About this house rental
Relax with the whole family at this quiet, peaceful place in the center of Seal Harbor village. Acadia is literally across the street and the best carriage roads in the park are a short walk down the street in one direction, with Seal Harbor Beach a short walk in the other. Pemetic, Penobscot, Cadillac, and Day mountains are all accessible without even getting into the car. It is a short walk out the front door to Jordan Pond House, Wildwood Stables, and Seal Harbor Beach.
In classic Maine fashion, this handsome cottage was originally built in 1890 as a workshop for a local carpenter. It has since been lovingly restored and converted to a summer home in the best spot on the island for easy access to carriage roads, central peaks, and sailing in the Great Harbor.
A one-floor living space featuring an open concept kitchen, dining, and living space. The space is incredibly bright, with windows covering the entire western end of the building and plenty of southern exposure.
There is a large pullout couch and an oversized chair and ottoman in the main living room and a dining table that seats six.
The kitchen is clean, efficient, and outfitted with all of the necessary tools. All of the artwork featured throughout the house is by local artisans.
There are two bedrooms, both with oversized windows for plenty of light. The master has a queen bed with double closet. The second bedroom has a double and a twin bed with double closet.
Outdoors is a seating area with cedar Adirondack chairs made by a local craftsman and a Weber propane grill for your use.
There is plenty of parking for up to three vehicles. A full size washer and dryer are free to use as needed.
Note: This property is available to book only from Saturday to Saturday

Took a week to recover and reenergize, and found all we needed in this cozy little hideaway! Close to everything, but hidden away perfectly!

Our stay required only the initial communication with the owner. This initial communication provided the check-in and check-out details. We had the property to ourselves the entire time, no unexpected visits from the owner or contractors. The queen bed could use a new mattress, and the water pressure was low, but that would not cause me to lower my review. The location can't be beat - less than a mile to park entrance. Very close to the carriage rides. Super close to the land preserve. Clean and agree with prior renter who appreciated lack of mildew smell sometimes an issue in other properties. Would definitely recommend!

Loved this property. It was just my mom and I. We were not looking for anything special other than being close to Acadia. We also were not looking to be surrounded by people or to stay in a hotel. The location was spot on and literally right in the middle of Acadia. We rented a car so we did not need to utilize the park bus but we also were not there during a peak time. If we needed to use the bus the closest pick up location definitely would be walkable. I would say about a mile to Jordan Pond House (and you could even walk the carriage roads most of the way. Michael was a great host. He answered my questions quickly and was more than happy to give me a few dining suggestions. The house was perfect for our needs. I would definitely recommend it and would most definitely stay there again if I went back to Acadia.

So peaceful to stay in Seal Harbor. The location allowed for easy access to Acadia by car and bike. So fun to leave the cottage on our bikes and explore the carriage roads. Easy enjoyable walk to the harbor. The accommodations were very comfortable for two couples. I highly recommend staying in Seal Harbor if you want to avoid the crowds in Bar Harbor. This cottage is just right for an enjoyable vacation on MDI.

This cottage is very comfortable and has a great layout. Its located on a quiet street in Seal Harbor where its easy to walk to the beach or park. Michael is a great host and very attentive to any needs that might arise. If you're going to be in town for Acadia, this is a perfect location. We'd definitely come back.

The place was a perfect place to stay for a visit to Acadia. Within walking distance to the carriage roads and a very short drive to the entrance to the park. House was in a nice quiet location and the accommodations were everything we needed it to be. The owner was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions on hikes, food, and other adventures.

Enjoyed having the whole house to relax in after our daily adventures around Acadia. Location worked well for us. Enjoyed the extras Michael provided above and beyond the usual rental.

I loved staying in the hidden cottage. Quiet neighborhood, walking distance to Seal Harbor Beach, and central location to explore the east and west sides of Mount Desert Island. Simple and comfortable.

If you're looking for a warm shower, space to un wind, and a comfortable bed after a long day of traipsing through the wilderness, this is the place. We were only there two nights, but it was a great place to recharge and crash. Its got a kuerig and a drip coffee maker (the most important appliances in my opion), and all the other important kitchen stuff. We only cooked pizzas in the oven.
The beach is about a mile down the road, and there's a nice hiking trail about a half mile up the road.
Check in was as easy as it can be, and check out was pretty standard.
We had a great time.

We really appreciate the recommendations he provided, which helped us make the most of our time there. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.

Little hard to find with the GPS address. But once we did, it was a perfect location. Quiet and easy to get to everything. Nick, our host, greeted us right away with any information we needed. The cottage is comfortable with everything you might need. Slept very well. The WiFi is spotty all throughout the area. Wouldn’t hesitate staying here again!

Great Stay Near Acadia
We like to avoid the crowded places to stay when we travel and this place was perfect. It was the two of us and the place was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Very quiet area, but less than 15 minutes from Bar Harbor, a half mile walk to the beach at Seal Harbor and Acadia is right next door. Nick greeted us when we arrived and spent time telling us about the area and things to do along with pointing out all the resources he has in the rental for different activities and places to eat.

The Hidden Place was just where we wanted to stay. It was close to the park entrance and other spots of interest in Mt. Desert. Nick was very hospitable and his place was well equipped and very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Convenient Location
This cottage is within walking/biking distance to the carriage trails in Acadia National Park, which was convenient since it is very crowded in September and parking spaces are scarce. The cottage was neat and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen for eating in, and convenient access to a washer/dryer. The furniture is very comfortable. Our host Nick was very friendly and accommodating.

Location, location, location!
It was a treat to be a quarter of a mile to a carriage road. The house is easy access to Acadia, Bar Harbor, Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain and even the “quiet” peninsula. We loved it.

Comfy cottage in super location
The cottage was exactly as advertised- clean, comfortable (very comfy couches!), and well stocked. The location was great - just a 10-15 minute walk to Seal Harbor beach, the Village Green, a few shops and The Lighthouse restaurant - and a shorter walk or bike ride just up the street to the carriage paths of Acadia. Nick was nearby if needed, and his dog Lexi is a sweetheart. All in all a great place!

Wonderful place
We had a wonderful time in Acadia, hiking ,biking, and even swimming (quick swims) at Sand beach and Echo Lake. Hidden Place was a great place to come back to each day. We found the location perfect for all we did. It was nice to be by carriage roads just up the street. We also enjoyed the quiet as opposed to the crowds in Bar Harbor, yet close enough to visit Bar Harbor when we wanted.
We just want to say thanks, and if we come this way again we would definitely stay at your place.

Private home within walking distance to Acadia Natl Park
Clean cozy and well appointed, the open plan and Jack n Jill bathroom makes great use of the space. Set well back from the road on a residential street not a tourist in sight.A short walk will take you to a carriage road and access to all the trails and carriage roads. A 15 min. drive through the park will take you to Bar Harbor. Nick, our host, met us when we arrived, was available as needed and sent us on our way.

We had a great time in Acadia National Park, staying at this ideally located, super clean, and well-equipped cottage. Nick has made sure all the household essentials are available, and the cleaning and preparation of the cottage were excellent. The kitchen is full of new appliances and the bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect for getting to many hiking trails in the park. The drive to Jordan Pond is only 4 minutes and other key destinations are very close. Nick is very friendly and helpful in making sure every detail is perfect. We highly recommend this cottage for a great central location when visiting Acadia National Park.

A perfect location for Acadia exploration!
This cosy, charming place tucked away in a neighborhood was a perfect base for us to explore the park by bike, on foot and so convenient to the other small towns of Mt Desert Island. It was a very memorable visit and we were delighted with its sunny and comfortable location.

We loved our vacation at Hidden Place
The main reason we chose this house was because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. The location is perfect , less than a mile from the beach and several hiking trails. The house is small but very clean and extremely well equipped, we had everything we needed. Nick was extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great suggestions. This was our first visit to Maine and we can’t wait to go back. Mount Desert Island is a wonderful place!

Cozy Hideaway Away From The Crowds
Our stay at Nicks place was great.
The property is probably the most well stocked place we've every stayed at. If you need it, it's likely there. The home is sized well and the clean floors gave our 9-month old son plenty of room to crawl around :)
The bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable, especially if you like your bed on the softer side. And the "My Pillow" sheets and pillows were wonderful (may have to buy some of those!).
There is no cell signal at this area of MDI (Verizon or AT&T), but the property has excellent Wifi and a landline phone. There is also cable/satellite TV.
As for location, it worked well for us. It's about a 7min drive to reach the Jordan Pond House and 15min to Bar Harbor. The Bass Harbor Lighthouse is about 40mins depending on traffic.
Nick is a very accommodating host and a wealth of knowledge on the area. He is always happy to answer questions or recommend places to eat or visit. He informed us that the staple treat of MDI, the infamous Popovers, were best at the Asticou Inn (highly recommended) since they were the former owners of the Jordan Pond House and they brought with them many of the classic recipes. He has also stocked the property with many brochures, booklets, maps and other information on the area.
We look forward to our next trip to MDI and our stay at Nicks place.

quiet & homey close to park & attractions.
Quiet retreat, walking distance to Park Carriage Roads, close to ocean shores and several dining options. Very comfortable homey atmosphere. Nick was a perfect host, very knowledgeable about area and attentive to any needs. It was located in a nice residential neighborhood, very safe and secure feeling. The house was charming. One thing I did not get from the pictures was how spacious it actually is inside. The kitchen, dining, and living room fill one long room, very open-concept. The dining table seats 6 easily. The kitchen has lots of area to work and cook and is well stocked with dishes, pans, and appliances (even a Keurig machine). There are large double windows around this long room and it is bright and sunny. We slept in the queen size bed and it was totally comfortable. There was a bath tub/shower combo. So good for a hot bath to soak those tired muscles after a hike! The washer and dryer was good to have as well.. Nick was an excellent host and we had a wonderful visit!!
