Historic downtown Fernandina Beach is 2 miles west--a quick drive or a healthy bike ride to many high quality restaurants, art galleries, shopping, fishing, and historical tours. The variety of restaurants ranges from casual burgers to fancy Spanish/Italian/Maeican and everything in between. Several supermarkets, Walmart, Alvin's Island and all the other shops like Walgreens etc. are on island and with in a 5 minute drive. Groups looking for a location to have a loud rambunctious time will not do well here as the neighbors will call us to complain and they will call the police. This is a family friendly mellow location great for healthy, peaceful and fun family getaways. We are located 0.7 miles from the outdoor salt water pool at the Atlantic Ave Recreation Center.

We use ERA Realty to manage our property. The front door opens with a code that ERA will send to you at check in time on the day of check in. To make a reservation, you need to contact me first to request booking dates. Once I either accept your reservation request or I forward you a quote and invitation to book which you accept and that complets the reservation and VRBO forwards me your contact information which I will forward along with the fees to ERA Realty. ERA will them forward you the rental agreement and other check-in information. You will then return the rental agreement to ERA within 10 days. I think for the most part they forward you the rental agreement by email.
When you send me a reservation request or just an inquiry, I will forward you a response that includes a quote of the rental amount including all fees and taxes. The various fees included are the non-refundable ERA $50.00 booking fee and the non-refundable ERA $50.00 damage waiver fee that covers up to $1500.00 in property damage. Please note that the $50 ERA Booking fee is non refundable if you cancel at any time.
As well, VRBO will charge you a service fee based on the rental amount and will debit that amount from your credit card. The rental fee and all other fees are now required by VRBO to be paid through their site. VRBO also applies a fee to the payments you make through VRBO which fee is paid by us. We used to have you pay ERA directly but now, when the booking is made through VRBO's web site, the payments must be made through their site.
We require two payments, the first is due immediately upon me accepting your reservation request or you accepting my invitation to book. The final payment is due 30 days before your stay starts.
Our 30 day cancellation refund policy applies to stays of less than two weeks. For stays of 12 days or more (or that encompass two weekends) we apply a three month cancellation policy. We do this because it is very difficult to re-rent two or more weeks in 30 days. To make a reservation two weeks or more I will have to turn off the VRBO cancelation policy. VRBO does not have a three month option so I can only choose the no cancel option. However, your rental agreement from ERA Realty will indicate that you can cancel three months before your stay starts.

My family and I have stayed at this beach house off and on for over 20 years and have always loved it. We really like all of the updates but still love the older charm of the original wall paneling. I highly recommend this house for any family or a group of friends.

The location was great. It wasn’t too far out of town, but far enough to feel a little secluded. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Will be ready to stay there again…..soon!!

I’ve stayed here before with friends and loved the house so brought the family this time and we all had a great time. You can’t beat the location, right on the beach next to the access and house has everything you need. Kids each brought a friend and still had an extra bedroom. Short drive into town for coffee shops and restaurants for dinner at night or can walk up the beach after bodysurfing for a casual lunch!

Spacious house right across from the beach that has an old school beach house feel but is completely updated and comfortable at the same time. Perfection.

This property was perfect for our needs. It was exactly as described. Beach access was right accross the road. Many games were provided. We loved the outdoor space. It was lovely. Plan to return.

9 adults occupied this house. All slept well on so comfortable mattresses. The space is welcoming, the beach close by, across the dune on the corner, plenty of thought went into the use of cabinets, floorspace, bathrooms well appointed. you will be surprised and happy here.

We would definitely stay here again. It’s a great location. The kitchen/dining area is great for a large family and the deck is awesome. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. There were extra linens and pillows which was nice. A couple of the rooms had bifold doors with was a challenge to keep the toddler out of.

We had the absolute best stay. The house was clean and tidy. The space was perfect for accommodating a large party. We couldn’t have asked for a better accommodation!

This home has a great location. It's has a mixture of historic home with modern comforts. The only complaint is the bedrooms are small, we couldn't fit the babies portable crib in any of the bedrooms.

We were so blessed to gather with our family of 9 adults and 2 babies at this wonderful house! I had previously visited Amelia Island and was hopeful the rest of the family would fall in love with it as I did. They loved it, and staying at Mark's place definitely supported their feelings. I have stayed at many properties in the states and Europe, and this home stands at the top of my list. There are plenty of bath towels/washcloths and a nice supply of toiletries. We enjoyed the wide open living and dining space. The remodel over the winter months was a terrific idea-gathering and cooking space all together, enough bathroom space for everyone, (thanks for leaving one tub for the littles.) The kitchen is well-stocked as well. Location is excellent and the deck space is wonderful. I would suggest having a few more dish towels and dish cloths, although those probably disappear with use. We did have a small issue with the management company in that we weren't able to check in at 4:00. Stopping at the office, I was told check-in BEGINS at 4-we had to wait about 30 minutes to get into the house. I would highly recommend this house; comfortable, lots of character, relaxing, and for our family, a what a beach house should be. Thank you for having us; we hope to visit again!

The house was in a great location in respect to the beach. Updated kitchen and bathrooms. Clean. Great house to sleep several families together. 4 adult bedrooms and 1 bunk bedroom to sleep 4 kids.
Rental company responded well to our one concern and handled it promptly. Highly recommend.

I was a great location across from the beach with lots of out door sitting for all to enjoy. So peace to see the sun rise and set from the upper deck.

Our family has been going to FB for over 20 years for a family reunion, and numbers range from 9 to 25 people. We typically rented multiple condos because of the pool requests for the children, but this year everyone was older and tried a beach house. EVERYONE loved it! We could all sit around one table and not be crowded into a condo unit and had easy access to the kitchen, baths, decks and parking. It was very comfortable and charming. The owners were thoughtful with storage conveniences, games and loads of in/outdoor seating which we appreciated since it rained all but 1 day of our time there. Our only annoyance was w/ the realty's delay in giving us the check-in code which doesn't come until the cleaning crew is finished, but no one tells you that. Coming from multiple states and varying arrivals and nearing 4 PM w/ a 5 PM close time for the realty mgt makes you anxious. Mark is addressing this, but good to know here. We definitely want to come back!

Great Views from top deck of the ocean. Kitchen is amazing! Very close to the beach. Quiet neighborhood. Only problem is it would be nice if there were more sturdy doors to all the bedrooms.

The house was great for our family Xmas gathering. Lots of room to hang out, eat and play games. Cleaning crew needs to step up some to ensure things are clean. Couldn’t use the daybed because it was sandy.

Everything was great! It’s not modern so if that’s what you’re going then this place isn’t for you but it is exactly as listed! Had everything we needed. We have a big family and a couple pups and it was amazing. Highly recommend. We will book again for future family vacations.

We had plenty of room for everyone. The house was clean, and well stocked. We cooked in several nights. Easy access to the beach with little ones, two wagon loads of beach gear. Perfect location, close to lots of restaurants, and Main Street activities. ❤️

Exactly as described
This property was one of the best we have stayed out of all our travels. It's exactly as described and although it isn't the Ritz, it was more than adequate for our large family. The bedrooms are smallish but had a bed, places to hang clothes and store suitcases ( who wants to be in a bedroom when the beach is literally 100 or less steps from the house) The family areas are huge. Lots of seating and room to spread out. The decks are great, neighbors were very tolerant of our noise and comings and goings ( one son fished all hours of the night so they may have heard car doors and his rattling around in the dark) no complaints that I'm aware of.
While there, the house was having some repairs done to the exterior. ERA called and extended our host's apologies but it wasn't necessary. The workmen were courteous and didn't interrupt us at all. I just thought it was decent that Mark cared enough to ask if it was okay. And they dropped off a gift card for our trouble before departure.
You can tell that this home has been well cared for and loved through the years....are there nicer, more glamorous houses in the area? yep, sure , but I don't think we would have been comfortable in one of them. Mark explains this in his description and I knew it was going to be the one for us. We aren't partying but we do make noise, the house is old but well stocked and well loved and the BEACH!! Choose this one and you won't be sorry if you're looking for great memories, three generations and a dog and we had not one negative thing to say. That's proof that it was the right choice for us.
And the ants? buy an ant trap or even ask ERA to drop some by, I'm sure they'd accommodate your request....you're in a big ol pile of sand! you're gonna have ants but the gel traps worked instantly.
All in all we had a great vacation, the grandkids practically lived at the beach. The shells and sharks teeth were plentiful and the house is well equipped for rinsing it all off at the door.
Thank you Mark and ERA for making it all work smoothly.

Great beach cottage close to the beach
We had a really nice time. The house accommodated us well- lots of comfortable beds, nice large sofas, and plenty of dining space... and the beach was nice and close too! The house has been updated a bit since we booked which was a nice surprise. It was a great place to stay!
