Enjoyed our very lovely stay at The Stable. I was impressed to find that they have been hosting since 2001 and their professionalism and quality were superb. The host was available for any questions. Extremely organized messages to help utilize home appliances. My husband and I are retired firefighters and we were both impressed with the attention to fire safety with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers along with a message to close the kitchen door during sleep that would help minimize the spread of a potential fire. Plenty of extra linens, a comfy bed, and perfect pillows. I completely felt like I went back in time and was visiting Grandma again with homemade bread and sweet cake for midnight snacking or morning breakfast. I love, love, loved my stay, and would return in a heartbeat. Figured out bus routes and train departures and we got around like pros. Location was perfect for visiting Salisbury, Winchester, Southampton, and the airport. Thank you for such a wonderful visit.
The only thing I would suggest is to provide a hairdryer. I had started our trip with my own hairdryer only to have it burn up on our first day. I was reluctant to buy one in Europe due to having a European plug which wouldn't have made sense we live in the US. But honestly, I was able to manage through it.

We were delighted by the welcome pack including delicious home made cake and bread, and cereal, fruit and milk. A very well equipped cosy cottage, good shower and comfy bed. Quiet location and own parking space all made for an excellent stay!
Nothing! Wished we could have stayed longer!

The Stable was a wonderful place to stay - as the name suggests, a converted stable of the original cottage. It had everything we could have wanted and our hosts provided a great welcome pack and every little extra that we may have needed.
For us as a couple, it was a great size, with safe and secure parking and access. There were excellent instructions throughout the property and a very useful information pack. Access to the roads and surrounding area was easy. We walked up to one of the local pubs one evening for a couple of drinks and some wonderful food.
There was nothing to fault in our experience.

A lovely welcome pack with home made bread, lemon drizzle cake, milk, butter etc. was a lovely touch. The owners Mike and Hilary were very welcoming, the accommodation was spotlessly clean and well equipped. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.
Everything was great, no complaints whatsoever.

We had a lovely stay. Well equipped and in a private setting, the property had everything we needed for a short break, or longer if desired. There was a lot of useful information about the property and surrounding area. The bed was really comfortable! The hosts Mike and Hilary were really friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and the welcome pack was lovely.
We happened to stay during a cold snap with frost every morning, so it's probably not a regular issue, but the property didn't really get very warm for the duration of our stay. The instructions to adjust the heating were useful and clear, but even with the heating on constantly it was slow to warm up. The radiators seemed small, and condensation on the bedroom ceiling suggeted it isn't very well insulated. It was quite dusty, especially under the bed.

A lovely miniature home from home. Hillary and Mike are very inviting hosts, and the goodies were delicious.
Location is great. Quiet but easy to get to.

Comfy Bed.
There is no on site parking, you have to park across the road.
The tumble dryer is outside in a small shed with access to it through the garden of the cottage.
The main picture is of the cottage and is misleading as it’s not where you stay and should be removed from the listing.
Black marks on the bed sheet.
Musty smell on entry to property.

Everything. A lovely place to stay with excellent facilities and lovely touches such as cake, bread, biscuits, milk etc on arrival. Post booking communication was excellent. Location was perfect for local attractions such as walks, beaches, interesting places (Winchester, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight etc.). Also for local shops, pubs and other places of interest to walk or cycle. Would recommend the Brigadier Gerard pub over The Lapstone.

Mike and Hilary were both friendly and helpful without being intrusive. As other customers have previously stated, the welcome food pack was hugely appreciated - fresh bread, milk, lemon drizzle cake, fresh fruit, jams, cereal and margarine meant that we could relax on our arrival without rushing off to the shops. The accommodation was very compact offering a good size bathroom and bedroom with everything that you need in the kitchen (cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and even a washing machine). Close enough for visits to Winchester (recommend Park and Ride), New Forest and the coast.
Loved everything, shower could have had a longer hose

Mike and Hilary are superb hosts and made us feel very welcome with an excellent assortment of bread, cake and breakfast items - in fact, the Stable was extremely well kitted out in every respect with ample cleaning products and toiletries. The accommodation is entirely separate from the very pretty main house and is a decent size for two people, with a small outside seating area for when the weather is good. It was very comfortable throughout and the wifi, streaming TV, and kitchen equipment were all very good. Definitely to be recommended.
