Beautiful buildings, excellent location, amazing staff, and delicious food.

Room was very nice, with a super comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and a great balcony with hammock, sofa, and table/chairs. We had room service breakfast (included!) there every day, which was very relaxing. The hotel's facilities are nice, with lots of space on the beach with hammocks, umbrellas, chairs, etc., as well as plenty of seating closer to the hotel and pool. Having use of a WhatsApp number to order food/drinks to your location was a convenient option. We felt the location was a good balance between being a quiet area of the island and an easy walk into town (about 20 minutes slow walk down the beach). Just be aware you'll want to get a taxi from the ferry dock to the hotel - it's a long and hot walk with luggage!
The weakest point for us was definitely the hotel's food, which could have been better. On the plus side, the prices are the most reasonable of any of the hotels nearby, although the quality was not amazing at breakfast and lunch/dinner (we ate a few different things here). For a hotel at this price point we expected something that was higher quality. The service could also have been friendlier or a little more attentive, especially at check-in.
Overall, none of these points were outright bad but for the price we paid we did expect a little more. The value-for-money of our 3-night stay in March was unfortunately lacking. Even changing some small things, like the check-in experience or offering a transfer to/from the ferry dock, would make a big difference to this feeling.
Finally, like many beaches in the area there is quite a lot of seaweed. We felt the hotel did a reasonable job of managing it and cleaning the beach, although there are piles near to the beach seating and it can smell a little...

Personnel le plus efficace que nous n’ayons jamais vu dans un hôtel. L’hôtel est magnifique, devant l’une des meilleures partie de la plage. Les repas étaient copieux et délicieux. Nous recommandons!

Breakfast was huge and amazing— not the typical crappy buffet. Staff was really kind and worked really hard. We brought our baby and they brought in a crib all made up with a lovey and all.
Mosquitoes were pretty rough, but that’s the price you pay for paradise!

Staff very friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and well decorated, the bed was comfortable, the restaurant food was good and at a proper price, room service was fast and tasty, you can have it in your room or on you balcony, steps from the beach and relaxing without much noise from the other hotels

Beautiful location directly at the beach, which is one of the best beaches on the island. No seagrass or alges or whatsoever, just white sand and clear water. You can walk out for 300-400 meters and the water just reaches your hips and is pleasing warm. The lunch bar offers a nice selection of good quality food and drinks at reasonable prices. Our room was huge and very bright and the AC worked flawlessly. Very cosy and comfortable.
The only thing I did not like too much was that the bathroom had no AC and was boiling hot.

Palapas del Sol offered a wonderful stay for a romantic getaway. Our room (#18) was large and well equipped with excellent wifi. The staff was always helpful and kind. The food was surprisingly good! We ate most meals at the hotel. In addition to the hotel itself, Palapas del Sol has a really good spot on the beach with the best palapas and chairs. We could not have asked for a better location. Finally, we spent several afternoons just hanging out at the hotel bar watching the waves and enjoying rain. Overall a great stay!
We struggled with the AC in the room. It never quite regulated to the temperature we wanted.

This place is amazing! It has very clean pool, very helpful staff, good restaurant, clean rooms, location is amazing with direct access to the best beach. Great place for families to spend time together in the water, on the terrace or just outside on the hotels premises.

the location, just in front of the most perfect beach imaginable. believe me, no need to go looking for any other beach around in the island.
the service was also exceptional. food was also really good.
there were no blackout drapes, so there was plenty of light very early in the morning. Me and my wife prefer the room to be darker in order to get more sleep in the morning.
the bathroom was not a separate room from the rest of the suite, so there was little privacy when taking a shower. For a couple’s vacation its no problem, but we were traveling as a family with an aunt sharing the room.
but none of these were dealbreakers. overall we managed, and the room was spectacular.

Staff was amazing and considerate with our babies diet restrictions. Beach was clean and beautiful!
Also included a playpen for our baby to sleep in! One less thing to carry. I suggest taking your own fitted sheet though because they provided us loose blanket pillow and sheet. I guess for a toddler it’s fine but if you have a baby it’s something to consider.
Apparently the owners family members showed up to the property and they were quite rude to the staff and very demanding. Thankfully it was our last day so we didn’t have to deal with those guests much but they definitely acted like they owned the place. Taking over the pool, going behind the bar and grabbing bottles and the children screaming and barking orders. I just felt bad for the staff since they were so attentive, humble and kind.

Quiet and secluded. Lovely manicured property that they are constantly cleaning and caring for.
This hotel is not for those who want/need a big pool to lounge by.

We loved our stay at Palapas del Sol. It really couldn’t been better! Beautiful and original grounds and hotel that was not catering to “party people”. In my opinion, this is the best location in the island. The staff is excellent all the way through check-in to check-out! We especially appreciated Casper: he was so friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable (a big thank-you to Casper for making our stay even more meaningful and fun!). We would make the trip to come back to Holbox just to stay at Palapas del Sol.
Everything was great.

We were on Holbox for 3 nights during the rainy season. The Palapas del Sol was a perfect place to stay for some quiet days on the beach. The good and fairly priced room service gave us great hours on the beach and on the balcony with sea view.
The somewhat secluded location was exactly what we wanted. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes. We recommend renting bicycles to explore the island.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. High praise and many thanks!

Great intimate hotel. The staff was wonderful and drinks and food were great! We spent most of the time on the beach in the palapas, and it was so relaxing! Would definitely recommend!
We forgot insect spray… and there are A LOT of mosquitos at night. That’s all over the island so definitely take longer sleeves for the evening and big spray!!

best beach at the whole island!
the AC at the gym didn't work
