Laid back and down to earth based in the local community. Beautiful location. Great tower - watching turtles swim by at night.
Very basic facilities that would be improved with a little more care and attention. Don’t expect a luxury resort.

Marvelous view, overlooking the Celebes Sea. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were good.
There was no AC

Hard to think of something.
DON'T go here, I promise you'll regret it, I'll give a in depth summary of the reasons why:
- the place is simply made to make a maximum amount of profit from tourists without providing any value for the guests other than "yeah it's a 'local feel'". Lacks any type of soul that a homestay would provide or any type of proper facilities that a hotel/guesthouse would provide.
- the facilities are falling apart: leaky roofs in the dinner and hallway area when it rains, bathroom: dirty, not even a proper showerhead could be spared, you're basically having a shower underneath a tap. Toilets not functioning properly.
- Room: extremely basic, like a plywood box. Cheapest finishings possible
- Owner: fake friendliness veil that gets discarded as soon as there is an issue, rather lazy than hosting a guest in a proper, professional manner
- Price advertised is not the actual price they will charge you. Apparently in the fine print they come up with a bunch of fees and percentages at the end. If you simply and respectfully ask to clarify the difference, you're simply told to leave the place or pay up. Hospitality 10/10..?
- Completely overpriced for what you get. Pay a tiny bit more and you can actually stay in a nice place around the island.
- Breakfast is very basic and served too late if you have a dive in the morning planned
- Dinner (pay extra) is very basic and plain, hardly edible, we got some rice with soy sauce and cabbage salad..
- Owners make a lot of noise in the dinner area if you decide to go to bed early to dive in the morning
- Big generator right in front of the window, the whole night, bye bye tranquil island experience..
I can say more but in short review - its a DUMP, don't stay here , you've been warned

This place has a perfect view of the sunset, great food and very friendly and welcoming people. Had a bbq one night which was delicious. It is peaceful and back to basics but clean and tidy. The hosts Azo and Dean were brilliant and made me feel unbelievably welcome and couldn't be more helpful. Wish I had dived with them and hadn't precooked it with another company.
Nothing it was as the write up. I moved to another accommodation as was pre booked but wished I had stayed as the vibe was perfect.

Very homey place to stay and do some great diving while in Mabul. The owner is very friendly and nice to chat with. He's also very passionate about marine life, so a great person to guide your underwater exploration. The sunset views are epic, food is good, staff are friendly and diving affordable. We also really liked our authentic 'neighborhood' on stilts and all the turtles we spotted from the deck :) Would come back here when returning to Mabul!
This isn't specific to Spheredivers, but Mabul has a trash problem. It's quite sad to see the garbage floating when the tides go in and out.

Host was most friendly, really made me feel welcome. Food is home cooked and very delicious and fresh. Rooms are very simple and a bit worn off by the salt and sun but I expected this due to the history and location of the island. Bed was comfi however, and they have a large area to sit and relax. Sunset views and visiting sea turtles were magnificent! Diving was wonderful too, with good equipment and boat.
Was a bit shocked by the island itself. There are many people living here, mostly former sea gypsies and it is clear that they have yet to find out how garbage management works. Lots of single use plastics are everywhere.

My partner and I had a great stay. The staff was very helpful, friendly and fun, and were very accommodating to all our needs. The diving was great with very professional dive crew. They were doing dive master training when we were there, so we got to go diving with a lot of the trainees. It was great fun, and the diving was world class. At night we would stay up on the deck watching turtles and other creatures swim by in the water below us. The sunsets were amazing. It was magical:) I give my highest recommendation to this fantastic place with its fantastic staff:)
There is nothing that I didnt like:)

presentation on booking.com is highly misleading, as this place is very basic. issues such as toilet not working and hole in wall. didn’t have windows- had solid timber shutters and no glass in windows, right next to dining area. so if you want privacy, the room was like a prison cell. we tried to cancel booking- manager was within his rights to stick to the 50% cancellation fee, but what was totally unacceptable was his incredible rudeness, threatening to call police and saying if we had issues with the room we should have jumped straight back onto the boat and gone back to Semporna . as a woman travelling with my 12 year old son it was a highly traumatic experience ( and he also tried to charge 300myr for our one way boat so hate to think what he would have charged to go back on his boat,). we ended up staying elsewhere - found great accommodation that was cheaper. there is a reason this place doesn’t have free cancellations

Nice view on the sea. Daily diving excursions.
The room is very basic, no private bathroom (non for all rooms) and the common one had some technical problem during the stay, but they kept it working in some way..

The rooms are basic but clean. No AC, fans only, but it's not a problem. The food is really nice, you will not go hungry. If you buy seafood from the wandering merchants they will cook it for you and it's honestly delicious.
There is not enough information. No effort to tell you what is around and what is available. You have to ask for every bit of information proactively, otherwise they will not tell you. It's bizarre, there's no sense of wanting to help the guests. To this day I cannot understand why there is only one Sipadan dive day available per guest, etc.
The diving is good but they are not the most professional. Make sure you test the equipment out yourself, a lot of it was faulty (BCD suddenly inflated underwater). Briefings were basic at best. Would not recommend to beginner divers.

The staff, especially diving staff and students, were all helpful and friendly.
The owners did not greet me so I did not have a chance to ask them about a boat transfer off the island or other questions I had. You can only pay for the accommodation and diving services in cash or international bank transfer, which was not made clear on the booking.com profile or information provided before arriving on the island so I did not have enough cash.
A FYI, the facilities are very basic and there is no air conditioning. The toilet waste is poured into the ocean below, and there were no signs to remind foreigners not to flush paper so I saw others flushing it down. The board walk to the island is precarious.

The meals were great and the lady there is an excellent cook. She prepares the dishes well and tasty with zero fuss
The sunset view and turtle watching was amazing and breathtaking.
The cats in the place were spoilt for choice, friendly, always seeking attention, clean, lovely and beautiful pets. Can carry them and pet them. Please bring treats when you book this place for the cats
THE HOST-CARE TAKER (ADNAN). He should be replaced
1. Did not inform that each dish prepared were charged at MYR25.00. I shared my meals with the inhouse hosts too
2. Poor arrangements for drop by. Abruptly dropped us off the the village jetty and not main jetty,
3. CCTV does not work
4. Snorkeling activities were horrible as the drop of sites has few fishes and nothing much to see
5. Excepts that payments are to be made in cash and the he does not accept credit card or debit card.

Simple place and decent place for diving experiences around the area. Food provided. All enquiries was answered timely. We are lucky to see a whales shark during our dive.
A pail can help for better shower experience incases you don't like the shower low water pressure as understood water is precious in the island.
