Great location…quiets down once buses stop and dogs stop barking, which was fairly early. The room was comfortable, shower was hot and secure parking was good. Food was ok…not great, but ok.
You can hear your neighbor easily…so hopefully he is quiet!

good location, close to bus stop
really disappointed at the end of our stay when the hotel tried to make a 20mil pesos profit from booking us a taxi.
we asked them to book us a taxi which we were told by them would be 50mil pesos (thought it was a little bit expensive but we agreed). It turns out they had paid the taxi driver in advance but forgot to collect the money from us prior to departure. Once in the taxi, the driver told us the hotel had already paid him the 30 mil pesos for the journey.. We WhatsApped the
hotel immediately telling them we needed to pay, but they were still demanding the 50mil pesos… Luckily we can speak some basic Spanish so pointed out to the discrepancy and questioned why they were trying to make a 20mil profit out of us. The hotel eventually agreed and we paid them the 30 mil pesos (the original price for the taxi)
I would not normally write a review like this but I feel I have to mention it as it was a really bitter end to what was a pleasant stay prior to this.

what a beautiful gem! the pictures don’t do it justice. beautiful surroundings. exceptional staff
the location is a bit out of the way from Armenia but the drive is worth it.

Garden
Price excessive for what you have: really basic room and pretty uncomfortable bed / pillows

beautiful lush garden behind the property.
close to bus station
possibility to hang clothes
nice terrace
stayed in room Azuelito facing side building.
bathroom did not have a window, bathroom shower head old and full of stain
room dark with a small window
no harmony with regards to design or furniture - colors didn’t match and it felt like everything was just thrown together
noise from the street so I slept with eat plugs
10 min walk from main square

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Prepared and early breakfast at our request since we had to leave estra early.
There was no hot water on neither of the rooms we booked.

Morning staff and breakfast were pleasant.
First room offered had a concave bed and door open onto staff parking. I expressed back issues and was moved to a room with a nice little outside sitting area. Unfortunately, the bed was hard as rock and the electric outlet did not work. There was no wifi in the room and fellow on staff asked me to wait one minute. Forty minutes later I found him relaxing at reception. He informed me there was no wifi as promised on booking.com so I asked for a partial discount and he said he did not want to fight with me so I gave up and went out. When I returned for the night he asked me to leave hotel! It was getting dark out, I had nowhere to go, and I am a solo traveller, older single woman! I said I was not leaving, I had nowhere to go after dark. Thirty minutes later I had wifi!

For myself it was one of the friendly's hotel I ever stayed. The hotel and the rooms itself are simple but the staff was exceptional friendly, attentive and helpful. The hotel has a garden with a terrace for to relax and a small shop. They have as well a small restaurant which serves breakfast and small meals during the day until 6 pm. The location is a bit outside of the village center which takes a 8-10 min walk. What is convenient that the bus stop for buses to Armenia, Pereira and Medellin is just in front of the hotel. However the hotel offers a shuttle and taxi service between the hotel and the airports of Armenia and Pereira. It seems a bit pricey but it can save a lot of time and the hustle and bustle of changing buses. Also the buses are small and a lot of luggage can be very unhandy

I really enjoyed my stay at El Zorzal. Convenient location right across the street from the bus station, so a bit down from the main square (though it only takes up to 15 minutes to walk anywhere in town). The location also meant that it was very quiet, and it had a nice view of the countryside from the outdoor seating area. Staff are very friendly and helpful- offered to store some of my luggage when I went on a multi-day hike nearby. Felt very secure. The room is comfortable, with hot shower. Mini fridge in room is nice touch. Nice patio out front. Small, but well-equipped outdoor gym was also a bonus! Tony the dog is the best. :)
Only a couple minor concerns: Internet did not work well in the room, but did work well in the common seating area. Cannot use the kitchen in the morning because they are offering breakfast (I think if you are going to close the kitchen, then you should include breakfast in the price).

the location with the birds singing and flying around at breakfast was fantastic. Great parking too
the breakfast was just ok
bed was small and no shower head on the shower. However, it had nice hot water

beds were very uncomfortable

Beautiful garden, very helpful staff and right across the street of the bus terminal. Also availability to have breakfast and evening snacks.
Lovely big dog 🐶
In contrary to many reviews about hard beds, i slept good on it actually.
Late in the evening its a bit out of the centre so pretty quiet on the streets.
One thing to improve would be a power socket next to the bed, to charge the phone.

Friendly staff who helped a lot with suggestions, very convient location next to the bus station. Only a few minutes walking to the centre of Salento.

Beautiful gardens with all the bird sounds. Views of the close by hills. Quiet because it’s on the edge of town but only a short 10 minute walk to the main square. There was a good breakfast and the staff went out of their way to make my stay easy. They even made me a sandwich for breakfast the night before when I left very early for a hike.
The water pressure is less than to be desired.

Nice garden, super friendly staff.
Everything is a bit outdated and falling apart a bit. The bed was very hard.

The lady at the reception did her best to make my stay comfortable. She was very nice, attentive and caring. Breakfast was huge and the whole property is very well kept.
I found the room to be little shabby and washroom very small. But overall it was comfortable and we did had a great stay.

Location opposite the terminal, makes it very easy to leave your bags and explore the very hilly town. Large garden, visiting birds. Reasonable drink prices, free coffee. Room clean and spacious enough.
Shower didn't provide much hot water - it's a cold town in the morning.

If you want a party hostel choose one in the principal street. If you want a nice and quiet place with a lovely garden where you can watch the birds in the morning choose El Zorzal. It's at the edge of Salento opposite the small bus station, less than 10 minutes walk from the Plaza. Very nice staff too, thank you Maureen and all other lovely people!
Most of the time no WiFi in the room which I missed in the evening. WiFi in common places is fine. The bed is VERY hard.

This is a perfect hostal, all we needed for a comfortable stay was provided, we had coffee in the mornings and got to enjoy the sounds of nature since there are many fruit trees in the property which ensures that birds will sing to you. Their dog is the most lovely giant you will find and it loves to be petted.
The location is pretty good, right at the entrance of the town and four blocks away from the main square so you just need to walk a bit to get to the main attractions.
Staff is great and will help with what you need.

Bed a little hard for me.

We have stayed here before and will stay here again as the staff are lovely and the birdwatching from the veranda is excellent. They look for ways to be of service.
This time we were given a room with a very hard bed. I’m sure had I asked, they would have moved us.
