Good choice of foods and fresh fruit to suit all dietary requirements. Well maintained hotel and very clean. Gardens and grounds well kept. All Staff very pleasant and helpful. The guest relationship lady (sorry I didn’t get her name) was especially helpful with good advice on tours etc.. Nice indoor and outdoor pool.
Poor quality beds for a 5 star hotel, my back is now stiff and upon my arrival back to uk I had to book an appointment with an osteopath. All the Nescafé sachet and milk portions in the rooms were not replenished every day. You had to request this with housekeeping which I did on 3 occasions.. for a 5 star hotel this needs to change and coffee etc should be replenished as courtesy. Coffee at breakfast was of poor quality with limited choice of hot beverages. Sun loungers uncomfortable especially when lying on then all day.

The staff was excellent. The rooms were spotless, and the views spectacular.
The buffet(s) were fair at BEST..... I would stick to the alacart restaurants.

The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make sure our experience was well-cared for. I'm currently 5 months pregnant and they made sure I had an extra pillow in the bedroom and facilitated the spa treatment for me. One particular member, Braulo, was especially attentive and friendly, always taking care of our needs, remembering our orders and got me a fresh decaf coffee so I didn't have to use the machine! (Little things ha!)
The facilities were great; the pool was clean and the pool staff were exceptionally attentive with care around the pool and providing parasols and location of them for optimum shade. There was a room to play pool, T.V, entertainment in the evening, the gardens were lovely to walk round and easy, secure access down onto the promenade was great!
The room was clean and tidied every day, the shower worked very well, and the balcony was nice to sit out on.
The food was excellent! There was an extensive range of options for breakfast and dinner (we were half board), and 3 other restaurants to book in as part of the cost. Beware of the divine dessert, ha! Make sure to ask for bacon at breakfast, as this wasn't clear, and we missed out for a few days.
I will have to be nitpicky to highlight areas that we "didn't like," as it was mostly great! The rooms were lovely however, ours could have had more of a thorough polish/dust before we checked in. For me, I would have preferred to have the same filtered decaf coffee as normal filtered coffee, rather than using the machine. There was one occasion were we queried if our no-alcohol shandy was in fact that, as it tasted different, and the restaurant manager kind of fobbed us off. He could have been more attentive and offered more lemonade, etc.

Dina on reception was wonderful and most helpful.
Food was good.

Good selection for breakfast, good size room, didn't use the pool. As we checked in late and missed the evening meal, we were offered a voucher to use for lunch.
The extra bed was not put in our room on arrival. No iron in room, had to ask reception and was only allowed to use it for one hour. A little bit away from the main attractions.

quiet location, optimal for pensioners
a bit outdated design, cracking in the piping system every 2-3 hours probably due to the age-very noisy, low quality meal for breakfast and especially for dinners-we tried the dinner twice in the hotel but it was so bad that we decided for the next 7 days other restaurants, not professional cleaning staff(cleaning lady was moving my private things from one room to the next, reorganising private things in the bathroom, etc).
be aware that the suits are also in lower floors, even the offers looks like the suits are in the top floor.

Room side. Had an issue and it was dealt with marvellously. Beyond expectation.
As previously mentioned to front desk - some issues in the room and slow service in buffet restaurant.

Sea view from room balcony and overlooking swimming pool and gardens was beautiful. Great place to sit and read a book or have a drink and relax.
I liked that the hotel had three different restuarants to eat in if you booked ahead instead of the buffet each night.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
The food in the buffet could have been laid out much better with things like bread/rolls and butter being near each other. Or fruit being all in one place. Also clearer labels on the food would help those on special diets or with allergies find things they could eat quicker. Unable to get decaffinated coffee at breakfast or with evening meal ?why
The self service buffet became a bit caotic when busy with no obvious direction of flow and a bit of a free for all. Accidents with hot food were narrowly missed on occasions.
The food choice when you found it was good and plentiful.

Great staff, everyone was very helpful. Very clean rooms, the cleaning staff did an excellent job every day.
The restaurant was very crowded, the space where the buffet is prepared is not suitable for so many guests. A long wait for ordered drinks. We booked a "family room" with 4 beds (1 double and 2 single) and basically it were two extra beds squeezed into a normal room - there was literally like 30 cm place to get to the balcony.

Location wasn't the best but access to the promenade board walk that goes along the coast was amazing. The pools are really nice and the staff are friendly. Garden was nice, very well kept.
It felt outdated,it gave a sense of old charm however it felt like its barely holding on to that. The cost wasn't outrageous, but the food wasn't spectacular. The breakfast was mediocre and the dinner buffet was even worse,it was convenient so ill give it thar. Lighting in the hallways was awful,it was dark and dank. Walls are thin, neighbors were loud and if you have anyone above you,you will hear them. One thing I should make clear it caters to the elderly. So for younger couples I wouldn't reccomend it. Unless you're okay with that. We didn't mind it but we did feel slightly out of place.

superb location fabulous views great pool area and lovely promenade walk right outside
Food offering at breakfast was 4 star at best and two specialty restaurants Cabo gireo and Italian were 3 star and very poor

Facilities and staff are superb including Carolina who was superb and made my birthday celebrations special.
I don't take pork and wish they can improve on labelling their dishes more in English as can be frustrating having to constantly ask what's in the food and only to find out that it contained pork.

The food buffet was fantastic for both breakfast and dinner, the hotel is located on the edge of a cliff and has a beautiful walkway along the cliff.
The indoor pool was cold!

welcoming staff, choice of food, swimming pool and sauna and large room with Vera view.
The courtesy wine for my birthday and a flower in the international women’s day were really nice surprises.
My only concern is parking. we didn’t have any trouble parking in the garage this time but I wonder if it becomes harder to park in the summer?! the advert says clearly parking is not guaranteed; however I’d prefer to travel to a different place knowing that parking won’t be a problem (even if that’s included in the fee).

jacuzzi only for 16+
we were traveling in February and they said its a heated indoor pool. and thats why we booked it. well they forget to say that the pool is connected to the outdoors pool so its freaking cold. after the very fast swim in the pool we quickly went to get warm in jacuzzi but the stuff took us out as it was for 16+ kids, so we were left freezing and must left. although its called family hotel. also, if you are in your pension, this is a place to be because thats the crowd which is staying there. no offence.

Old chairs and broken chairs. Lack of service knowledge from the staff.
Never can give 5 stars to that property

Hotel is great, service super nice and helpful, you can arrange everything you need. My wife had a birthday while we were there, we received a bottle of champagne just like that. Food at restaurants is really great too, lots of options.
If you book this hotel for beach proximity - reconsider. On map it looks close, but as many things in Funchal, you cannot just go down there as hotel is on a cliff.

The indoor swimming pool was very nice, the view from the room was amazing, the breakfast and dinner had variety and was very tasty. The staff was very usefull and nice. They were with no doubt the highlight of the stay. The attention provided and the extra mile was just what made the difference.
The carpet under the bed could be a bit better cleaned. When checking under the bed for items the kids may have dropped, I found maltesers.

Excellent location on the rock of Ponta da Cruz, with beautiful ocean and Funchal views, location in a quiet area, close to shopping mall Forum Madeira, the bus stop, restaurants…
Excellent room, nice balcony with a beautiful seaview, outdoor pool area and surrounding tropical gardens view.
Kudos to the hotel for excellent maintenance of tropical plants and gardens.
Nice outdoor unheated pool, unfortunately the water is too cold for swimming in November, smaller indoor pool with a pleasant water temperature of around +25 - 26 degrees Celsius.
Excellent breakfast with a terrace next to the outdoor pool area.
Parking in the underground garage. WIFI.
Special thanks to the hotel for the performance of the excellent Bailinho da Madeira group.
Outdoor unheated pool, unfortunately the water is too cold for swimming in November.
Dinner could be better, small part of the staff in the restaurant needs additional training, a smile is free.

Nice range of food for breakfast. Location is great and has a shopping centre nearby. Entertainment provided daily.
Bed/mattress wasn’t that comfortable.

The experience we had in this hotel was quite pleasant indeed! The territory is beautiful, the pool and the gardens are amazing, rooms are spacious and most are facing the ocean. The food at the buffet restaurant and a-la-carte restaurants was great. Amenities (including a local shopping mall) are just 5 minutes walk from the hotel, while it’s super peaceful and quiet at the hotel itself.
SPA booking unfortunately was not easy. It was a challenge to make an appointment and then they nearly cancelled if not for our persistence.
also, the cleaning of the rooms was not very good. we ordered room service (which was rather good and delivered fast) but then the plates we took out of the room stayed in the corridor throughout the night without anyone picking them up. The bottle of wine we ordered on the day we arrived stayed in the bucket of water for three days in our room. the cleaning staff didn’t take it out.

everything! restaurant choices, lovely suite and balconies, great views
no drawers in our suite. no mirror or dressing table in the bedroom. nowhere to plug in chargers by the bed. no shelves or drawers in the bathroom. shower cubicle leaked all over the bathroom floor. there was a metal door stop on the bathroom floor right in front of the right hand sink and I kept hitting my foot on it.
