home!

PERFECT FAMILY REUNION HOUSE!
I rented this house as a surprise for my husband's 60th Birthday. We had family members fly in from MA, IL, CA and NH to celebrate. The house was large enough to fit all 10 people comfortably at night, and 20 people during the party. We enjoyed nights out by the fire pit, and lots of activities around the pool table, ping pong table, and oversized kitchen table appropriate for large games! This home was so comfortable! It was an oversized home by the lake, with all of the charm of yesteryear. All of the rooms were oversized, and there was plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need to cook, and there were 2 refrigerators - 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the garage. Also, my family really enjoyed playing cornhole, which was also provided! We created some amazing family memories at this property, and we all decided that we can't wait to come back. We are planning to rent this house again next year!
