Great hotel in a perfect location

We had everything we could want. A spa in our room, robes, a large comfortable bed and windows looking on to the city for a sunset view. A full breakfast was brought to our room each day and our room was serviced daily. The location was perfect - a short walk to everything in the historic centre.

Because it is near the historic centre, it can be a little noisy at night, if that worries you.

The best place to stay in Coimbra

We had an absolute lovely stay at Solar luxury hotel. The host was so friendly and helpful, she made sure we had everything we needed for our stay and for our trip exploring the city, not to mention the room that was exceedingly beautiful.

Wished we were staying longer

From the time of check in thru check out, one is treated with extreme detail and sophistication. Upon arrival we were offered a complimentary beverage of bubbly wine or orange juice. Breakfast was included along with complimentary beers, coffee and tea n the room. The 2 person jacuzzi tub was a lovely bonus. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.

Wonderful experience at a very special property!

Steeped in history along the 18th c. castle roads, with National Geographic-worthy views from our windows, our group very much appreciated this stay. Original stone work and cobbled streets were really special. The welcome drink and breakfast were more than we needed. Everything was very clean. Catarina and her colleagues went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

Pay close attention to the information the property sends after booking— your calm arrival depends on it! Better yet; park in a public lot and have an Uber drop you and your luggage right at the door.

Simplesmente fantástico

Logo que chegamos fomos atendidos por uma jovem muita simpática a qual explica tudo com muito detalhe. Perguntou nos como boas vindas se queriamos espumante ou sumo de laranja. Levou nos ao quarto e esclareceu qualquer dúvida. As instalações são fabulosas ,decoração linda ,tivemos mesmo direito a um jacuzzi que não estava contratado que foi uma surpresa muito agradável. O pequeno almoço é servido no quarto com muita variedade, pão ainda morno ,simplesmente delicioso. No check out um saquinho de bolachas de despedida . Grande serviço de atendimento ao público, parabéns ,foram de facto fantásticos em tudo.

Uma experiencia diferente de hospedagem.

Hotel totalmente fora do padrão, muito interessante. Tinha Jacuzzi no quarto, isso foi uma surpresa pois selecionei o quarto mais simples. Café da manhã é servido no quarto, bem gostoso, mas isso limita um pouco as opções. Localização, principalmente para quem vai visitar a Universidade, ótima.

Lugar para parar o carro é bem ruim, mas isso é por conta da cidade muito antiga com ruas estreitas. Acessibilidade também não é das melhores.

Lovely hotel in central Coimbra.

Staff was excellent, friendly and helpful. Building was unique and very near the University. Breakfast delivered to the room daily. Wonderful views from rear window at night.

Do not plan on driving to this hotel. No hotel parking. On street (pay) parking may be available a couple of blocks away. Streets are very narrow and hilly. Directions provided by the hotel were not helpful, unless you are already familiar with the area. Take a train/bus (or find parking) and call a taxi/Uber.

Great place.

Unique. Wonderful staff. Breakfast delivered everyday. Welcome drinks. Departure cookies. Center of everything. Would stay there again now that I know where it is located.

Impossible to locate with map apps. We actually gave up (rerouting, rerouting) and were going to rent something else. No signs out front, would never know it was there just looking down the street. In their defense, it is in heart of historic district and not allowed to put up signs or alter anything.

Un alojamiento perfecto. Habitación muy bonita y cuidada, personal simpático y atento. El desayuno está muy bien, muy completo.

La zona para aparcar si vas en coche. Nosotros lo dejamos en el aparcamiento al lado del río que es muy barato y subimos en taxi.

Het was een grappige ervaring in zo’n soort grot met bizarre meubels en een bubbelbad in je kamer. Leuk ontbijt hoe het geserveerd wordt. Lekker bed, badjassen, goede handdoeken etc. Voelt luxe.

Het is echt heel heel erg steil om te belopen. Wel dichtbij de universiteit enzo, maar de stad beneden waar je moet zijn voor lunch, restaurants en boodschappen etc. is echt erg steil en zwaar om een paar keer per dag te lopen. Coimbra zelf is in 1 dag bekeken. Het ruikt vochtig in de kamer, waarschijnlijk door het bubbelbad, ook toen we hem niet gebruikten.

Je voelt je als een prinses in haar kasteel.

We hebben een gratis upgrade gekregen. Bij aankomst in het hotel waren we stomverbaasd over de mooie inrichting en het interieur. We voelden ons echte prinsessen. Alles van goud en tot in de details afgewerkt. Na het inchecken werd er ook champagne en cake naar onze kamer gebracht. Het mooiste hotel van onze reis in Portugal! Ook bij vertrek kregen we koekjes mee naar huis.

Gostámos de tudo. Foi uma noite como se tivessemos viajado ao tempo da monarquia. Tudo com muito requinte. E a atenção extra de nos deixarem um bolinho de aniversário com uma garrafa de espumante no frigorífico, foi fantástica.

Ну очень спорно, но задумка отличная. А если по порядку, то нам дали худший номер, я про этот номер потом в отзывах почитала. Спорить не стали, мы неконфликтные. В номере всё как-то неудобно. Шкафов нет совсем или хотя бы крючков для одежды. Отель( если так можно назвать) скорее частный доходный дом с несколькими подъездами. В каждый номер с оригинальным дизайном впихано джакузи. Джакузи это некая фишка этого заведения. Но собственники, стараясь сэкономить на материалах ну совсем не подумали, что джакузи и дешевый ламинат вещи не совместимые «от слова совсем». Фото прикладываю. Можно было пальцы потерять и вода проступала из щелей при наступании. Это единственный и надеюсь последний на моем опыте такой номер, где без обуви нельзя было ходить. Хорошо , что тапки были. Влажность в номере из-за этого было 90%. Вся одежда стала влажной. Которую, кстати, было некуда повесить. Откатная дверь в ванную не закрывалась, точнее она постоянно открывалась. Полочек в ванной не было. Но хозяева молодцы. Если чуть потратить на ремонт и хороший отделочный материал, то будет отлично, оригинально. Завтрака в номер ( из-за отсутствия столовой) также очарователен в этом отеле, хотя в нашем номере с мокрым и страшным полом, было не комфортно ставить корзину с едой на пол (так как поверхность столика 40х40 см) мы были вынуждены это делать. Но главное оставаться с хорошим настроением!

Оптимизма нам всем! Поменяйте ламинат на плитку и будет всем счастье.

Apesar da ótima localização, não recomendo.

Gostei da localização e do atendimento dado pela equipe, em especial pela Sra. Catarina.

Acredito que houve uma extrema preocupação com o design, mas infelizmente não houve preocupação com a conveniência. Ficamos no quanto com a melhor vista, que era realmente interessante, mas para chegar lá foram 5 lances de escada estreita carregando malas, muito complicado e estressante. No quarto havia uma banheira com vazamento, então não conseguimos usar, e um chuveiro claustrofóbico com vazamento, a água do banho escorria pelo piso do quarto todo. Uma pena me decepcionei.
