Convenient stop. Good breakfast when plates were available. They weren't!
Breakfast faculties. No proper size plates. Surly staff.
2.5
Amabilidad del personal. Hotel estilo "old fashion"
El Hotel necesita una renovación profunda. Instalaciones, habitaciones y baños vetustos y con cierta falta de mantenimiento.
3.0
Friendly staff, good buffet style breakfast, good shower, clean.
Bed was not great, creaked loudly with any movement, felt like head lower than feet. Photo on booking.com a little misleading, looks like there are gardens in front (i.e. looked like it sits in it'sown grounds... it does not.... in reality clever photo from across the road. Hotel felt dated and tired, reminded me of the Shining. Worst thing was the bar... unable to serve me a Negroni as more than 2 elements!?!? What nonsense! Overall didn't feel like a 3 star.

The property was quite good
Before you book check if they have bus loads of tourists arriving as they cater for them and not the solo or family travellers
4.0
Room was large and comfortable
WiFi was poor.
Different faucets in tub/shower. No hand holds in tub and had to step up into the tub
3.5
Handy location just off the A9, room was spacious, bar had plenty of nice whisky to choose from. Plenty of car parking. Staff on reception were very friendly and super helpful.
No food options after 8pm, there was a coach trip to an internal event so it was quite noisy. Getting in for breakfast was a nightmare with queues due to coach trip and then it was a buffet but not even self serve so I got 1 egg and waited ages for a coffee which wasn't worth drinking.

We looked for a trip break but couldn't find one with reasonable price on that day. Only Duke of Gordon has it.
Our room has weird layouts with the sockets in odd places. We had to plug the water cooker on the floor. The way to our building is through a hall. So when there's an event in the hall, we passed by awkwardly. The bathroom is nice but doesn't have hooks/hangers.

Nice place! Convenient for a round-trip by car.

Location was excellent, a 5 min walk from the train station. Lots of hiking trails nearby. Buffet breakfast was excellent.
During every shower the water pressure would repeatedly drop causing the shower water to become extremely hot. I had to step away from the water until it returned to a safe temperature. Also, the double bed was just two single beds pushed together so was not very comfortable
3.5
Nice location and excellent breakfast
In need of modernisation
4.0
Location was great, ideal base for a work meeting, golf and mountain biking!
Hotel exceeded expectations, and think better than it is advertised.
Staff all excellent from reception to breakfast and in the bar.
3.5
Lovely location, friendly staff.
Very noisy outside our window during the evening.

Breakfast ok
Noisy rooms ,poor shower

The breakfast was typical Scottish with wide choice hot or cold buffet and tea / coffee served. Plenty of friendly and helpful staff around. Evening meals were daily set menu, rather than a la carte, likely to suit the coach party trade. But the meals were good and great value. We stayed 2 nights at the Duke of Gordon as a stage base for a long distance hike. The location for Kingussie train station and bus stops was perfect allowing us to ride out and hike back, or hike out and ride back.
Our ‘superior’ room was on the ground floor looking onto a terrace, which was a little disappointing.
3.5
the location suited us, the bar was very good, the breakfast worked well, our room was in a quiet area.
our room and we assumed all rooms could do with a make over, the floors creaked terrible, bathroom needed updating.
3.5
Nice hotel, lots of character.
Slightly dated feel to the hotel.
4.0
cooked breakfast quality wasn't the best, but was OK
4.5
Hotel atmosphere was lovely! Staff were all lovely!
I couldn’t take a hot shower because the water heater temporarily shut down
2.5
To be fair the whole stay was a disappointment and there is nothing that we liked per se.
Photo are extremely deceiving! This is an hotel on side of road, everything is extremely outdated and would need refurbishment.
Mattress extremely uncomfortable, carpet in room dated to the max, unclear on the state of cleaning of them either.
Bathroom extremely dated and cleanish.
Food in pub limited and edible but not tasting amazing.
Breakfast buffet was alright, mostly cooked, limited on continental choice.
Not worth the money per room paid!
3.5
Willingness of the staff..
Efficient prompt service
Worn carpets .. and very tired entrance areas

Food was very good.

Great place to stay and a great selection gor breakfast with lively staff
The only problem we had was that we went down towards the end of the time for serving breakfast and it was getting put away on day 1. It seems geared to the coach party rather that people not on a tour. There was no system to show who still had to have breakfast. No giving a room number or anything. The staff made up a table for us (still 30 mins left) and got extra things. I think you need to make allowances for non coach guests that are not on such a tight schedule. if you want us to have breakfast earlier then change the time. However - we’ll definitely be back.

Staff were great
Rooms were very good but noise travels way too easily

good value
not as good as the first time we stayed…room a bit scruffy
3.5
Clean and warm. Friendly staff. Very well priced 4 course meal.
Breakfast was a bit industrial. the scrambled eggs were dry and had perhaps sat for too long in the warmer.

The location is great . Parking great . Staff were lovely
Breakfast wasn’t that nice we were on a breakfast deal but only ate once as didn’t think it was nice
3.5
We liked that breakfast was included in our deal. The young man at breakfast was very friendly.
The door handle was hanging off our bedroom door. During breakfast there seemed to be one member of staff who was giving the two younger servers a hard time. The young man in particular was very pleasant, we never got his name.we had been travelling all day and went to the bar to see about getting something to eat. There was only a full set menu. Additional options for light bites to eat in the evening would be nice.
