Lovely clean room with comfortable beds. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The roaring fire in the bar was very welcome during a cold snap!
The parking was bit of an issue. Returning late, I was unable to get a space in the car park on 2 nights of a 4 night stay and had to park on the road. There was a lot of furniture in the room and I had to move the chair everytime I wanted to get into the wardrobe.

Delightful staff. Good fresh food

Exceptional staff ,Breakfast was perfect very clean throughout the hotel
The evening meal was ok but the cheese and biscuits was appalling the state of the cheese was end of life and not edible at so unfortunately I had to complain which I didn’t like doing

Comfortable, quiet well appointed room with double bed and bath/shower facilities. Excellent breakfast served in their lovely dining room. Hotel was full of character, enjoyed looking at the tribute to Mary Queen of Scots and sitting outside in the garden area.

The hotel and staff were excellent as were the meals we ate there. Nothing was too much trouble, right down to providing a bucket and cloth to wash off Bird poo that was splattered over my car when I foolishly parked beneath the trees in the car park. Lesson Learnt!
There was nothing that made me unhappy with the stay.

I was genuinely surprised here, the hotel was lovely, with so much character, i loved reading all the bits of history on the walls, and i got the mary queen of scots room, which was just lovely, everything was great, and i don't usually sleep well away from home but slept brilliantly in the big beds. Food was good, staff were really lovely. I would 100% stay again. But still 9.9/10
My only "minor" gripe was the lack of power in the shower, something that always bothers me, and the windows are really old so don't close fully and roadworks outside. But absolutely not the hotels fault.

Room and bed quality. Location. Bar atmosphere and whiskey.
Have stayed many times at the Talbot. There is enough to like that I keep coming back.
Parking is easy.
The hotel is dog friendly, and provide a blanket and water bowl, excellent.
The prices are excellent value for money, given the place does have atmosphere.
1. Historically the wi-fi connectivity in some rooms is unusable. I remedy this by asking for a room with good connectivity every time I stay. The hotel kindly locates me in a room with good wi-fi. However, it is a pain to have to remember to do this every time. The bottom line is all rooms should have very good connectivity, it's a hotel. I do hope this has been resolved.
2. Breakfast buffet area is frankly poor quality. Cooked breakfast is just about passable.

everything was as usual excellent, this includes food, room, staff (especially helpful staff) and general ambiance. I must prise again the hardworking staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Very well appointed room, excellent toiletries, Reception staff excellent, serving staff mainly very good but some staff need to pay more attention to lone travellers. Wonderful location, good car parking, nice gardens.
Have had better breakfasts, very small selection for a continental breakfast, bacon undercooked, poached egg , white not set, had to request bread basket to be filled. Toaster very slow!

The room was quiet and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The garden and public areas of the Talbot are pleasant and relaxed and the staff are helpful. A good quiet yet central location with a good car park to which accurate directions are given in advance.
The food was not quite as good as our previous visit when it had been outstanding. We had an extremely large bathroom but there was a lack of surfaces on which to put or hang things. The bathroom was full of empty space and some of the edges of the floor were not too clean.

Breakfast and evening meal were very good (try the beetroot risotto!). Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff, as always, were friendly and helpful. Two but only small things could maybe be improved - safe in the room for valuables and more plug charger points.
Liked all but couple of things could be improved - see above.

very helpful staff found a space to store our bikes safely. our room at the top of the ancient oak staircase was very good. great breakfast too
No complaints!

nothing ever where I looked was of high quality

Room and bathroom lovely.
Did not like baked beans or some sort of beans with sea bream -
would have preferred a nice creamy sauce with parsley
Fish dish.

Breakfast and location
I asked for a taxi to be ordered to take me to the train station. The receptionist forgot to make the booking and I missed my train and hence my meeting in London. Not impressed!

Great, central town location, steeped in history yet comfortably adapted for 21st century travellers, with friendly, courteous and helpful staff throughout the establishment who clearly believe that ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression.’ That’s why we will continue to return whenever we’re in that part of the country.

Warm welcome at reception and efficient check-in.
The car park is quite small, but we were able to get a permit to use it.
Room was comfortable and well furnished.
Dinner in the reataurant had an imaginative menu and the food was tasty and good quality. Likewise breakfast.
Staff all pleasant and helpful.
Restaurant staff a bit disorganised, but very pleasant.
Access to room was qquite narrow and involved a long walk from carpark and negotiating quite steep stairs. No lift, but that's to be expected, given the age of the property.
4.5
Beautiful room. Lovely location. Restaurant very good.
Slightly aloof staff. Rooms incredibly hot despite having radiator off and window open.

Lovely hotel in great village of Oundle. Good friendly helpful staff and nice finishing touches in the room.
Left an Apple watch and phone charger behind which was plugged in the room which wasn't found and therefore wasn't returned :(

As above

Beautiful building, lovely rooms, great restaurant and very nice breakfast. The staff were amazing too.
It was all good.

A beautiful historic building in the centre of town. We were fortunate to be upgraded to larger rooms which was brilliant. The evening menu was varied and the food was all of great quality. Service was excellent. Cooked breakfast was equally good.
The hotel was very busy at breakfast, this did not affect our service and we were seated in the bar area where it was quiet, which suited us. The continental breakfast was rather sparse on our arrival but we all ordered cooked and so this did not matter to us. I assume that top ups were available if requested.
