I have fought and will continue fighting to have this charge removed from my account. I arrived to the hotel the day of my reservation only to be horrified by the conditions and false advertising posted by both booking.com and the hotel.
The moment that we arrived, there was a rancid smell similar to sewage due to the piles of seaweed accumulated right in front of the hotel. We spoke with the receptionist who claimed to be the general manager of the hotel and explained the situation to which she responded, “I’m sorry that we are not up to your American standards but these are the conditions that we live with everyday”, she also stated that if we wanted to cancel, we could have cancelled a day before and it would have been free cancellation. I’m sorry, but if we are traveling from the US, HOW are we supposed to know that the pictures that you are advertising are nothing like what is actually there!?
I had booked 3 rooms for 2 days and was charged a $800 cancellation fee which is beyond ridiculous.

The room had an incredible view, the beach is right in front of the hotel, the staff is unique. Thye have a really good kitchen and the included breakfast is delicious!
The A/C didnt seem to be big enough for the room´s size, eventhough we had it in the lowest temperature the room never felt cold.

The area south of the village is quiet, peaceful and generally cleaner than the centre of Mahahual - though this is changing as more small developments rise. This hotel is practically the last on a road with good driving surface. Further south it's a challenge to drive.
The Italian influenced restaurant served excellent food: huge tasty pizzas and pasta being specialities. In fact, for evening dining it's probably the best option of all in Mahahual. One night there was good live jazz too - something they do from time to time, usually at the weekend.
We found staff charming but in a country known for its generous and kind folk, some of the hotel policies very un-Mexican. One cup, only, of coffee per person for the breakfast included in hotel rate? Extra cost for a bit of milk in your coffee? As an ex hotel reviewer, this was a first for me.
If you're going for beach and swimming experiences (anywhere along the QR coast in fact) check out the weather and the incidence of the sargassum algae that swamps the beaches and renders them impracticable.
Our stay was spoiled by unseasonable high winds bringing in an immense influx of algae which then rots on the shore. We were not even able to swim beyond a net or snorkel on the reef.
The hotel immediately gave us a larger room than we'd reserved as they realised the situation what not what we'd come for and hoped it would improve our stay.
But I guess we just had bad luck with the timing of our visit and should have been more aware of this marine phenomenon.

Quiet location away from the loud beach clubs and cruise ships.
There were no hammocks although there were beach loungers.

I think I liked everything. from the hot water to the spacious room, the bed was comfortable, they had a long mirror too. bonus! and the wifi was excellent and super-fast. very impressed! The receptionist, I can't recall her name. She did a great job. I arrived really late, and she helped me over the phone to find the hotel. Like she stayed on the phone with me the entire time. that is Excllent service. thank you!
nothing. it was a very pleasant one-night stay.

My girlfriend and I stayed here only one night.
Nice hotel with a strong eco-friendly vocation.(Dirty toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet but in a trash can and all soaps are biodegradable)
Right in front of the sea, it is run by friendly staff who are always available for anything.
The rooms are large and have all the necessary comforts.
You can use the beach chairs that are from the hotel, which is located slightly outside the "center" (Mahahual is so small that it is a 2 min walk)
At breakfast you can choose from 5 plate options plus a coffee and juice.
Good stay all in all.

The AC worked well and the hotel had private parking. The private beach was nice… but ofc not swimable due to the seaweed problem… :(
The breakfast was limited for vegetarians, and as described the seaweed problem is really problematic.

service is amazing! everyone is kind and very nice. the restaurant at night is also very very good.
the smell of the sea grass (there is nothing the property can do about that - not their fault).

Excellent service! My girlfriend got special treatment on her birthday. The food was great!, the manager was very polite and ready help. The rooms were clean, and yes! The hotel has a "eco-friendly" operations. We stayed for 2 days. Breakfast included. We had an excellent time. Highly recommended.

very thoughtful boutique hotel, one could see owner really cared & the staff really cared for him..
endless seaweed all along the Yucatán , the cleaners were clumsy & broke an expensive skin product, simply throw it away without tell me till after…

I was lucky to be in the deluxe suite with a sea view. It was amazing and exceptional. I had never had such an amazing balcony with hammock. everything was very clean and nicely decorated
The beach was full of sea grass so it was impossible to swim.

Very helpful staff, good on-site restaurant and yummy breakfast! The location is excellent: a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the main strip of Mahahual, but nice and quiet. The hotel does not have a pool, but just cross the street and enjoy the private sandy beach with sun loungers.
The room was clean, but rather small and there was no real daylight coming in: one window is blocked by a big wardrobe and the other window's curtains cannot really be opened, since everybody going in or out or going to reception passes right outside this window.

location is good, just outside the centre of Mahahual. Facillities at the hotel are good as well (food, service etc)
Noisy room, very windy outside. Therefore some roof parts were making noise all nights. We asked for a more quiet room in the back of the hotel (second building). Personell told us these rooms were not free. We were doubting this because the hotel felt a bit empty. Only option was a more expensive room in the front building with still a lot of wind)
For a good beach, take the beach in Mahahual itself (not in front of the hotel) or drive 30 minutes south for nice plaes.

The room we stayed in was advertised as having a jacuzzi. This is the only reason we have chosen that room. However we were not able to use the jacuzzi in the room at all because the water was never warm enough. It takes about 40 minutes to fill up to the level just above the nozzles, but the water coming out of the faucet stays hot for no more than 5 minutes. After 5 minutes it becomes progressively colder so after 10 minutes it is barely warm and after 15 minutes it is plain cold. We were not offered a different room. Instead, we were offered 12 USD compensation at checkout. We will be seeking full refund through chargeback.
