Location: central Witney, not far from our destination. Well-preserved features of coaching inn. Original beams melded with modern conveniences. A "shout out" for assistant manager Callum. His welcome and helpfulness could not be surpassed, in fact we felt he was indeed the personality which buoyed up the whole establishment, but all staff smiled and we're nice.
Bed was comfortable. Nice thick towels.
The bathroom was rather cramped. Light bulbs in spotlights on the high beams and bed lights were missing/function Not working. Not sure glasses and bottles of water were appropriately placed on a tarnished tray in front of low window without some form of tray cover. Our room 10 happened to be above their function room. Promissed the beat of noise would get no louder. It did, and lasted longer than 11pm. The shape and size of bathroom sink posed a problem in filling the large kettle provided.
Then - we had a meal in the restaurant. All I can say is that their "Italian Chef" who supposedly prepared my Lasagna fresh, has a lot to answer for.
The meat Ragu was virtually non existent; there were 4 pasta layers in a shallow hot stone tray; the bechemel sauce was so congealed it was unrecognizable. I was served a dish of "stodge", yes, tomato flavoured stodge, but that was it. Dreadful! Gives Lasagne a bad name. Ok, Manager removed from the bill, provided another glass of wine, but the evening/meal was totally spoiled.

Dinner was very good! Staff is very nice, good selection of dishes, great ambiance. The place is cozy and lively (without being noisy) also in the afternoon.
The folding bed in the sofa bed (which we used for the kids) wasn't very comfortable, the mattress wouldn't stay flat.

Great location.
The room was a bit tatty and needs a refresh.

The room was very pleasant and had everything we needed, including a toothbrush! The restaurant was smoothly run and flexible to our needs - my mother has mobility problems and we were able to have some meals in our room- with great food.
The staff were wonderful, helping out in anyway they could to make our stay as good as possible.
Instructions for the coffee machine would have been useful.

the location, the staff, the breakfast menu
The window in my room didn’t close fully but it was ok as the room was on the 2nd floor if it had been on ground floor, I would have requested another room. Breakfast service was a bit slow however it was really tasty.

great location in Witney, check in/out process was super quick and easy and the breakfast was lovely.
my only concern would be the outdoor seating out the back, which is right next to the rooms in the annex, would could be noisey in the summer, but was perfect for our winter stay.

Accessible courtyard room.
Breakfast was cold even at 8am

The room was lovely, clean, and big, with everything we needed in the room. It was also in a separate building to the pub so it wasn’t too loud. It was located in the centre of town, so transport and everything was close by. The breakfast included in the price was awesome - buffet or anything on the menu with drinks included. The staff were so attentive and polite. Overall, it was excellent value for money and a fantastic place to stay if you’re in Witney.

Great location, friendly staff, great bar and restaurant. I love this hotel and paid for the best bedroom upgrade, but was a disappointed with the stay. Such a shame as I am a frequent visitor to the area.
I had room 10. The room was cold even though the radiator was on all night & day it wasn’t very hot and the room was cold.
There were cobwebs and spiders in the beams above the bed, blowing in the breeze.
The shower was weak
There is a constant buzzing noise in this room perhaps from an extractor fan or similar
At 6am there was an almighty bang which sounded like my door was been bashed in? I was a lone female and terrified to be woken like this. I couldn’t see anything through the spy hole in the door. But when leaving my room later I did notice that the fire exit right outside my door was flapping open in the wind.
There is no phone in the room or I would have rung down to reception for somebody to come up and check the noise at 6 am.
The breakfast was delicious the only complaint would be that the hashbrowns tasted of old burnt cooking oil and so inedible.

Lovely location! Staff were excellent, allowed us to arrive early and collect our keys & store our bags as we has a wedding that day. Food was very tasty and room was comfy would definitely recommend and return.
Our breakfast took almost an hour as the kitchen messed up our order, however staff rectified the error and were very apologetic. Once it came it was very tasty!
