Lovely beachfront location at quiet end of Palomino, delicious varied breakfast options, spacious room
All was great aside from hot water in shower lukewarm (not major issue being in such hot climate).

Makao is the dream hotel. It is vibrant, lovely and very special. Food is delicious, service is really good (thanks Anderson and Jesus for being the BEST) and the beach is great.
Nothing! Everything was just perfect

Lovely stay, the food was great and the staff was excellent. Also the location is one of the best in Palomino
The toilet in our room didn’t flush properly, which was slightly annoying. Apart from this, everything else was great

We will remember Makao for its always helpful and serviable staff and management.
No fridge in the rooms.

Hotel staff were very helpfull and friendly.
Nice breakfast.
WIFI and electricity was cut at times. This however was a problem for the whole village.
Water was cut and when it worked again, the faucets gave brown water till the next day.
Food is below average and pricy. Ordered nachos with sauses for evening snack. The nachos came out of a plastic bag, the guacamole was something I luckily never tasted before, and will never try there again.

Beautiful hotel right by the beach in Palomino. I stayed in the sweet which was super nice, clean, and comfortable. The staff were really great and helpful with everything I needed. The food and drinks were also great - I didn't leave the place while I was there.
I liked everything!

The staff were excellent and went the xtra mile. The location was very good as the hotel is right on the beach and easy to walk to restaurants and bars etc. the breakfast was very good and so was the food in general. The room and food/drink prices were reasonable
The next door hotel’s music was annoying but it did stop at 10pm. Some shady areas would have been welcomed

Super friendly staff! They made it feel like home. Even if the hotel is booked out it doesn’t feel busy. The rooms are very bright and spacious. It is not too busy or loud at the beach since there are no neighbours on one side.

The property was super comfortable and relaxing for us. Great location and easy walking distance to explore the many shops, restaurants and bars. Also super clean with an incredible staff that was very accommodating. I cannot say enough good things about the staff.

The Makao Team welcomed us with a great hospitality! The hotel has a nice private beach and is located perfectly for going out in Palomino.
We stayed one week in Makao & enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the comfy & always clean room, yummi cocktails as well as the great kitchen! Carol, Chiara & the rest of the kitchen staff cook incredibly tasty & fresh meals! Besides that the whole Makao Staff treated us like family right from the beginning - it is a true treasure that you experience such a warm, friendly, generous & lovely service! entonse MUCHAS GRACIAS Jaime, Margherita, Luis, Jesus, Estella, Rosio, Ander y todo el equipo Makao! You made our holiday in Palomino unforgettable!

The place is very lovely and clean. Most of the staff is friendly, sweet and genuinely wanting to help. It’s super comfy to be right on the beach, with a nice restaurant menu etc. Loved the watermelon juice as a welcome and the ceviche is wow. Wi-Fi is steady.
I understand it is the Caribbean and it’s a remote beach, but I would have loved to know there was a problem with the hot water from the beginning. Every time I went to take a hot shower (much needed after a beach day, windy day) there was little to no hot water. One member of their staff didn’t seem to care much and told me it shouldn’t be expected as an amenity (I was given the example of a swimming pool). Others tried to help and call maintenance but the problem didn’t really get fixed.
The rooms at the ground floor (air conditioning) and especially the one next to the kitchen is pretty noisy with all the reception interactions, staff talk, music playing… not superior at all and I wouldn’t book that again. The rooms with balcony above are nice but bring mosquito spray!

Everything about this place was just simply amazing, the bed was comfy the room was clean and the guys at the reception were extremely helpful, especially Luis! from beginning to end he was attentive, and help us with instructions and food recommendations. We hope to see him next time for sure, to Luis and the Makao team thank you. btw best patacones ever :p

The Breakfast
the ground rooms are terrible rooms, no view, constant noise from the kitchens, no luxuries amenities for a hotel of this price, no room safe back doors did not lock correctly also

The bedroom was incredible with a balcony looking to the sea, you can hear the waves at night and it’s amazing! The breakfast was made for me for free after I checked out which was lovely as well.
No hot water

the people were super friendly. tou are directly at the beach so not much people around but at the same time it is at walking distance from the bara, restaurants, etc

The view and the rooms on the top floor. So if you book, go for the deluxe rooms
Great staff!

it’s a good beach-side hotel if you want to disconnect yourself from other noisy hotels in the neighborhood. it’s more suitable for a private romantic plan. the breakfast was excellent.
the guest room is a little disappointing value-quality-wise and at night it appears too many insects at night. Also no option for hot water in the shower. overall food at the hotel is over priced and small portion.

Nice, airy and carribean style rooms, all with a side sea view.
Unfortunately no hot water. During our 7 night stay the room has only been cleaned 3 times, which wouldn't be a problem, but the toilet bin def needs to be emptied daily. Be aware that there is no beach whatsoever. Compared to other places in palomino i found it too expensive

the beach front
the openness of it all, really humid
8.0 / 10.0
This nice place has just a few rooms, which makes it a nice intimate place right on the water. The room had everything I could possibly want — a balcony with sea view, a large bathroom, bug bed and a desk for getting a little work done. The common areas included a day bed and other lounging areas that were nice.
There was no outlet close to the desk.... my computer cord wouldn't reach to the closest one.
