About this house rental
Formerly rented by the U.S. Secret Service for several seasons, we are now doing weekly & monthly rentals. Our waterfront home is surrounded by water and has ocean, island and lighthouse views on a quiet tidal cove -every six hours the tide goes out. Located on 4 acres in Cape Porpoise, a small fishing village in Kennebunkport. Our property is on the end of a private road so there is plenty of privacy. The house looks directly towards the water so at high tide you can take in the water views and feel like you are away from it all. We have our own pier and float on the property which you may use to tie up a boat -you can bring or rent a kayak, canoe or boat & explore the seven Cape Porpoise islands. A great place for kids to swim, or fish for crabs off the end of the pier. The pier is is shared with the cottage which we also own on the property- which can be rented with the house if needed. The house and cottage area also rented separately (also through Homeaway/VRBO) They are completely separate from each other, so you have privacy with more than 200 feet separating the two. The house has a fully equipped galley kitchen, dining room, family room and living room with water views. Sleeps 6. Three bedrooms: master w/ fireplace & water view. 2 full baths- one on each floor. Back porch & deck, front porch/ deck overlooks water. Sorry, No Pets.
Less than a mile to Cape Porpoise village, you will find restaurants, a grocery store, library and art gallery. It is a scenic walk to the local pier where you can fish or watch the lobstermen bring in their catch. A three mile drive to Goose Rocks Beach, Kennebunk beaches and Kennebunkport center.

This lovely home on the water was perfect for our family. It was roomy, comfortable, and within walking distance to great restaurants and the local grocery store. Highly recommend. We so enjoyed our stay!

We had a wonderful time staying at the house.
We were able to visit so many great towns in Maine and experience a lot of what Maine has to offer.
When we were not out, exploring, we were back at the house which was off the beaten path for quiet and privacy. The house had everything we needed.
The house is located on the harbor, and it was interesting to watch the tides go in and out
We could walk into town, which was a plus.
Our host were very friendly and responsive.

In town for a family wedding, this worked perfectly for us, adult grown children and elderly father. Very spacious downstairs, and bedrooms worked for our group. Would definitely rent again if back in the area.

We absolutely loved staying in this home. It was very clean and ready for us upon arrival. The home has a wonderful view from the front windows on a quiet, dead-end street. It was perfectly located in Cape Porpoise a few miles from Kennebunkport, lobster shacks and the best beaches. We hope to be back soon!

My family of 6 stayed here for 4 days in the middle of June 2023. What a gem of a home on the water in Maine!
Exactly as described.
Lots of space both inside & outside the home.
Very clean & neat.
Supposedly the original house was built in 1843, and added onto since.
Quiet location.
Peaceful watching the tide go in & go out.
Enjoyable viewing the various seabirds hunting & swimming in the inlet.
Lots of wildlife & birds in the woods behind the house.
It was chilly but beautiful, only raining on the day we arrived & the day we left.
We got fresh seafood & lobster (OF COURSE) at Langsford Road Lobster & Seafood House on the street just across the inlet. Super yummy.
We ran for exercise along the local roads, taking in all of the beauty around us.
We enjoyed talking with neighbor Dan, who’s lived there 60 years & has good stories to tell.
The hosts were super responsive and pleasant with which to work.
Note that there will be folded clean sheets on top of all the beds when you arrive as you are expected to make the beds upon arrival (so that you know the sheets are clean).
A 5-star VRBO for sure!
Thank you for the great memories! :)

This house is in a wonderful setting with captivating views. It is very peaceful. we enjoyed just sitting in the living room or in the enclosed front or back porch. It is only minutes from downtown Kennebunkport and some nice restaurants are close by as well. The place is clean and comfortable. The stairs to the second-floor bedrooms are a little steep so take your time using them. The owners checked in with us to make sure all was well.

Such a beautiful spot! There are so many inviting areas inside and out to while away the hours that we needed a longer stay to take advantage of them all. This older home was comfortable and well appointed - it should be noted though for us older folks that all the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. The grounds and view exceeded our expectations which were pretty high already based on the photos provided. Watching the birds, tidal changes, and the night stars quickly became our favorite pastimes. It was a perfect jumping off point for day trips north and south but I would not have minded if we just stayed put on one of the porches. We all felt the same! To top it off, Joan was so helpful with our questions and made the perfect host. We are already talking about when we can return!
Thank you Joan and Phil

We loved our week long stay. The house was even better than described and we had a lot of room for our family of 5. We made good use of the waterfront location with canoeing to the nearby islands and crabbing off the dock. The view is beautiful. The Cape Porpoise area is a long-time favorite of ours with the local restaurants and quick access to Goose Rocks Beach. Joan was a fantastic host and made sure the planning for the trip and our week stay was flawless.

We enjoyed our week long stay. The property is lovely with beautiful views. We loved that the location is quiet, but it is still very close to everywhere you want to go. The center of Kennebunkport is just minutes away and there is plenty even closer than that in the Cape Porpoise area.
We had 4 adults and 2 young children at the property. We liked the two separate living areas in the house, so the kids could do their kid things in one and if an adult wanted some quiet time they could go to the other. The kids' bedroom did open right near the top of the stairs, which were a little steep for our youngest, but we just kept a close eye and had no issues there.
We ate out at many of the local spots and also found it easy and convenient to prepare several meals in the house as well. The owners are very kind and available to the renters for any needs that should arise.

This house was amazing! The location was great for traveling up and down the coast, the kitchen was amazing stocked for cooking dinner (which we did most nights), the views, amazing! It was great having the dock and bay access. Cape Porpoise was an amazing little village and don’t pass up Nunan’s and Mussettes!! The owners were actually staying in the cottage while we were there and so helpful with questions etc. this is a must stay!

Very Peaceful Water View
Location was great. Halfway between Kennebunkport and Goose Rocks Beach. Definitely rent kayaks for your entire stay. Water level is high enough to kayak approx. 2/3rds of the time.

Paddy Creek and inlet
A beautiful quiet location in a well maintained older home. The home has lots of useable space so it can handle 5-6 adults easily. There are beautiful views from most of the rooms though there is a rental cottage which obstructs part of the view, the large waterfront parcel with , dock, chairs and hammock is really a wonderful spot for a family holiday.

Fabulous getaway
This house is immaculate, has planty of space, and everything we needed. The views were spectacular. The location is quiet with lots of outside space and so much to do close by. It was perfect for us even though it was much bigger than we needed. We hope to go back.

Another great stay at Paddy Creek
This was our second visit to the house, after renting it at the end of August in 2020, when Maine opened up for visitors from CT. We loved this house and property even more on this visit. Our memory of it was met and even exceeded when we returned for our second year. The property owners take great care of everything and this year we were surprised with new furniture that made the living room much more inviting. The access to the water is the main feature of the house, as it is surrounded by it. This year we purchased kayaks for Christmas, along with a rack and brought them up with us. They were used everyday other than the day it rained. Last year we rented from the company recommended by the owners, which was extremely easy, so that is also a great option.
We spent a lot of time on the front screened porch that provides a relaxing space to read a book and look out on the surrounding water. And the family room was our usual evening hangout for TV. A great place to rent and we hope to go back next year. It is now ranked as our favorite of the 4 houses we have rented in Cape Porpoise. We have been visiting southern Maine for 30 years, starting in Ogunquit, then Moody Beach, Kennebunkport and now Cape Porpoise. We just love it there.

Amazing property and VRBO gem
We couldn't have asked for a better property and location within Cape Porpoise. Very private and a great location on Cape Porpoise Harbor (Paddy Creek). Sea kayaking was incredible. We can't wait to return next year!!!

Historic home on the pier
We had a wonderful week. The home was very clean, and nicely maintained, in a way that maintains its historic charm, but provides the comforts of modern day life. Much of the furniture seemed brand new. The views were beautiful, especially the sunrise from the master bedroom. Joan and Phil are so welcoming, friendly and genuine. Great location with easy driving access to town and beach.

Right on the bay!
Sparkling clean! Huge house with lots of separate living spaces - 2 LRG living rooms each with a TV AND 2 enclosed porches- one overlooking the bay and the other off the back of the house nestled in the trees… Big kitchen well equipped. AC in every bedroom and downstairs rooms. This house is at the end of a private lane.. no traffic no noise.. .. with a stunning view of the bay. Access to the dock steps away! We enjoyed going to local restaurants & local clam shack & hiking nearby trails. Kennebunkport is just a few miles away too. There are boat rides, whale watches, kayaking, beaches, fishing charters etc in this area. This house is great!

Wonderful home and location
Owners were extremely helpful and easy to work with. It was obvious they rent often and they know what renters want and need. Their house was perfect for our family - 4 adults and 2 kids. We loved getting to kayak and swim right off the dock. Would love to return.

Perfect 4 days
My friends and I had a much needed restful stay in this perfectly situated house; we felt like we were tucked away from the world (although we were pretty close to everything) in this peaceful place. The only thing that affected our stay was the heat wave! Despite that we had the best time. Bedrooms were cool and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we could have a need for. All in all it was a great place to have a mini reunion with friends after a tough year

Perfect Vacation Spot in Kennebunkport
We just spent a week in Cape Porpoise, our favorite spot in Kennebunkport, spending it at this vacation home. It was exactly what we were looking for - my husband and I and our adult kids, girlfriend. We wanted a retreat where we could hang out and and this place delivered. It is like a private island, with a nice piece of land looking out on the cove and lighthouse, where we had drinks and sat listening to the far off waves.
We rented a tandem kayak for the week and took turns using it. right from the property, which was really so convenient.
The house was spotless when we arrived, had everything we needed to do whatever cooking we felt like doing, along with paper goods, soap, sanitizer, etc. The owners make sure that everything is stocked and the house has sheets and towels.
We spent most of our time in the family room by the front deck as we found in very comfy and bright. Even though the tv was bigger in the living room, this was where we hung out, as it connected to the dining room and had a nice window out to the water.
We spent lots of time reading on the front porch and deck, and had a happy hour or 2 on the back porch and deck. Mostly sat out front as there were lots of spots for everyone to spread out and read. It gets a lot of sun out front, which was nice and bright.
The house is down a private road, at the end, with the cottage across from the house on the water. We were there when a couple had rented the cottage, and we had no issues with crossing paths or vying for the same space.
The back of the house is on an interesting piece of land that is like a marsh-garden, which was also very scenic.
We are hoping we can afford and coordinate a return next summer as we all agreed it was a great vacation.
We stocked up on food, but visited our favorite places to eat, including Mabels by the Colony, and found some new places that we will get take out from again (Pedros, which was a rec from Joan, the owner which we all loved).
We could easily spend 2 weeks here, but the week was a good oasis to forget about COVID and enjoy a change of scene.
Don't hesitate to book. This was our 4th house in Cape Porpoise, and I think we would all agree our favorite.

Wonderful, Relaxing Family Vacation & Best Hosts!
Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at the Ludwig’s 3 bedroom home. We had everything that we needed for a week stay and Enjoyed the property and everything it had to offer. The location and the view was the BEST part of our stay. Plenty of chairs to overlook the water and the hammock was a hit for the kids. Another family stayed in the cottage and we shared the dock. They had children too and it was a perfect match for all of us. Kayaks were delivered and we brought our inflatable kayak and everyday we enjoyed a visit to all of the cape Porpoise islands. It was truly amazing. We had an opportunity to meet the owners who were lovely and accommodating for all of our needs.
The home would be OUTSTANDING if the kitchen faced the water with an open floor plan, also a few minor updates to furniture and decor, we would never leave! But most importantly, it was clean, comfortable and we had all of the amenities we needed. We truly loved our stay and the view every morning was irreplaceable!

Perfect family vacation on the coast.
This is a beautiful quintessential Maine coastal home with direct water access. We rented kayaks and paddle boards for the week and went out every day to the small islands in Cape Porpoise. There is another cottage on the property and a shared dock but there is good separation between the houses. Owners were very helpful and nearby if needed.
