Nice big Manor House type property, layout a little jumbled but well presented for its age. Great location and stunning views.
Lack of relaxing seating in the bar area, bar not always attended. Food choices were good but quality of cooking was just ok, nothing special.

Had the luxury suite at a very reasonable price. It was gorgeous. Staff were kind and helpful (I have some mobility issues) . Fantastic view. Room was grand with lovely views, and it's own balcony. Can't praise it highly enough.
Nothing. It was wonderful.

The whole place and decor was marvellous. Parking area has charging point, this is a plus point. The room allocated to us was big and very comfortable. The bathroom is spotless and very modern.
The room where we were has no noise insulation from above as we could hear foot steps and it is quite noticeable.

Great location, beautiful building, friendly staff and delicious breakfast. We visited the Monkey Forest in Trentham and the World of Wedgwood as they are both nearby and great activities to do. Also walked the short distance (15 mins) to the Plume of Feathers pub which had excellent food for a reasonable price.
Upon arrival the lady on reception although lovely, was more interested in finishing her conversation with colleagues than greeting us and checking us in. We were made aware in advance of a wedding taking place during our stay, which was absolutely fine and we barely heard any disruptions from music etc…we were however given a room away from the rooms of the wedding guests, which happened to be an accessible room. It was however far smaller than we thought it would be, (pics online I think are quite deceiving in hindsight!) with the door to the room smacking into the bed as soon as you walk in. The decor was quite dated in the bedroom, with peeling wallpaper in parts. The walls were awfully thin; the gentleman in the room next door kept us awake throughout the night with his snoring! The room had a decent sized tv and super fast wifi advertised, however we found the wifi incredibly slow, and the tv wouldn’t load basic channels and the speaker was muffled, so made it painful to listen to! The bathroom was spacious given it was an accessible wet room, however the hot tap on the sink wasn’t hot at all, and the bathroom door rattled constantly if you had a window open even slightly. Overall a pleasant stay, however feel this is more a B&B primarily booked for functions, than a hotel. We paid £120 a night, whereas feel this could realistically have been £80-£90 per night.

The lounge area was comfortable and relaxing. Plenty of choice at breakfast.
The temperature in the rooms was too warm. Could not find all my reservations but luckily they were not full.

Very friendly staff, breakfast and cleanness of the room
I stayed in the room called ‘Queens’ whose balcony is shared with the room next door. The people stayed in the next door were using the balcony with their relatives and friends for drinking beer, which means the people can see the inside of my room as there was no curtain. Indeed I saw one old lady look at me rolling on the bed. It was uncomfortable. In addition, TV controller didn’t work.

Room cleanliness
Warning to all Booking.com users - be careful - on Booking.com there is no option for a bed, breakfast and dinner package, yet on the booking.com booking confirmation it states "Please note: for guests on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate, the dinner allowance is £30.00 per person".
It is therefore a reasonable expectation that booking up the room on booking.com and taking up the offer on the booking confirmation "Would you like to reserve a table in our restaruant for Dinner that evening? We have various times available between 6pm and 8.45pm. We look forward to welcoming you to our hotel. Kind Regards, Reception Team" that you would receive the £30/person discount as you've booked dinner, bed and breakfast.
At the time of booking and checking out, this was not true.
Only bookings made through the hotel website, requesting the dinner, bed and breakfast rate, were eligible.
Having raised this misinformation, as a gesture of goodwill, the hotel reduced the bill by £30.00.
I've asked the hotel staff to change the booking.com wording.

I was warned beforehand that a wedding celebration could affect noise levels so that was fair enough. My room was above the disco so it was loud for a while. I suggest that guests check for a similar situation especially if staying on a Saturday however, it did not spoil my stay.
The parking was good which I again queried especially because of the wedding. The hotel said that staff would double park in the event of restricted spaces. So they were very helpful and answered all my questions in a truthful way.
The gardens were superb with a dramatic view over the valley.
The hotel has an interesting history which is depicted in some beautiful murals in the dining room.

Location very nice and quiet.
Staff in the dining room polite friendly and helpful.
Waiting 55 minutes for breakfast on the first morning because there was an event that seemed to take priority over residents - not warned about this when booking in the night before.
No oatcakes
Mattress hard and very uncomfortable.
Room very warm and unable to turn the radiator down or off.
Shabby furniture, namely bedside cabinets.
Probably wouldn't recommend nor book again

What I really liked was that the bedroom was a good size and was on the corner of the building so there was plenty of light. There was also a French window which went out onto a terrace with chairs and tables. In the better weather this would be a lovely place to sit. The bed was very comfortable with extra pillows if required. The breakfast was very nicely cooked and there was plenty of choice of hot food. The triptych in the dining room was fascinating.
Nothing.
