A good experience overall.

The staff at the reception was able to converse in Mandarin and Cantonese, which was very helpful for a new traveler. The room that I was placed in (Room 509) had a small balcony that allowed for the airing of the room and clothes to be dried.

The overall cleanliness of the room was okay, however, there were cobwebs on the walls, which showed that the rooms were not thoroughly cleaned. The amenities provided in the bathroom were also topped up sporadically only.

For your first visit to Ho Chi Minh city , I recommend you stay at Nam Hy 1 hotel

the location is excellent . staffs are friendly , beside Vietnamese and English front desk can speak Cantonese . may be Mandarin too hotel is surrounded by all kind of street food, restaurants, bakeries, cake shop, coffee shops, pharmacies.... people are doing business from 6 am to 11 pm day time and evening , activities in the streets are totally different there are An Dong shopping centre and Hoa Binh wet market not far away. the areas are quite big. should go there for a visit.

No laundry service . but there is a laundromat just 5 min walk from the hotel

Overall is still not bad to stay there.

I like the location ( many food stall and near the market)

The room have mosquito. The floor in the room also quite dusty. The television reception is not clear.

Superb

Nam Hy hotel has an exceptional excellent services and friendly also helpful team of staffs at reception. All staffs able to communicate fluently not only Vietnamese but also Chinese and English. We enjoyed staying here due to central location and friendly staffs made us feel like home.

Just for advice if hotel can improve water pressure and a out door coffee lounge. This would be great

Great hotel, bad location

I cannot fault the hotel itself. Bearing in mind it's a 2star hotel the service was amazing. There a staff on the door at all hours and they help you get in and out of taxis, take your bags etc and are very friendly. The only thing keeping me from giving them top marks was because the night staff didn't speak English at all so when I needed a taxi for example it was a bit of a challenge. But the lady during the day spoke perfect English. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are huge. Easily the biggest room I've had in Vietnam. The bed was very comfy and the shower was massive. Turn down was great. I like that you can check in and out at any time as they are 24hr and that there is a restaurant on site. I didn't try the breakfast but I had a coffee and that was great.

The main issue, and I suppose this mainly applies to female solo travellers like me, is the location. If the hotel was elsewhere I would have been very happy. I suppose that's my fault for not fully understanding the districts, but I felt that district 5 wasn't very safe. It took me a good 40 minutes to an hour to walk to district 1 (and I walk fast) and for the majority of that walk I had to avoid being grabbed, catcalled, curb crawled, stroked, touched, gawked at, crowded etc. I could barely walk a meter without unwanted attention. I felt like the only foreigner in the whole district (and was the only one I saw). Even in the hotel lobby other guests felt it was ok to just stare at me for long periods of time. Therefore, I wouldn't stay again, and I would maybe warn other female solo or families from staying in the area unless they want to take taxis only which isn't as convenient. There are also no real cafes or restaurants in walking distance, and I was given strange looks when I walked into local places.

Really can't fault this little gem

The Hotel was clean and the entire Team from Reception onwards, made you feel like a Guest. The hotel is in a great location, especially if you ae looking for some bargain shopping. Really can't fault this little gem.

Good Hotel

Room 105 is smoking room . I can't stand the smell then move to 104 . All look super good and will continue to stay this hotel room 104 in the future .
