About this house rental
From the roof lines to the original hinged windows, this is a truly one of a kind home. It was built nearly 100 years ago by Superior Court judge William Bading as his hunting get-away..... and it is rumored that he utilized the local inmates craftsmanship to complete the construction.
The home has many original features but has been updated with todays creature comforts. The main home has 4 cozy & unique bedrooms along with 3 nicely appointed baths. Scenic views are enjoyed from almost every room. The master suite enjoys its own balcony,...the views are really lovely from this room. There is an additional guest house located across lawn which features a full kitchen, full bath, and a comfy queen bed in the loft . This also has its own covered deck and space to get away.
The outdoor spaces provide many areas to relax and enjoy the views. The small hillside deck area with adirondack chairs & fire pit is a wonderful little spot to watch the sun set behind the Olympics . The main patio has plenty of seating and great for entertaining. We've recently added a new spot down on the beach stair landing for two to enjoy a quiet view and a cold beverage.
The yard spaces are perfect for badminton or a one handed croquet tournament. Established gardens and hedges provide for a pretty private experience.
We love the charm this home exudes as well as the truly active views. Watch early morning water skiers, harbor seals, bald eagles and yachts cruising into the bay to anchor for the weekend.

Great family base camp for daughters wedding. Everything was provided for fun on the water and dining. PNW views amazing!

Truly an amazing family getaway. They have thought of every detail. Plenty of space for the 10 of us, the grounds are beautiful, the views of the water and mountains is amazing.the best VRBO I have stayed at.

Simply the nicest property we have ever rented. We had a mix of family and friends staying with us for our son's wedding. The property is immaculate inside and out. Beautifully manicured gardens. The house had everything we needed and more. Even the gas grill was spotless. We cooked several meals for our large group and every cooking utensil we needed was available (and more). They thought of everything. The waterfront view was amazing and we enjoyed the firepit almost every night while watching the sun set into the mountains. We took advantage of the kayaks and paddleboard to explore the inlet in front of the house. We saw seals and osprey almost every day. The bedding was super comfy and all of our guests commented on how well they were able to sleep. Carol Sue is a great host and very responsive when we had a small issue. The only bad part of our stay was leaving. We would love to come back again some time. If I could give this property 10 stars, I would.

Our second stay in this excellent, well-managed property. Our every need and desire was anticipated, the house is spotless, the grounds impeccable. Easy communication with Carol Sue. A blissful setting, plenty of room to roam and recreate, comfy beds, modern bathrooms, a boutique finish to everything. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, serving dishes, appliances, everything you need for family kitchen time if you so desire. Great indoor and outdoor seating, kayaks, life preservers for every shape and age, the owners know what it takes to host a perfect getaway. The absolute best VRBO property in our decades long experience. Bravo!

Wonderful property. All amenities we needed were there. Kayaks, badminton, fire pit for s’mores and a gorgeous view!

Seldom do you stay at a property that exceeds your expectations in every way. This lovely estate was perfect for our family trip with our three adult children, their spouses and kids. The grounds were as beautifully maintained as the house. We are a cooking family and the kitchen is spacious and fully equipped. Even with several young families, there was space to be together and to find a respite. Paddle boarding in the calm inlet was great and the beach was nice for small children, especially when the tide is out. Carol Sue accomodated our early check-in request and responded promptly to all inquiries during our stay. Our family hopes to return to this truly unique property many times in the future.

This home was perfect for our family of 10 to celebrate our parents 80th birthday! There was enough room for the entire family, breathtaking views of the water, lots of outdoor space for lawn games, and the location to the ferry over to Seattle couldn’t have been better. We definitely recommend this home and have even talked about coming back again in the future. Carol Sue was such a wonderful host. The little special touches that she added to welcome us was to the home meant so much to us. Thank you Carol Sue!

Our extended family stayed for a week and this location was perfect for all ages. There were kayaks and a paddle board for water activities, badminton and bean bag toss for the yard, and plenty of games for indoors. The backyard has a great view and we enjoyed many of our meals outdoors. While it’s a bit of a drive from the airport (1 hour), the ferry makes for easy day trips to Seattle. This is a great spot to enjoy the area while having plenty of quiet space to yourself!

We had three generations with us - children between 7 and 14 - parents, and grandparents for a total of 9 people. There was always something to do every day. We loved the house and the guest house - it was perfect for our needs. The house was very clean and we had everything we needed - included fun toys. The communication with the owner was all we had hoped for. It was a marvelous week.

This beautifully appointed home set among the trees was the perfect gathering spot for our sibs reunion. Ideal for groups that like to cook, the kitchen is the heart of the home and comes very well supplied with a wide range of cookware and utensils. (The kitchen knives, sharp and elegant, were a joy to work with.) But cooking is not the only activity available. There are kayaks and lawn games and books and puzzles galore. The house is situated between Seattle (by ferry) and the Olympic National Park and you can choose a mix of urban and outdoor activities. The house was a great spot for us and I highly recommend it.

This has been our favorite VRBO rental by far! I was giddy with excitement when we walked into this most charming home overlooking the beautiful, peaceful bay! Beds/pillows were so comfortable, bathrooms were gorgeous, and the kitchen was fabulous with lots of counter space and was VERY well stocked. We ate all of our dinners outside on the large table which was probably our favorite. Such a beautiful setting! We played badminton, sat around the fire pit at night, looked for shells during the day and played cards/board games. There may have been some wine consumed too. 😉 Truly a magical family vacation that we won’t forget!

Our family of 8 adults stayed here for several days as we explored the PNW. It was perfect and we loved returning home each evening after a long day. The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were comfortable, the patio and decks were amazing! We can’t say enough good!

Well equipped kitchen and grill. Lots of outdoor seating, good for conversation. Paddle boarding, walking, trails nearby, Anthony’s downtown for dinner with a large group, but we like to cook and clean up. Big dining room table was perfect. Pretty and quiet place to visit and relax.

A lovingly restored and upgraded historic property in a serene setting. Although it is obviously also a family home, it is set up as if it were a boutique hotel but with none of the pretentiousness. Easy communication with the host. The supremely equipped cooking kitchen is organized with everything to hand (very helpful labels!). Everything you need for outside recreation on the secure grounds, plus the bonus of kayaks and stand up paddle boards if you have a hankering to meet the serene waters of Oyster Bay in the flesh. We would give this VRBO a 10 if we could. The pictures are accurate, but the reality is beyond expectation. Thanks to the individuals who shared this supreme property with us.

Perfect vacation home
We had a fabulous week at this beautiful home. We had 8 adults for a family get-together. We spent at least half of our week hanging out at the home, kayaking, lounging in the very nice outdoor furniture, playing badminton and ladder golf. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was extremely well-equipped, and each couple had privacy to retreat to their own bedroom space. I am usually homesick after a week, but I felt so at home here I could have stayed indefinitely!

Amazing stay!
This property is even more lovely and perfect than it appears online! We stayed for a week and could not have been more thrilled with the impeccably decorated house, charming guest cottage, gorgeously landscaped grounds, and beautiful views. We held a small wedding and dinner for our daughter here and it was magical! The grounds were in full bloom, the sunset glowed off of Oyster Bay and the house served as a perfect venue. The host was so attentive to our every question and need. We had a small emergency with one of the bathrooms and the host had a plumber on-site immediately and came herself to make sure that everything was perfect before the day of our celebration. I’m so glad we found this gem and grateful for the memories we made!

We had a great time staying here. First off the look of the house is magical with so many niches and spaces to hang out in. The outside space was perfect for our group to dine and socialize. We loved sitting around the fire pit and dining alfresco. It was so beautiful with sunset views, lush grass, and blooming flowers. The inside is just as wonderful with comfortable beds and linens and plenty of room for our group of 9. The additional cottage was perfect for our people who wanted a little more quiet for their young family, and the 2nd week a retreat for older adult children to hang out later into the night. Every need was seen to from coffee, to laundry detergent, family games, and kayaks, bathrobes and lovely soaps.
We used the house as a springboard to visit surrounding quaint towns, hiking, and longer day outings to Tacoma, Seattle and Hurricane Ridge.
Can't say enough nice things about this rental. Carol Sue, the owner, was amazing to work with and helped to make our vacation in Bremerton perfect.

Beautiful Home!
We take our whole family on vacation every 2 years. This home is the nicest home we’ve stayed in. Carol Sue greeted us and was available for any questions we had during our stay! Loved kayaking and paddling in Oyster Bay. Sitting on the deck with a fire was a bonus.

Wonderful stay! Highly recommend
Beautiful home in a private and quiet setting. Beautiful grounds.
Although nearby houses are close, we never saw another neighbor. Kitchen very well stocked with utensils, tupperware, bakeware and pans for us to cook every night (best of any VRBO we have previously rented!). Also stocked well with firewood, shampoo, ziplock baggies, tin foil, laundry soap, etc...
Easy location for access to Port Townsend, Olympic Park and via ferry to Seattle. Mount Rainer is 2.5hr drive.
Carol Sue was kind, very responsive and helpful.

Fabulous!!
It was the perfect place for us to stay for our family reunion. The owner makes it extra special. Extra clean ,helping with groceries and any other needs you might want. Each room has its own character and is clean spic and span. I would go back in a heartbeat. Such a beautiful wonderful home.

We rented this Exceptional property so we could enjoy Puget Sound. The house is immaculate/ tastefully decorated and has every amenity. The first thing I look at in renting in the bed linens. These were all new and very nice. That isn’t always the case in home rentals. The house is truly one of a kind. The owners saved a historical home and renovated it. The grounds are beautiful and very large. My grandson loved the guest house which he thought was like his own play house. There are plenty of life jackets and the canoes were wonderful. We had a great time and will rent again.

Idyllic Getaway
Our group of eight consisted of four adults and four children ages 10 - 16. The beautiful property and house provided a relaxed indoor/outdoor experience with something for everyone. The kids had fun boating and playing in the yard and adults had plenty of space to read or enjoy a cocktail by the fire. Carol Sue was the perfect host and we had everything we needed in this lovely and well appointed home.

Loved this place
We stayed for 9 days. We had four couples and everyone loved it. Outdoor areas are wonderful with a fire pit and gas fire table. Kitchen is the best stocked of any rental we’ve had (and we’ve stayed at many). Bathrooms are nicely renovated with very large showers in two. Beds and bedrooms are comfortable. Every day seals warmed themselves on the floating dock next door which was fun to see. Lots of games and outdoor supplies available in shed. Kayaks were easy to access and use. Close to town but far enough that it feels like the country. Highly recommended.

Lakeside 8. Year 10.
We are a group of childhood friends that travel once a year to catch up. This property was perfect for us. Beautiful, well appointed home and we couldn’t have been more happy here. Great outdoor spaces and the kayaks were a perfect outing for a group of us once we arrived, unpacked and the others started dinner. Little touches throughout that we all noticed and were appreciative of the care and detail. We arrived to cut flowers throughout the home and a bottle of wine.
Beds were very comfortable. Nice large dining room table for games, art and meals. Lovely outdoor space. A deck right out the back door with a fire pit. And another sitting area on the other side of the lawn to roast marshmallows and enjoy the summer evening. Gorgeous grounds!
The only draw back was the tv area. 8 of us couldn’t sit around and watch a movie, there is only one recliner and a sofa. BUT we did not come to watch tv. Just an FYI.,
Thank you so much for another fabulous girls weekend! 💛❤️

What a magnificent setting for a family reunion. We had family from different parts of the US and UK fly and ferry to this beautiful house and we all loved it! The pictures do not do it justice. Its charm, beauty, relaxing environment and the best Badminton views ever.....all made it the perfect place to be!

Wonderful week
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. Carol Sue was kind, quick to respond, and very helpful. She gave us a heads-up about a few events in the area, and texted us one morning about the negative tide so we could explore even more of the waterfront. We loved the kayaks, private outdoor living space, games and gorgeous view. We all slept so well. The bedrooms are nicely separated for privacy and beautifully decorated. This was a fantastic rental.

Perfect location, perfect home! A+++
This home was incredible! I was immediately impressed by the fact that it looked even better than the pictures! Its clear that the owner’s priority is cleanliness and comfort. The home was furnished with everything we could need. The location was so perfect that we even chose it as the backdrop for our annual family photos (hired a local photographer). Carol Sue communicated as necessary, but was never intrusive.
I highly recommend this home for you next visit to the area!
