The house embraces a spectacular solar heated pool and backyard patio from which you may fully relax in the fantastic Santa Barbara weather. The mottled black bottom pool is like a "Matisse" painting adding to the ambiance of the beautiful yard.
Peacefully sleep in the quiet setting. Those who are early risers will not disturb those who want to sleep in as the bedroom wing is at the opposite end of the house from the kitchen living and dining areas.

Santa Barbara the 'American Riviera': In Santa Barbara you can hike in the mountains and swim at the beach on the same day! This property is located on a beautiful tree filled acre property with views of the mountains. Just a short walk to the Mission and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. Walk to downtown Santa Barbara through Rocky Nook Park and distinctive Upper East neighborhoods. The beach and Montecito are just an easy 10 minute drive. Santa Barbara offers a wealth of cultural and athletic activities from kayaking, windsurfing, whale watching, fishing, biking, golf to local theater, museums and cultural events.
Please be advised that this property is to be used only for the guests on contract and we do not permit large gatherings or more than four cars at any time at the property.
The pool is typically heated to a comfortable temperature by a rooftop solar heating system May to November (70-85 degrees). Heating the pool with gas in the winter or shoulder seasons can be arranged with a $100 a day additional fee arranged in advance, not needed in summer. The jacuzzi is heated on demand and is provided with booking.
There is an electrical plug for plugging in an electric car in the carport. Please notify us if you wish to do this in advance. There would be a $7 a day extra charge for electricity.

There are MANY wonderful aspects of this property. There is a lot of space for family and friends, the kitchen is very well-equipped, having 3 bathrooms is great for guests, and the pool and grounds are amazing! This is indeed a great home for families and is in a great setting that is close to everything. It is not necessarily a beach home but more of a home in the hills of Mission Canyon which enhances the privacy and beauty of the home. There were a few areas that required maintenance, repair, update and cleaning but not enough that we would not consider coming back again. The hosts are on property and were very responsive to the few needs we had. Very well-priced for the size and amenities.

We had a great time staying at Wendy's property. It was a great size for our whole family and equipped with everything one would need! The pool was used enthusiastically and often! My three teens and husband spent a week during Christmas at the Rockwood's lovely property. The grounds were filled with fruit trees and other beautiful foliage that gave a relaxing environment. Everything was lovingly decorated for the season. The house is stocked as a home that is lived in so we were able to easily cook nice family meals. The pool and spa were wonderful. Very close to downtown Santa Barbara yet feels like a secluded get away. All in all a great place to stay.

This property was the perfect escape for our daughter’s wedding week. Everything was amazing. The grounds and pool were spacious and relaxing. The beautiful fruit trees were an added bonus. Wendy and Chick were the most gracious hosts and the home had everything we needed. Plus, the beds were beyond comfortable. An amazing getaway to enjoy Santa Barbara.

We spent most of our stay out in the backyard enjoying the lovely gardens, the variety of singing birds, gazing at the stars at night, and the pool and spa. The pool was very refreshing. The location is fairly private and the neighborhood is quiet. The kitchen is well stocked, we enjoyed cooking and eating meals together in the home. Wendy and Chuck are really gracious hosts, they helped us out when we needed it, they share the bounty of their flourishing garden and fruit trees. We had a very relaxing stay and would choose to stay again in the future. The home is surprisingly roomy, there was plenty of space for our family. I can vouch for the master bedroom bed, which was really comfortable!

This home was the perfect place for our family to stay for a week. The house is spacious, comfortable and has everything you need to feel at home. The yard is a stunning botanical garden and as others have mentioned, there is a mature fruit orchard which we were encouraged to enjoy. Fresh squeezed orange grapefruit juice and lemonade were all fan favorites. The location can’t be beat (walking distance to botanical gardens, close to downtown SB). Wendy and Chuck, our hosts, we’re extremely accommodating, responsive, and just all around good people. Needless to say, when we’re back in town, this is the where we’ll be staying.

We came to this house for a quick weekend from LA with another family. The 8 of us were very happy. The kitchen had everything you needed and then some. The pool was delightful. Aside from the record breaking heatwave that weekend it was a success and we would come back.

We loved staying at the property. Feels like our own private oasis away from everything. Wendy, as always, is friendly and helpful. House is big and clean, and the backyard is amazing. I'm sure we will be back again soon.

My review is a bit biased because had to leave 5 days earlier for an emergency situation and got zero refund. I understand this is business as usual but some humanity and less regard for money would have been appreciated, specially on difficult circumstances.
In any case, this listing is not what it looks like. First, the owner lives in the house next door; while some renters don’t mind, we do as we like full privacy; this was not disclosed. Second, the house has no AC and in summer days you do need it. Third, the house is old and outdated; if you like grandma style, you will be fine, but if you value modernity, this is not your house. The outdoors are nice, pool is good, house architecture cool, but road is next to the house and does not feel quiet or isolated enough. In summary, it’s a fine rental for half the price. At the premium rate they are charging this is not a good deal. They should lower the price or fix all issues above.

Renting from Wendy is super easy. She’s helpful and communicates well. The property was just what we wanted and exactly as the pictures showed. My kids loved the pool. My wife and I relaxed in the garden. It was super close to restaurants, grocery stores and the botanical gardens. We will be going back soon!

The pool is gorgeous and clean, and great for our kids who are learning to swim. Wendy & Chad were very welcoming, ultra responsive and friendly hosts, but never intrusive.
Located in a wonderful neighborhood right next door to the fabulous botanical garden and just a few minutes drive from everything else. Absolutely nothing we would have changed, we had a fantastic time and would come back in a heartbeat if the fates allow!

A little bit of paradise
Wendy and Chuck are exceptional hosts, have intimate knowledge of Santa Barbra and can recommend great hikes, restaurants and shopping. The property was clean, even though they allow pets there was no odor at all. The garden is absolutely beautiful!! You can pick your choice of citrus from any tree, which was great for cocktails or breakfast. The backyard was so serene that my husband and I spent the first entire week relaxing back there instead of exploring around the town. I highly recommend Poolside for family gatherings or visits with friends.

Poolside heaven
The house is absolutely lovely and even bigger than the photos suggest. There was tons of room for our 8 person family group. As well as the pool, there is a terraced garden full of fruit trees. The house is very well equipped, from the kitchen to the living room with toys. The location is excellent, a short drive to the beaches and downtown. We enjoyed the short walk past the fire station to a local park and playground. We stayed for 2 weeks and loved every moment.
