The house has everything you need. Kitchen well stocked and good outdoor space. Maryanne was extremely helpful and helped us out with bikes and more propane for grilling. The mattresses are too soft and the house plus stairs to the beach could use a bit of updating. We didn't use the AC yet it was nice to know we had it. Overall, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and the views from the beach. Good place for a family get together!

We enjoyed out stay at the lake house. We visited for the solar eclipse. Exactly as advertised.

Attended my nephew's wedding. It took place at St Anne's Shrine. Location was perfect only 3 minutes away! Host's were accommodating to check in a little early and had some sweet gifts. Needed beds for up to 6 and 2 bathrooms a must. Very adequate. If you remember your Grandparents camp by the lake, very comfortable but dated. I agree with one of the reviews that the shrubs are unkempt and block the lake view. Water pressure was VERY low. All in all a nice stay.

The hosts are very nice and informative. We enjoyed our stay in Isle La Motte. But, the house is very old and, it needs to be updated.

The property is in a great location, and has all the necessary amenities (and more). We were able to spend a lot of time relaxing at the lake. The communication with the owners was excellent. Scott and Marylouise are both wonderful people, and attentive to everything. We would definitely rent here again if back in the Lake Champlain area.

So much fun!! Kayaking was the best!!

Our ages were late 70's and 80's. One of us cannot climb stairs. The downstairs bedroom was important. Everything that we needed was provided. The best feature of the house is the owners; they made the place feel like we were just using a friend's lake house for the week. They respond to any need at any time. We locked ourselves out twice! No problem. It's a charming old house, very comfortable. We highly recommend it.

“Dated “ but quite large , comfortable , well-equipped home— the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to bake and cook- just like my home kitchen and what I need to cook for family meals. Quiet, peaceful west shore location — quiet and private , large beach. Exceptionally kind, helpful and thoughtful hosts. Our second summer here- we’ll be returning since we have family/ friends on ILM.

My wife and I and another couple spent a week at this place.
The positives:
Great location and neighborhood!
Sunsets were spectacular!
Marylouise and Scott are very nice people
Kitchen was well-equipped
Improvements needed:
I must admit that given all the five star ratings on this property our expectations were high, but what we found was definitely not up to other 5 star VRBOs at which we have stayed.
Overall, the place is in need of more than just casual surface updating. Things like a screen door with a broken hinge, tiles missing from the kitchen floor and the existing tiles cracking and discolored, a bathroom storage unit delaminating near the tub/shower, bedroom shag carpet way past it’s useful life, windows that would not open or when opened, would not stay open, water pressure so low in the first floor bath that showers took forever.
Temps during our stay were in the 70s during the day and fell to the fifties at night, so the house stayed comfortable. On our last day, temps got into the eighties and stayed in the high sixties that night and the house was on the edge of being uncomfortable. The air conditioner in the lower bedroom was not installed.
The outdoor furniture was dirty so we had to scrub it to sit on it. The bushes off the front deck were about 12-15 feet high and about as broad, obscuring the view to the lake from the deck and house, so we spent much of our time outside on the lawn. The VRBO picture of the house must have been taken some years ago.

We had such a great time in VT. Scott and Marilouise were super welcoming and answered all of our questions, while offering us with resources of things to do in the island. The house provides such incredible views and the sunset is gorgeous every time. Hope to be back soon. Thanks for everything. Marcia and Al

A 4 day weekend provided by Scott and Marylouise was by far an exceptional experience. The quaint and spacious 3 bedroom home provided a secluded comfort for myself, toddler twins, and 10 year old. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the place to be.
I needed respite from my home-based business but more importantly, wanted to spend some much needed time with my children. We had a lot of fun playing some of the games I grew up with that were at the house and reading the great historic books of early Vermont and Lake Champlain that they provided. We watched the sunsets right out of the living room window that are spectacular. If it wasn’t so close to bedtime, we would have walked down the steps to the water. I enjoyed an early morning with my daughter on their lake front access just steps away from the house while having a coffee that they had stocked and provided complimentary. On top of some nice leisurely activities for the children, they even gave us the essentials that everyone forgets when traveling like toothbrushes and soap, stocked some water in the fridge, a generous supply of coffee, and snacks-a complete set up of s’mores! Scott and Marylouise’s thoughtful planning made our time feel special and that we were welcomed after our almost 6 hour drive. The on-site laundry was a luxury with having 3 kids along! The screened in porch offered a nice place for the children for crafts. While we were trying to stay away from electronics, we did sneak a show using the provided Wi-Fi.
I can’t say enough good things about the owners and their home. We also visited the country store where MaryLouise sells some of her hand made pottery. I purchased two of her beautiful coffee mugs. The store offers convenience of being only 3 minutes away from the house with gas at the lowest price and anything you might need during travel time.
The location is remote and exactly what I was looking for and at the same time, provided way beyond the essentials and conveniences of what I had expected. They literally thought of everything. Not a detail was forgotten.
Thank you so much and I hope we can stay this summer or fall for a longer respite! You gave me and my family wonderful vacation memories we a sure to cherish! Best wishes! 😊 -Courtney, Stanley, Chase & Elizabeth 4/14/2023-4/17/2023

We came for a last minute trip but you wouldn't know it, based on how prepared the house was. Scott and Marylouise were wonderful hosts, they thought of -literally- everything, and were very communicative and flexible. We're only sorry we just got to stay for a couple of days! Hopefully can come back to enjoy the beautiful view and the rest of the amenities of the house and the island. Thank you again!

My husband and I wanted to spend Thanksgiving weekend with our adult kids somewhere near Lake Champlain. So glad we found this rental! Scott and Marylouise were amazing hosts. They made sure we knew everything about both the house as well as our way around Isle La Motte. They had so many thoughtful touches, from a Vermont goodie basket, s’mores supplies, and more. Communication was perfect from the start, and they were super accommodating to our changing arrival plans. Some of the best rental hosts we’ve ever met!
The house was charming, comfortable and clean, had all the equipment and amenities we needed to cook our holiday meal (even spices), had great WiFi, books, games, a Roku tv, and gorgeous views of the lake. We went down to the shore for the sunset one evening, and it was not to be missed, even in the chilly weather. We want to come back in warmer month to take advantage of lake activities!
Loved spending a relaxing time with our family here. Highly recommend!

I traveled with my two adult kids, my son is 21 and daughter is 24. We enjoyed the comfortable, hominess and well stocked kitchen. But, nothing compared to the hospitality of our hosts and the perfect location. We even traveled to Montreal for a day! We got to see the magnificent fall colors and would love to return in the summer. I highly recommend!

Lake Shore Cottage is quaint, cozy, and a great place to relax. The scenery is beautiful and the sunsets over Lake Champlain are gorgeous. The kitchen is well stocked with many extras usually not found in typical rentals. The owners provide a very nice welcoming gift which included a taste of Vermont - cheese, local honey, and of course, maple syrup.
The location of the cottage makes it easy to tour Vermont. We enjoyed antiquing day trips to Burlington, Stowe, Montpelier, and eastern New York, as well as visits to local apple orchards and maple syrup farms. Scott and Marylouise are gracious hosts, available if needed but not intrusive. We appreciated having a wonderful place to relax and unwind. There are many extras available with this property- fire pits, badminton, kayaks, rowboat, and beach access. All in all, a wonderful place to escape reality and just relax!

After a very busy summer we gave ourselves this fall break to recharge before the coming holiday madness. This was a lovely and much needed escape from screens and the demands of work. The hosts were attentive without being intrusive. For our family of five, including two fur babies, this location is just what we were looking for. At the end of each day the sunset put on a real show for us setting over the lake. We will definitely return.

Mary Louise and Scott were great hosts. The house was ready for us upon arrival. It is very quiet and a great place to do a whole lot of nothing or everything. A very short walk across the front yard has you at the lake. We had a great stay and will return.

We had a comfortable, cozy reunion of 3 siblings plus an adult son & adult grandchild - the house was spacious & decorated beautifully - we especially enjoyed morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lake.

My husband, myself and two of our longtime friends were looking for a relaxing getaway on the water where the guys could fish. This house was perfect - so cozy and yet spacious, very clean and with every amenity you can imagine. It did help that we had four days of glorious weather, but this was the perfect spot. We look forward to a return visit.

The location of this home in the Champlain islands is breathtaking. We stayed along with our dogs and enjoyed the kayaks, beach, fire pits, deck and yard,. The house was well stocked and had items that we had forgotten. (Extra toothbrushes.- few bottles of water, sommores ingredients ) and a welcoming gift.
Scott and MaryLouise were welcoming and helpful but respected our privacy.
We would go again!

We enjoyed our stay at this house so much. It was a dream. My two kids (ages 11 & 13) and I spent a full week here. My parents joined us for a few days, then after they left, my sister and her toddler spent two nights with us. There was plenty to do for all ages and everyone had a fantastic time. We all fit very comfortably in the house, too. Space was not an issue at all.
Some of our favorite things to do were kayaking, skipping rocks at the beach, visiting Alburgh Dunes State Park (less than 15 minutes away), eating dinners on the deck, playing badminton, having campfires at night, and enjoying the gorgeous view from the house. Isle La Motte is so beautiful and peaceful. And this house is the perfect place from which to enjoy it.
Scott and Marylouise are so kind and welcoming. They met us with a wonderful greeting when we arrived, including a helpful tour of the house and very generous gift basket! They were very accommodating and friendly. The house is also extremely well-stocked, including plenty of towels and lots of kitchen items.
We’re so happy we had the opportunity to stay here and enjoy a fun, relaxing week. We can’t wait to return!

From the minute we drove onto the property we were greeted with a smile and a wave and that warm, friendly, sincere welcome continued all throughout the week! Thank you so much Scott and MaryLouise for opening up your house and making it into a beautiful, peaceful, home-away-from-home. The house was fully stocked with fresh linens and towels, the kitchen and bathrooms had more than adequate supplies, everything was clean and welcoming. The small touches around the house of hand-made pottery and glass (I was so thrilled to be able to purchase a few pieces! Thank you so much MaryLouise!) made us feel very comfortable in your home. You are wonderful hosts and we wish you all the best for the future with your house, your store and all of your endeavors. We will 100% recommend you to anyone and everyone we know looking to stay up in that area. We hope we have the opportunity to stay with you again. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

We were able to easily enjoy trails in VT, NY, and Montreal. Highly recommend!

Quiet and comfortable.
Scott and Mary Louise were friendly, welcoming hosts. They were available without being intrusive and the welcome gift was thoughtful. The house had everything we needed, so we brought along things we really didn't need. There were 6 of us, including our two adult children as well as their young teen siblings. There is enough space to spread out on the main floor so we didn't feel like we were under each other's feet the whole time. Two bathrooms were great to have, the water is drinkable/has a brita on the tap for anyone who doesn't like the water taste, or is used to city water. They had bikes, beach toys, floaties, life jackets, kitchen spices, some coffees, tea, as well as standard condiments in the fridge. Cupboards stocked with decent pots and pans, not the usual beat up cast offs that are often in rentals. It was easy to prep food, which was good because we have three celiacs in the house and options for take out are often limited in big cities, never mind rural islands. There were enough dishes and cutlery that I didn't have to run the dishwasher nonstop between meals. The AC really did keep the house cool even though it was a hot week. We didn't end up playing any games that we didn't bring with us, but there were a bunch of family friendly ones, s well as a large selection of books. We had great weather, so we were outdoors every day. making use of the extensive yard and the outdoor chairs to admire the view. Down by the water it was great to have a place to sit and relax and to have a bonfire. There were outdoor motion detector lights which made it easy to navigate up from the beach at dark, and around the driveway/yard at night. The kayaks and rowboat were fun for everyone and the shallow lake entry was great. Water shoes are a must as it's a rocky shoreline with zebra mussels on the rocks away from shore. We saw a lot of small perch swimming around, which was cool for the kids. Very low traffic, peaceful location, lovely views. CONS: 1.Downstairs bathroom shower pressure was too low for my thick hair. 2.Mary-Louise didn't have any of her groot planters in her shop and 3.We only booked a stay for a week.

We had a wonderful stay. The bikes, games, fishing poles, and extra food were greatly appreciated. We planned a few activities but spent most of our time at the house and on the lake. Good times had by all.

Weekend at Lake house Cottage
We had a wonderful weekend. The property was so peaceful with the lake view and private beach. It’s right on the lake. The private beach had lounge chairs , umbrella and even 4 kayaks that my family enjoyed. The hosts were so attentive and went above and beyond. Checking in on us and answering any questions right away. The home was very clean and had everything you could possibly need. They had the home well stocked with toiletries , towels, bottled water, smores, condiments, games, and much more. A lovely couple and a truly beautiful weekend. I highly recommend this rental for a getaway with your family.
