Beautiful rooms, well designed, great unique location

Although our stay was only one night, we couldn’t have been happier with our experience at the Cenobio. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. From booking us reservations at restaurants to organizing parking for us, the staff made everything extremely stress free! Ask for Betty or Mario! The location couldn’t be better in terms of sight seeing, shopping, restaurants and bars. We will definitely be back and for a longer stay next time!
From our one night experience, I can’t think of anything that could have made it better. We found the room was a little warm for sleeping but that is a very small issue that didn’t truly effect our stay.

From the moment we arrived the hotel staff could not do enough to help us. They kindly helped with a taxi to and from the hotel from the car park which they arranged for us prior to our arrival. The room was simply breathtaking. The breakfast was perfectly served and arranged. Dinner recommendations were appreciated and food was great. We liked it so much we came back to stay here again a few days later. We will definitely be returning
Nothing at all! Everything was wonderful

Location was superb. Loved that they only have a few rooms in this hotel. Rooms were amazing. Super clean, great bedding, great bathrooms. Staff was super friendly and helpful and accommodating. Our stay here was a major highlight of our 2 week Italy roadtrip. It's obvious they take pride in their property. A total "gem"
There is absolutely nothing we didn't like. This place was amazing. There is nothing they could not have done better.

Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices to choose from, espresso and cappuccino very good

The room was very modern and comfortable with a great shower. It was situated partway up the hill so not too many steps to climb to get to the rest of the city. There wasn't 24 front desk but someone waited for me to check in after arriving later in the day. I thought the breakfast was very good with a large selection of foods to have. You must park outside of the old city and the hotel provided shuttle service from the lot.
The room had no window so it felt a little strange but the lighting was very good so at least it wasn't dark. Where the shuttle had to drop me off was quite a ways from the hotel and it was a bit of a climb with my bags to get there. Pack light!

I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was friendly, and accommodating. We stayed in August which is the height of holiday so it it is busy with tourists. Ivana made it a point to share that we should reserve dinner at restaurant prior to traveling to Italy. Her recommendation was spot on. Our meal was wonderful. Our breakfast the following morning was just as delightful and yummy. Our room was perfect and clean. If I were to go back to Matera I would stay Cenobio Hotel again.

Location is great to walk around and in a quiet location. Breakfast is good but could be an improvement to offer some hot dishes. Reserved parking but know it will cost 20€ per night and an extra 20€ for the round trip shuttle. Very good restaurant recommendation by the staff member.
Thé pillow are hard as brick and very thick. As there was no one at reception after 9pm we couldn’t ask for any other type of available so was an uncomfortable sleep. This should be reviewed for an improvement. Also, they should turn off the led of the wifi router which are quite intense at night, this is an easy fix. The parking shuttle not only is 10€ each way but we haven’t been told to book for the return and it would had taken more than 45 minutes wait so we walked. The hotel
should offer to book for their client the day before departure or at check in.

Some noticeable wear and tear but honestly a very nice stay regardless.

modern and comfortable room. perfect for a family
The partner park house is not good and make you leave the car key. There is a better self park place closer to the hotel for the same price per day of €20

Beautiful and unique room filled with both character and modern amenities. Wonderful, friendly staff (especially Mario who served us breakfast while teaching us Italian!) Excellent location as well. Can’t rate our stay highly enough!

The hotel is charming and clean, the room inside a renovated cave, very beautiful. Wonderful staff who tried in every to give a good feeling, the best breakfast we ate in Italy ... but the hotel is definitely not suitable for people with knee problems ... we counted 78 steps to go up and down the hotel. It definitely needs to be written, so people know what awaits them.
It's important to write that there are many stairs to the hotel

Location
Lack of common areas and amenities. No lobby, no pool, advertised spa does not exist and the best their agreement with a local spa can yield is a visit from a masseuse. There is no restaurant only a breakfast room where your waiter can fry up an egg or bacon but the baked goods appear to be manufactured. Even a poached egg is beyond their capabilities. Our spa bath did not work as promised and you soon tire of the cave without natural light. But Matera itself is fabulous.
