Lovely staff. Excellant food in the inn. Beautiful location
Great spa facilities.
Having booked an accessible room with walk in shower, making sure it was allocated and confirmed by the hotel, both by e mail and two phone calls. We arrived to find someone 15 mins earlier had been given it. They only had one. We were able to check in from 14-00 we arrived at 14-25. The lady confirmed we had requested it and so called the duty manager. We had to accept a room which had a shower over the bath which my disabled husband couldn’t use! Having travelled a long way he did not feel comfortable to go in the fine dining room which we had planned. We were given a complementary bottle of white wine but it wasn’t anything special and didn’t really compensate for our disappointment. Couldn’t fault anything else but this was an honest review of our personal disappointment.

Lovely bouncy beds, comfy rooms, thick curtains slept well
If you have a dog you’re treated like a leper. Surely there should be dog friendly areas that aren’t in separate buildings??

Dining room was closed for evening meal.

It was a lovely hotel but it needs a lot of work dated in it’s starting to look very run down
The staff they did come across very friendly and where not very helpful when we ask where anything was they just said over there we ended up going back a couple of times as they didn’t explain anything properly

The spa was fantastic, well managed and super clean. Our bedroom was incredibly clean and the bed very comfy. We were surprised how nice the breakfast was, it was always fully stocked and hot and the baked goods tasted fresh - the conservatory area was very pleasant in the morning. The grounds were well kept and we couldn’t fault the staff who always went above and beyond. It’s not a sleek hotel and is dated, but definitely good value for money all things.
The rooms are dated, but clean. The spa gowns were too small for the men in our group and they had run out so only a few in our group got them. The electric car charging was not working. The rooms are quite noisy and can hear other guests. All these were slight inconveniences and I wouldn’t be put off booking.

Quiet location.
Pool and spa were good
Excellent breakfast
No hot water on first day.
Little information about this, and no remuneration, such as a drink on the house for example.
Some areas rather shabby and could do with a coat of paint

Very relaxing stay. Lovely staff, good swimming pool, lovely food, excellent service in the Ramblewood bar from Andy H and the team.
Would really rather not have had breakfast in lounge on low down settee. We couldn’t go in the restaurant because we had a dog with us. It would have been simple to let us eat in a separate space to others and let us sit at a table!

Enjoyed a swim before a very nice breakfast
Paths to car park were slightly slippery with leaves

Beautiful hotel, steeped in history, well presented and maintained. Breakfast was perfect. Really couldn't be happier
The shower was a bit dated. Temperature fluctuation from cold to surface of the sun hot.

The only big let down was the pool area
All needs a lick of paint
And wasn’t told when I called to book pool times you could only use it while checked in
Check out was 11 we wanted to have lunch then have a swim but couldn’t unless we paid £25 each

The triple room we had was huge so we could really spread out, the pool was fantastic complete with hot tub, steam room & sauna. We spent the evening at the adjoining pub, we had a good dinner (with a decent kids menu), we had a few drinks whilst the kids played pool. Recelption was very helpful when I had issues with my phone, even lending me a charger!
The hotel probably needs a bit of updating but overall we had a great stay.

Our room was down a very smelly corridor. The room itself was clean but needed refurbishment and a bit of tlc

Breakfast was lovely and very helpful staff and my partner had a lovely head massage
The room neeeded to be updated I think it was built in 1966 and refurbished in 1968! rooms are very tired looking

Photos are pretty deceiving! The spa and restaurants are not as pictured. The grounds are nice and well maintained.
Our room was very old scruffy and stained with hairs in the bathroom. The place is very very old fashioned - and the "restaurant" is more of a pub that happens to do some food.

A lovely old building in beautiful grounds, we upgraded to a 4 poster room which was extremely spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Nice robe and slippers we provided. The climate of the room was comfortable unlike the breakfast room. The food in the restaurant/bar was very good.
I was disappointed with the decor of the room, with old wall paper peeling off in places, seeing as i had upgraded i was disappointed with plastic cups instead of glasses for the water. The toiletries were cheap again seeing as i had paid for an upgrade. The breakfast room was so hot it was uncomfortable to eat in, you would have thought with the price of heating they would turn this down.

Friendly staff, location and historic building
The place needs a revamp.... feels very tired. Breakfast was poor for the price.

Breakfast
Pub on site
Location was convenient for our needs
A little 'tired' decor in places
Plumbing very noisy from other rooms
A lot of noise from other guests until gone 2am - loud talking and slamming doors which is out of your control but would affect my decision to stay again. Restarted at 5.30am so not much sleep.
The pub dining area is very sparse
