Property is situated in along the road but was still quiet. Beds are soft & comfortable. The owner was also very nice. It is actually a property with so much potential. unfortunately, the owner doesn't have staff to help him him provide full service as such keeping the bar & kitchen going. Hence, it is basically a place to sleep. Not a problem though since there are café's just outside of the hotel.
Sad that it cannot provide full service due to lack of staff. I can imagine how wonderful it would have been.

GREAT HISTORICAL HOTEL IN A CHARMING TOWN. KIND HELPFUL & HOSPITABLE STAFF. WE APPRECIATED THE TRADITIONAL LAYOUT WITH THE TWO QUEEN BEDS AND ENJOYED THE TOWN.

my room was upgraded with no extra charge.

Paid extra for a four poster bed room which squeak with any tiny movement and the mattress was so uncomfortable and had a terrible nights sleep, the shower was terrible no pressure at all and there was no bath plug for the bath also. No staff after 9pm to sort the problems out.

Room is very old and it was not fully cleaned, I found some rubbish under the bed.

room was okay.
Did not appreciate making the traveller pay cash on arriving even after being booked through the company. Than also charged more than the price i reserved on booking.com!
when our traveller asked for a receipt, they gave him a blank one to fill out himself! I assume to allow him to increase his expense claim.
All very underhand. if your booking on behalf of a business then please aviod!

I liked that the owner made me buy him a drink for getting the room so cheap
There was no duvet cover on the bed, the decor was very rustic and of that seen in the 70’s. The cups in the room were dirty and no coffee was on offer. If I had not booked though booking.com I would have ended up paying an extra £20 (which was discounted from his original price or £90 apparently).
He would not accept card payment for the room.
The shower was seen better days amd it took about 10 mins for the hot water to come through. However when it did it couldn’t be adjusted and was scalding hot.
Now I’m not one to complain but what did bite the biscuit was when the owner called me the next day to ask where we left his key (on the bed as asked) he became adamant that we stayed in a different room even though he dropped off extra towels the night before.
I am lost for words. And will be giving this place a wide berth in the future.
I feel a bit bad writing this however it did bail us out in an utter emergency so we were very grateful and I do think they were decent people.

Staff where fantastic and very helpful, the bed was warm and really comfortable and the room was a good size. I've spent a lot more money for a lot worse. The bad reviews are unwarranted in my opinion. It's a budget price and gets you all you need. The lady who booked me in even moved her car so I'd have room to park my van. Very helpful and worked hard.
I'd like a more modern shower and bathroom but at this money it was fine.

I was telephoned and asked what time I would be getting there. I said around 8pm after dropping bags at airport. Then he explained he would not be there and how to get in to property via metal fire escape to first floor, saying our room which would be left open. Due to the layout, this meant going down a floor once inside and was really confusing. There was no one to meet us when we arrived, despite paperwork in room saying someone would be there until 11pm. The fire escape was dangerous as I walk with a stick. Did not feel safe having the firescape door being left open all night. Having to leave before anyone from reception arrived at work, the trip down the fire escape was more hazardous as the outside light was behind me and couldn't see the next step.

location was brilliant, staff welcomed me late in the evening and gave me a room upgrade due to low number of guests.
Unfortunately there were other VERY noisy guests laughing and talking loudly in their room from midnight-2am. I went into the hallway to ask them to be quiet but they didn’t hear. I used a cup before noticing how terribly dusty it was- it must have been there uncleaned for a long time. There was no bath mat so getting out of the shower I had to stand on the cold bathroom floor and dripped water all over it. also the bathroom bin was not empty when I arrived. Oh and lots of hairs in the bath and bed!

it was a good location to where I needed to be
dated, flickering light in room, no hot water, no plug to bath, couldn’t get any breakfast

Nothing was to a minimum
There was no staff even at the reception. No staff at all. Extremely regret for using the hotel and will never ever use it again. Really bad value for money.

The room is decorated in a retro 70s style - this has possibly been maintained from the 70s era! Room comfortable and value for money for a one night stay.
In the room, there is information to suggest a complimentary breakfast is available but when we enquired about this, it was not available at all!. A lack of lighting upon arrival made the atmosphere in the pub quite dingy and you had to watch your footing also due to the darkness. Some cheap low energy lamps could make the place more inviting and safer - the pub was empty on a Saturday afternoon. The credit card machine was broken but instead of offering me to use the back up machine at the bar, I was told to go to Tescos and try and pay in cash. That Tescos do not do cash back and after a long journey, this was an unwelcome start to my stay.

Nothing! Restaurant closed so no breakfast! We checked out after one night and will never return. Lost a days paid room but better than remaining there.

The pictures of the hotel advertised on booking.com
Are not true.there is know restaurant to get food! There is know entrance to get in or out after hours apart from a fire door which is constantly unlocked up a small metal staircase at the end of the building. The shared bathroom is a cupboard with a shower in it which I might ad is filthy dirty! There is no facility'sin the room ie kettle and cups to make a cup of tea or coffee as advertised and the room was dirty
