The bed was very comfortable and the view was breathtaking!
The service leaves alot to be desired. I ordered coffee which arrived an hour later. The receptionists were always on their phones. No one offered to help me with my bags when I checked out. I ordered tea on Friday afternoon, the cup, empty tea pot and tray remained untouched in the room until my departure on Sunday. The room had a musty smell and needs a good clean. The tap in the bathroom was constantly dripping. The shower temperature never increased beyond luke warm. I never managed to watch TV throughout my stay because there was no signal due to the wind. There is more but I feel like this is enough. I felt like I was living in a haunted house.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
A wonderful property and view.
Damien is a true professional with genuine care for the guests.
I spent hours simply sitting on the lawn with the view.
Only improvement would be a gym.
Lack of gym

We changed our flight just to have some hours in the property. The grounds, rooms, and main building were absolutely amazing — beautiful, comfortable, homey.
dinner at the restaurant was meh, I’d skip it

Beautiful property. Wonderful grounds to explore. Fun rope bridge to get to your room. Super friendly staff. Made you feel as if it were your own home. Fantastic stay and would return.
Could perhaps alter the menu or add a few new options/specials to the menu if eating there for diner most of the week. Also perhaps another staff member to help on busy evenings.

The staff was welcoming and helpful, going above and beyond to help and make us feel at home and happy.
We were disappointed that the fireplace was gas and did not like the bridge we had to cross to get to our lodging.

I loved the massage!
The food is not that flavorful. Their best dish is the ragu. Everything else I ate lacked seasoning.

Beautiful location. Great wine list.
Understaffed. And the staff did not seem happy to be there. With exception the 2 guards - they should be promoted!
Had to follow up multiple times for invoice. Padel was Double booked - they offered a voucher, which we are yet to receive after multiple requests.
Generally underwhelmed.

Location, Hot tub, shower, bed comfortable, food, service, views,
We didn’t like that such a prestigious property has no power for the rooms and suits when there is loadshedding, but the tennis courts and main house has lights and people are enjoying playing tennis while we as guest sits in the dark with no tv or WiFi. The solar lights and torch was not good enough and more lighting for loadshedding in the rooms could have been provided in this case. As we had to attend a big concert and was invited by a celebrity friend , I could not dry my hair to look decent for the event, due to loadshedding. In the morning early, people are playing tennis and making a noise and this woke us up early, and we are guest. They are ? Members ?
Camps bay retreat was our first place we stayed at as a couple before we got married. So it’s a special place for us and it was our first time back since.

Magical location! Very efficient staff. Great room. Amazing views.
Slightly more complete vegetarian menu would be appreciated.

despite being in camps bay, the hotel sits on a huge footprint. our “room” was huge - kitchen, dining room, sitting area, two bathrooms, bedroom and patio.
we loved exploring the gardens, walking to the beach and relaxing in our hot tub.

Camps Bay Retreat is by far my favorite hotel. Mostly because of the service I received which surpassed all of my expectations. The staff was so lovely and very attentive to my needs. I planned to switch hotels halfway through to get the most out of my trip and am regretting that fully because nothing has felt as warm and welcoming as CBR!
The grounds are magical! For someone who loves the outdoors, this is was a dream to discover. There are pools, walkings paths, swings, beautiful gardens, and the location is perfect! It is within a 5 minute walk to the beach, shops, and amazing restaurants.
The room was perfect for a relaxing oasis. I had direct view of the ocean and the paddle courts which added some great live entertainment. The room had the most magical bathtub and wood burning hot tub which were perfect to enjoy during load shedding. I know many people complained about the lack of generators but I found it nice to be forced to unplug and enjoy what the room had to offer.
I honestly don't have any negatives. The overall experience was so wonderful that any small inconvenience was overlooked.

Everything was adequate but not linked to the Manor House during load sharing.
The view

This was a wonderful place to stay; I arrived after a 14 hour flight and was stunned by the views. The staff were friendly and extremely attentive. Probably the highlight of the hotel are the grounds: pictures don’t do them justice. There are little trails downhill from the main manor, with little benches or gardens tucked in. They even have a natural pool beneath a fountain. I wish I had been able to stay longer than a night, and I’d definitely stay again.

I have tried to report that I had left my CK pair of sunglasses they immediately removed me from the group
I called the actual hotel and they informed that they were going to confirm with the housekeeping department and two hours later no one had contacted me
I called back and the answer was that they were going to confirm but they asked now the staff from house keeping and they did not find them but they have failed to call me back

location, view, services, amenities, restaurant
small functional issues in the room (had one of the oldest bungalow) service a bit slow.
3.5 / 5.0
the location , the space and all the cool facilities with good vegan food options
there is only a generator in the main building, with current load shedding issues in South Africa (lack of electricity) when you have to walk across a wooden bridge and wooden stairs at night without light it’s very uncomfortable and honestly a bit scary. use of a small battery lamp not good enough for what we pay. the small details of maintenance not seen to , shower leaks and when I got out shower slipped and nearly hit my head , polishing of brass - the small details make a difference. also visible service would be appreciated often waited long periods while all staff in kitchen to order something.

The staff were helpful, food was good, and overall stay was okay.
Too old now to cope with the walk to the bay front.

lovely location and facilities
very good breakfast
beautiful view
slow service sometimes at the restaurant
4.5 / 5.0
beautiful scenery, heritage and history of the place is well kept and the staff were wonderful!
the load-shedding (electricity cuts) were quiet annoying. It is a wider issue in all of South Africa, but I would expect a generator to kick in for the luxury rooms/villa, as opposed to in the Manor House only, considering how much I paid per night.

Most suitable location and in secluded own grounds but with easy access to walks up the hills. Breakfast was very good. Particularly pleased with the picnic breakfast requested when we had to leave very early in the morning for our flight home. Excellent dinner with all the food beautifully cooked.
An extra waste bin by the tea/kettle !

lovely spacious villa with private terrace and pool
the rope bridge we had to cross to get to the main building and the front gate, the lack of service during load shedding

great grounds including all the facilities you could want.

the main house and lawn area
A large portion of the property has had all of its trees and vegetation removed and the site is left completely barren and like a deforestation zone. Some rooms look directly onto this including ours. Our understanding of the retreat is a green and lush sanctuary as advertised and this was certainly not the case. Rooms are a bit dated too for the price.

the history, the location, the unusual old-new combination
