About this house rental

"Uan" is a charming cluster of 5 houses surrounding a quiet courtyard. This is one of the newly renovated modern traditional houses, "Uan/Sora". The house was built more than 100 years ago and recently renovated for a vacation home. The house still has an old atmosphere of Kyoto and provides the latest furnishings. It is fully furnished and all necessary appliances will be provided.

The Sora (空) House is a two-story house of 90 m2 and fully renovated in 2018. 3 bedrooms with the total of 9 beds and 3.5 bathrooms, this house is suitable for a large group. In the living room there is a table large enough for 10 people can have seats all together.

There is the full kitchen(cookware, dinnerware, seasonings, a microwave, a toaster oven, a rice cooker, a hot water kettle and more), washing machine/dryer, washing detergent, utilities, and home appliances. Of course, fresh bed/bath linen and toothbrush are provided.

On the first floor, there are two bedrooms. 3 single beds and 1 double bed in Bedroom 1, 2 single beds (can be pushed them together to make a double bed) in Bedroom 2. There is 1 double bed in Bedroom 3 upstairs. Bedroom 2 has an en-suite bathroom and Bedroom 3 has an en-suite shower. There is also another bathroom adjacent to Bedroom 1.

Located in 5 minutes walk from Higashiyama station in the Higashiyama area of Kyoto.

The Higashiyama area is considered the most Kyoto like place in Kyoto. If you are interested in temples, the most prestigious Zen temple in Japan called Nanzen-ji is near the house. Also, Heian shrine, Shoren-in, Chion-in and Yasaka shrine are within a 5-10 minute walk from the houses. You can also walk to Gion area to the downtown in Kyoto.

This accommodation was excellent. Large and spacious, with two floors of living space. We were a large family, with three separate groups so it worked out well with three separate showers/toilets. The space has been recently renovated and has wonderful amenities. The host/management team were very responsive and attentive to all our needs. We would definitely recommend this accommodation to any potential guests.

had a great time staying at this house. communication with host was excellent- they were very accommodating for check in when our train was delayed. House was as described, had 5 adults with pleanty of room for everyone. Nice having 3 bathrooms. Area is centrally located near public transport which makes getting around convenient. walkable area wirh shops, restaurants etc while area near house nice and quiet that uou forget you are in the middle of a city. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Your property was a welcome home away from home. It was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was very nice and quiet. The only problem we had was with the washing machine/dryer. It took many hours of drying for the clothes to dry. We enjoyed our stay.

What a great place to stay!!! Instead of self check in, our hosts greeted us at the door. The entrance is lovely and the place itself was ideal for our family of 6. Kei N and her husband showed us around, went through the details of the place and even gave us a bottle of sake. Everything was fresh, clean and appeared in top condition. Plenty of bed options as well as bathrooms. Pictures are accurate and an easy walk to connect to wherever you are going.

Perfect house that combined traditional with modern. We loved the location. It was so easy to communicate with the property manager and team. They were so kind when they greeted us and were happy to help. Would recommend this place for sure!

This was our first visit to Japan/Kyoto, and we wanted to choose a rental that had an authentic Japanese feel to it. This place did not disappoint. It was very nice to meet the property manager upon check-in, who was able to give us instructions on how to use the house. And the bonus bottle of sake from the host was a wonderful surprise, and just what we needed after a difficult day of travel. It was a tucked-away enclave, so we are happy that the property manager had good communication with us and gave good directions to find it. Our only complaint is that one of the bathrooms had a plumbing leak, but I have no doubt that the issue was addressed after we left. The property was otherwise in good maintenance and clean. We would definitely recommend staying here.

This was an amazing place. The host and his staff were kind, informative, incredibly responsive and just absolute pleasures to deal with. The property was clean, the beds very comfortable and it is amazing to have 3 bathrooms with showers for each room. The large table in the dining room was a great place for us to get together at the beginning and end of the day, and the location was perfect. The train station and a Lawsons that is open 24 hours are a short walk away. A lot of landmarks are close by and it is a great jumping off spot for many more. We could have not been more happy and satisfied with our stay.

Great location, walkable to local subway line, Gion, temples and stores. A bit hard to find initially but once we understood the area it was easy. The neighborhood is charming. Home is very clean and comfortable. Front door has a code which makes having a group really convenient, no keys to manage. Air conditioning was fantastic during some very hot days. Owners assistant was incredibly helpful. We wanted to see a firework festival and she was instrumental in getting the tickets for us. Overall I highly recommend this home.

Our 3 night stay was just as described. Great, safe, quiet location for our family of 6. Very easy access for touring the bueatiful area of Kyoto. The owner and his assistant were very helpful and the communication was excellent. We HIGHLY recommend staying here.

A large group of friends and I had a wonderful stay in Kyoto here. Our host, Kei, was very communicative throughout the process, and made the check-in and check-out very easy. The location is perfect for exploring all of Kyoto’s shrines and temples, within walking distance to Gion, and very convenient to take public transportation everywhere else. The house itself was sparkling clean and very comfortable for our group of seven people. They took great care to provide translations for all of the appliances and good recommendations for local cafes and restaurants. We hope to stay here again when we come back to Kyoto!

The home is exactly as pictured. The owner is a great communicator and host. The best part was that the home was equipped with a washer and dryer for our clothes! This was so helpful as we were traveling with our 3 month old daughter. Definitely recommend!!
