Incredible location with a deck right by the water’s edge. Perfect for sunrises. We ate at home every night so the kitchen is well equipped. The owner Johnny is very contactable, offers great local advice, does tours of the island (which we did and enjoyed) and he’s just a really nice guy. Would deffo stay here again.
The stairs up to the bedroom could be difficult for the elderly or disabled.

Such a cute little ‘chalet’ in an amazing location, right on the water with a gorgeous Motu a short kayak away and the gorgeous ‘Amazon’ river kayak half an hour in the other direction.
There are a few mosquitos around but there is a net over the bed and ring your anti-mosquito spray

Our stay was great. The cabin is located in a quiet part of the island on the edge of a beautiful bay that you can swim, snorkel and kayak in. Johnny was also a great host and was very accommodating, driving us to get dinner each night and also bringing us to the market on the way from the airport. Johnny's mum was also lovely.

Loved our experiences at Fare Vahine Oviri - from the awesome welcome from Johnny and family, the 4 hour tour of the island with Johnny (the pilgrimage to Taputapuatea being the absolute highlight), snorkeling in the lagoon and even a meal with the family. The Fare is comfortable and well provisioned for self-catering. This delightful place is one of the best kept secrets in the whole Pacific.

We had a beautiful stay at Fare Vahine Oviri with Johnny and his parents. Va'a and kayaks are availables and you have a private access to the lagoon. You also have a wooden patio with palm trees, chairs, table and deckchairs. Special thanks to Nunu and her kindness with our little boy :)
Nothing !

French Polynesian hospitality at its finest. We were a party of 4 and Johnny and his family went above and beyond to make us feel at home at Fare Vahine Oviri. Quaint little lodge with spectacular views, stunning sunsets, snorkeling, paddle boarding, canoeing and more. They made it all very easy to experience Raiatea the way it should be experienced…. with the locals. If you are lucky enough to meet Mama nunu, she’ll brighten up your day with her infectious smile and story telling.
Only downside were the mosquitos, so don’t forget your insect repellent. 😊

The bungalow is extremely cozy and quaint, and these are positives. Everything feels very close and immediate within the four walls. Everything you need is available. Plus there is a wonderful deck to sit and watch the sunrise; kayaks to take to the public motu. We absolutely loved this accommodation, and the owners (Nana is a beautiful, happy, pleasant woman).
The main issue was with bees. There must be a hive (or two?) somewhere in the roofing area of the bungalow. They were around, especially in the early to mid afternoon. The stairs to the second floor sleeping quarters may be cumbersome for some. I found it charming. But people with mobility concerns should be weary.

Johnny and his mom are amazing people. Super chill location.
You could hear the rain on the roof and it was pretty scary during the night.

We had a great time staying at Fare Vahine Oviri on Raiatea Island. The owners treated us well, and their hospitality was exceptional. We stayed in a cute little bungalow (we were the only guests), which was right next to a little beach, where we could go swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. We paddled out to a couple of motus at the edge of the reef, which was very interesting. There were two bicycles we could use, but one only had a single gear and it was too hard to climb some of the hills with it, so we did not get to see as much of the island as we had hoped. But we biked over to the nearest store to buy groceries several times. The owner's house was nearby, and we were invited over for lunch more than once. Johnny's mother cooked some amazing meals in the local, polynesian tradition, which we enjoyed very much.

The owner, Johnny, was very, very helpful starting with picking us up at the airport, and later arranging both a rental car and daylong boat tour at our request. The tour was fantastic with 3 snorkeling stops and visits to pearl and vanilla farms, etc.
The kitchen was well stocked, except for a can opener, with everything we needed including some spices.
There were kayaks and bicycles to borrow at no extra charge.
Appreciated the free ride to and from the car rental office by the airport when he was going into town anyway.
The deck was sublime!
AsWe should have realized that AC was required when we were there. No screens on windows so lots of fresh air but therefore bugs, too!
The kitchen was extremely small with a hot plate on a cabinet in the middle which made accessing the sink or fridge very tough.
Johnny only had access to his mom's dilapidated Jeep with one passenger seat beside the driver. That meant literally crawling into the back seat from the rear and sitting with the luggage on a very narrow seat with no seat belts. Not safe or comfortable!
Three rambunctious dogs that make their presence known if strangers come to the gate!
Because the windows have to be open all the time, noise and voices from Johnny's house are heard in the rental unit.
Need a small table on the deck between the chairs to place a glass, plate instead of the ground.
To get to the bedroom loft, need to climb a steep ladder/stairs with a rope at the top, then swing yourself over to the landing to reach the bed. No good if you're not agile!! Tough to descend the ladder/stairs in the middle of the night when dark!
The place is very isolated from stores, restaurants, etc but perfect if you want something in the middle of nowhere to enjoy the stunning view and kayak.
The rental was FAR more basic than I expected BUT Johnny was a wonderful host.

This sweet Polynesian house is equipped with everything you might need for your stay and more . The view is gorgeous and the location is very quiet away from town . Johnnie went out of his way to make my stay comfortable :picked me up at the airport, pumped up the excellent mountain bike for me to ride, and helped me with the kayak so I could go paddle to a nearby Motu. He arranged an excursion to Tahaa for me and told me a lot about the island and its people . I was invited to come along to a local dance and music festival for three nights which was spectacular. His mom and dad are very sweet and his mom spoiled me with local treats .
