Bedroom spacious, very helpful at check in.
Bar ran out of some drinks on second night. Some dishes for dinner were excellent, some not so good, but overall better than I was expecting.

Good location, good size of the room and bed.
I was surprized by being asked for £50 additional deposit; the room had no small fridge, and the cleaners didn't show the next day.

Staff were great. Especially Charles (we think that was his name). We stayed as a group of three friends to attend our work christmas party and nothing was too much trouble. The staff waivered the fee of a 3rd guest, set up the spare bed for arrival and even brought a complimentary bottle of champagne to our room while we were getting ready.
The spa facilities for the morning after were a perfect detox.
Can’t fault the stay at all and will be recommending and booking again.
Thank you so much!

Staff were very friendly upon arrival and also at breakfast. The room was clean and the bathroom was a good size. The spa facilities were excellent - full suite of what you would expect: sauna, steam room, large jacuzzi, pool and plenty of loungers.
The quality of breakfast was to a high standard with a strong variety of cereals, fruits, hot plate and croissants. I didn't try the bar/lounge area but was told they provided similar meals to the restaurant with a more relaxed bar setting. It looked very welcoming - there was a TV showing sports and I would have tried if I hadn't of been going elsewhere into town.
All in all I felt the experience was impressive for the price.
My biggest issue was the £50 deposit the staff informed me about on arrival (for damages, but can also be used to spend in the hotel bar/restaurant). I really don't see a need for this - most other hotels of this standard do not require it. I had to spend time at check out getting it back onto my card. I felt sorry for the staff member attempting to justify it to me ("you can spend this behind the bar tonight haha" - despite it being my money of course.)
The spa area was very warm, I was sweating without having to go into the sauna. However other than this the area was to a very high standard. The gym had good facilities although not much space.
If you can remove the need for a £50 deposit upon arrival, I would have hardly any negative points!

Jessica on reception was so friendly and welcoming, after a very long day of working at an outdoor show, she made our anniversary stay so much better by swapping us to a double room (only twins were available when we booked). She must have put a note of our anniversary on the system, as when we went for dinner, we were surprised with a glass of bubbly at the end of our meal by Matt in the restaurant! Such a wonderful touch!
Matt in the Cast Iron Grill restaurant was such a great host. He was attentive, informative and gave us some amazing suggestions on wines to try. An unexpectedly personal and special night from a chain hotel!
The room was spacious, clean and the bed was so comfortable. With lots of lighting options, fluffy feather pillows, a good shower and easy checkout, I will definitely be staying again.
The food was amazing in the Cast Iron Grill, but could be considered a tad expensive for some. They have a great variety of small plates, starters, mains, fish and steaks - but for a three course meal and a bottle of wine, you could easily spend much more than the cost of the room. Perhaps a wider selection with more affordable wines and some lower priced simple main courses might help bring the cost of a meal down. This being said, it all tasted delicious and we had a wonderful experience.
