The room was spacious and the bed comfortable and the room was reasonably clean
The 2 reception staff that we met were cold. Unfriendly and bordering on rude. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. We had a meal on our first night which was poor. We had slow roasted ham which was tough . The egg and chips were good but there was no warm pease pudding .
When I asked about the pease pudding I was told that it was mixed into the ( very thin and runny ) mustard sauce. This didn’t make sense to me but we were offered pease pudding instead of the unpleasant mustard sauce.. The replacement pease pudding was icy cold . All together quite an unpleasant meal.

Large room with a comfy 'super king' size luxury Hypnos bed (although the mattress was perhaps a little too firm for us).
The shower was fine, although we would have liked a bath as well - the room was plenty large enough to have incorporated this at the design stage.
Staff were efficient and friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced apart from some soft drinks, and food prices were about what you would expect to pay in a pub. However, certain items were unusual, for example the pheasant kiev.
Overall, a good hotel.
At breakfast, it was necessary to ask on 2 mornings for more bowls of fruit to be put out - perhaps someone should have been keeping a closer eye out for this. The fresh orange juice machine produced a good glass of juice, but it seemed that the used orange skins needed to be emptied from the machine more frequently to prevent jamming - this was a bit of a fiddly job. I suspect that just providing fresh juice from a carton or jug would be less problematic for customers and certainly for the staff. However, breakfast was plentiful and what you would expect on a 'help yourself' buffet.

Easy access and good parking. Nice to have a restaurant for evening meal. But second evening meal was not good. Breakfast was good. Staff very good. Room large.
Location in a rather commercial district. Second evening meal very disappointing. Room expensive. Bathroom very small and out of proportion to large room.

Meals and room were excellent
Asked for twin beds but got a double with no explanation and a room facing away from the busy A1 but didn’t get that either. However we are were happy to put up with that as the room was very good and we were tired!

It was clean and the rooms generous in size and comfortable
There was a good choice of reasonably priced evening meals available
On night one our room was close to the A1 and noisy

Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, staff friendly
Booked an accessible room so was disappointed that although the room had a raised toilet and low sink, the room had a high bath. I would expect an accessible room to have a walk-in shower. Parking was also disappointing, there was disabled bays however there was parking closer to the entrance that weren’t disabled parking, it would have made more sense for these to be disabled.
Food was also overpriced, £12 for a beef sandwich with a few chips.

The breakfast was lovely very fresh and the chef cooked veggie sausages for my mum on request
We were visiting Cragside and it was definitely worth a visit at Christmas time
The water was Luke warm in my bath I was looking forward to a hot bubble bath but that didn’t happen understand the need for temperature control but I am an adult and didn’t have a nice soak in a bath I was looking forward too - Luke warm if that

the hotel was really nice, very friendly staff when we arrived, it was a treat for my graduation from my partner. when we arrived the hotel looked nice from the outside and good on the inside aswell. we have previously stayed at a sister hotel of this chain, so we knew what we were getting.
i felt the price for one night at £180 was a little steep, but was a lovely suprise night away

Everything was very good including the evening meal, Breakfast and the room.
I would of given excellent and 10s all the way, I stopped short of that only due to the fact, the location. To get anywhere you would need to get a taxi to and from the hotel.
