The Manor is a beautiful 200 year old home which Sheri is taking care to refurbish. The garden has an incredible view of Torbay and if the weather had been kinder to us we would have enjoyed it more. However, both sitting rooms have the same beautiful view so the rain did not bother us. We love old homes and the high ceilings, ornate cornicing and wall frescos in the Manor are absolutely wonderful, and it was a joy to take in these rooms. The house was warm and Sheri was very generous to leave the heating on 24/7. However, due to an airlock causing banging in underfloor pipes in the bedroom with the ensuite on our first night, Sheri advised we turn off the combi boiler at night, which resolved the problem for the rest of our stay. The Manor is well kitted out with everything you might need and a generous amount of essentials were left for us including toilet rolls, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, and plenty of clean towels. All our beds were comfortable. The attic room with its 3 single beds was loved by our 3 children, who will remember it for a long time to come. This has its own toilet and sink a few steps down from the room.
Works are ongoing at the property and while we were there scaffolding was in place outside one of the bedrooms facing the sea. There were a couple of boarded up windows (one in a bedroom on the 1st floor and another in the children's attic room as a result). An ornate metal spiral staircase isn't highlighted in the house description and it would be helpful to add this, as it is the only staircase to reach the first floor. There are also steep stone spiral steps going down to the kitchen, and steep, shallow steps going up to the attic room on the 2nd floor. These aren't really suitable for frail elderly and very young children. Our age ranges were 7 to 85. Our 7 years olds were fine with the stairs, but our 80+ relatives had to be accompanied up and down stairs at all times for their safety. Particularly stressful for our octogenarians was the need to go down to the basement to reach the nearest toilet from the living level. We rolled up the rugs on the 1st floor after slipping on them, despite them looking lovely - we didn't want any accidents. The building is what it is - a beautiful old house, and we enjoyed our stay, despite the few obstacles.

Distinct and historic features of the property; very spacious; fully functioning internet; cool (as in temperature) kitchen.
Spiral staircase slightly daunting, as was steep walk up the drive.

The house was very large and accommodated 7 adults without any problem. There was also plenty of space in the lounge areas and the kitchen. The views from the front were very good and as described. There were also 3 bathrooms which was ideal for all the guests over the weekend.
There was nothing we didn't like about the manor but would maybe suggest a couple of things. Some cushions for the outside furniture would be nice and some instructions for the aga (cooker) would be useful, as the symbols have worn off. It was a little trial and error until we got the hang of it.

We knew the property was a walk into Torquay, we used taxis and walked a few times. Sheri met us to give us the keys.We were able to contact her easily about two small enquires. We knew the stairs were spiral and the property is on 3 floors so as we are all fit it was fine, added to the experience. The garden is lovely with amazing sea views, cushions for the outdoor seating would be great , we discussed with our host.😀

the view
this is not a place that should be advertised for young families and older people!
it's beautiful on the outside but once you go inside you wonder why this place ever made the grades?
there are three levels and no toilets on the entertainment, so you either go into the basement or upstairs and believe me when you are over 70 it's no joke!
please tell us!!
and what is with the doll on the children's level!
Chucky! is the only word that springs to mind!! one eye, broken neck, scary hair, broken porcelain feet
my grandchildren would have been scarred for life!!
very strange setup indeed.......
