Lovely food and comfortable rooms.
A bit noisy during the day but it was quieter at night
4.2
Room as described small double, comfortable and clean, great shower, bathroom a bit small
I thought I had bought a Room inc Breakfast ,turns out I didn't, of course you can never find the exact page you had on Booking dot com that you are sure you had the deal on, hey ho £15 a head for Breakfast which wa good but could have done without the charge

Room was lovely Will return with girlfriend
Slightly out in the sticks so unable to commute with functions unless using taxi service which I was lucky to get from Nailsworth

very attentive staff! Lovely location! Still served us a late dinner as we arrived later than expected.

Wonderful old property in a beautiful place.
Access with bags along the corridors was a bit tricky: but this comes with an older building.

It was an unexpected gem. The outdoor bar was perfect in the wonderful sunshine. The staff could not have been any more helpful or attentive. The hotel itself was steeped with character and the local ponies wandered around the grounds adding some charm and rustic beauty.
I feel I would be adding something just for the sake of it and the worst I can summons up is the fact there was no porridge on the breakfast menu.
4.2
Great location, friendly and professional staff
Nothing - although Wi-Fi could have been better, but believe this is to do with the area and not necessarily the hotel itself.
4.2
Location & comfortable room
There was a wedding and it was very busy in the bar area.
4.2
Room was good enough for solo or couples.
Visit to the area was for family reasons so really only used the hotel for sleep etc.

Loved the location and the Restaurant, the location is ideal for us, for a event we attend every year,
Unfortunately we will not be able to return as singe night rooms are no longer offered.
shame really

Room very clean, nice touch to get fresh milk, complimentary water each day and even chocolates!
Breakfast was excellent
Room was quite small, not much space for all our motor bike gear and boxes.
We had dinner in the bar and did not like the fact they added service
Charge of 12.5% onto the bill. The meals were already expensivr.

Very kind lady at the reception called Nikki - my mother and I got quite ill and fluey when we arrived and we had to stay in for a day. Nikki went the extra mile offered to put together a care package with medicine, instant soup and some fruit from the supermarket before she came into work one day. Thank you soooo much Nikki!! That was so lovely of you!!
The breakfast area could be cleaner. The table doesn’t seem to get cleaned between uses, there’s always some crumb or something else on it.
Also, some fresh fruit options for breakfast would be great.

Location: staff: food
No mention of fish and chips on the menu

Staff were friendly and approachable and gave tips for parking in Stroud. The room was comfortable and quiet, despite the hotel being full. Breakfast was lovely with a lot of choice - it was good to see a lot of fruit available.
There was an annoying humming noise that we managed to tune out - not sure if it was a generator outside?

We have stayed at The Bear several times and it never fails to completely satisfy. We stayed in the Country House rooms, which are spacious, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. Excellent overall.

Exceptional view, lovely room, very comfortable bed and bedding, good shower, excellent food, very clean, friendly and helpful staff.
It was very busy, so vould have been fuller staffed.
Some public areas could have been tidier and the ladies toilets weren't well stocked and maintained to accommodate the amount of visitors
4.2
Breakfast was nice and tasty, we were in the dog friendly area but only knew that dogs could’ve had some food too when we were checking out.
The bar could’ve had some background music on, create a bit more atmosphere.
Wine was nice but in my opinion somewhat overpriced.
4.2
I love the fact that the development has the traditional building at the centre and each room is a visual delight.

Meals were very tasty. Room was very comfortable and clean, with a lovely shower. Coffee and tea was of a very high quality.
Service at the evening meal on Friday could have been better. It seemed there was a lack of staff and our vegetable side order with the main meal never arrived. This wasn't an issue, as the portions were generous.

beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings. Breakfast best I have had at a hotel in U.K. will visit again.
Nothing.

Room was a bit small.

The girls on reception were excellent , very knowledgeable
Breakfast was excellent
Room was very clean
Bathroom had dust ( that had been there a long time) behind bathroom sink
Dressing gowns had been over dried, so were badly creased , they looked cheap and tacky even though they weren’t-we did not use them
