The location was fantastic as were the staff
The hotel was quite dated and our room was not cleaned properly. Rubbish left under furniture and long hairs all over shower wall.
3.6
The look of the hotel is very unique and interesting. Location is excellent as closer to Marwell Zoo entrance than their own car park.
The pool is good for kids and generally quiet.
The restaurant was very dirty. Stained chairs. Food on the carpet from the day before. Tables not cleaned and disinfected between guests.
Decor is generally good but maintenance is poor, with many small repairs needed.
Swimming pool has a brown ring of dirt around it. The tiles are a major slip hazard when wet. One of the showers is faulty and cold. Got a massive splinter from the sauna, which is in need of renovation.

Peaceful
2 single beds put together not a double bed

Clean, comfortable, & wonderful location! Staff helpful and welcoming.
The fire alarm that woke the children but so grateful they work and pick up what they need to!
3.6
Lovely location. Reasonable size room. Good view
Needs refurbishment. Tired furnishings and needs modernising and decorating. No water to drink in room. No shampoo. Half a toilet roll. Pool area felt dirty. This could be such a lovely hotel. Didnt try included breakdast as felt it wouldnt meet expectations. No charging units by beds for phones. Terrible old hairdryer

Nice rural setting, area around is very nice
Pool area and other parts of the hotel need some attention and tlc.
Mattress was soft and wasn't comfy. Had a fire alarm go off after 11pm.
3.6
Breakfast was OK, location was good.
Cooked food for breakfast could of been slightly warmer.

The location
The room was outdated, and the bed was very uncomfortable. The bathroom was in poor condition. There was black mould in the shower area . The wash basin counter was water damage and was delaminating. There wasn't a toilet brush and no spare toilet paper.
The finish in the room was poor, and the entrance door was very heavy and was difficult to open and wheel your case in. The price of items brought in the bar were ridiculous. There wasn't any information given about facilities and the signs were in poorly placed.

The breakfast was nice - it was also good that it went on until 10.30am. The hotel surroundings are nice and peaceful.
The rooms were too hot - because the doors led out to a shared balcony / walk way it wasn't very private to have the door open to let air in and also couldn't have the doors open at night. Would have been better to have a window to open. Also would have been nice to have swimming times for the pool e.g. when kids wouldn't be in there.
3.6
The hotel is in quite place, the room was clean, bed was comfortable, open buffet English breakfast was good.
There could be a coffee machine or tea machine for breakfast so people could have tea or drink as much as they like.
3.6
Lovely unusual setting. Very quiet. The property seemed well maintained. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was great.
The toilet had not been flushed which seemed odd as the bathroom was clean.
I was woken at 3.00am by very loud banging in the heating system. It stopped after about 15 minutes.
The room was rather dark as it didn’t face the sun.
No alternative to cow milk at breakfast.

The grounds are lovely around the hotel. The glass walkways linking the reception to the rooms are magical for kids and adults alike, as you immediately feel like you are on safari. Rooms were clean and spacious, but dated. Breakfasts were great and staff were very accommodating of dietary needs. The swimming pool was a bonus. My kids loved the experience.
The hotel would benefit from some maintenance and updating. The doors as you enter the hotel are so heavy and quite unfriendly to disabled guests. The sink didn't drain in the bathroom in the first room we were given and the second had no radiators working and heat was instead supplied by oil filled radiators. Better not to be cold, but this is not a normal experience for a guest in a hotel and an office room off the reception was full of oil filled radiators, suggesting a bigger problem with the central heating. I previously stayed here 17 years ago on my wedding night and disappointingly the rooms didn't look much different and could do with modernising. We enjoyed our experience all the same though as Marwell is a unique experience.

Clean, good value, nice breakfast, lots of choice. Pretty setting.
No complaints.

As always, i had a lovely stay. I always stay here if im working in the area. Food is always excellent and staff are always happy to help.
No issues on this occasion.

The breakfast was varied and of good quality. The room was comfortable and tidy, and the amenities worked well. The bed was clean and comfortable and the cleaners did a good job. Staff are really friendly and helpful throughout the hotel.
Bathrooms require a little updating, and the fire alarm went off early one morning due to sensitivity. I cannot fault the staff nor breakfasts served.

We were visiting for a wedding in a local venue so needed to check in earlier - we were able to leave our details and take a card to allow us to check in properly once we returned after the wedding. The bedrooms are nice, everything you need for a short stay
It was very hot in the room, even with the weather being fairly poor outside it felt too hot, with only a small fan to help. The rooms are fairly dated, which fits in with the rustic charm and makes it feel like you're actually in the jungle sort of, but also does need a bit of updating! The only 2 decent lagers at the bar were both off.

loved the layout of the hotel.
pool was a lovely addition
our room was dated and dirty. staff were all grumpy young staff who were abrupt and rude. breakfast was poor quality especially the sausage and over cooked eggs. my daughter has an allergy and when we asked for clarification she huffed and pointed out what she couldn’t have but expected us to use the same serving spoon to serve it. really bad cross contamination
3.6
Location good initial check in good. Our room bath was blocked moved to another room bath already full of water that would not drain. 3rd room tv not working .
On website bar menu cheaper than restaurant in reality it was not. Went to local pub for tea.
Bedrooms need to be checked before new guests. Food should be as advertised on web site.
3.6
Noisy from children’s party, rooms very dated
3.6
The reception staff were really friendly and helpful
Bar and restaurant staff were not very attentive as they were not always available, and on 2 occasions, the reception staff had to go and find the bar staff.
there was also a strong damp smell in the corridors.

Location
Breakfast was awful...waited 49mins...1 poor young girl trying to serve everyone

Great stop over before our cruise from Southampton
All ok
3.6
very helpful staff as had disabled daughters with me
corridors to rooms very cold in that cold spell weather
3.6
great for work , swimming pool and sauna a great advantage as was ample parking in a quiet area
shower water pressure very low
3.6
The convenience and area. The ease of booking. The size of the room was adequate for what we needed.
The pool was fully booked which was a reason why we booked the hotel rather than elsewhere.
The beds were 2 beds pushed together which were not at the same height.
3.6
The setting was good.
It was cold in the open areas. And the food served was average.
3.6
Staff were friendly room was immaculate
3.6
Having visited the zoo the location is perfect - The style of the rooms in lodges is great especially as you get views looking out into wild woodlands.
The room was really hot at night despite the radiator being turned off.
There was a wedding party in but Breakfast was really slow and unorganised. We had to wait ages for a table even after booking it, the dining room was messy and we had to ask for hot water, cups and plates and more of some of the food, but finding staff for this was difficult.
3.6
The facilities and food for the wedding reception were really good.
The breakfast was extremely disappointing. There was little selection for a continental type breakfast. The hot food was at best lukewarm on both both mornings. On the second morning they ran out of butter and had no teaspoons readily available.
3.6
We stayed Friday and Saturday nights for a wedding and the evening meals for both were excellent. The 2 outstanding members of staff were the (excuse the description but nobody had name tags) Brunette and Blonde waitresses/bar staff, they were friendly and fun and couldn't have been more helpful, thank you.
The breakfast was terrible, sausages were barely cooked (not browned at all), bacon was barely cooked, cold mushrooms, scrambled egg was just a big lump, poached eggs sloppy. It was so bad we went out for breakfast the second day. Stayed in room 313 and the shower had next to no pressure.
