Central location, really good informative hosts
Unfortunately we all found the beds really uncomfortable

Liked everything! Very large and comfortable apartment, antique furniture, a restaurant and a market nearby, all sights are accessible on foot in 5-10 minutes. The owner met me at the apartment and kindly provided all the information.

The property is quiet & away from much of the street noise. It has a large outside private patio deck for sitting and drying clothes, with a orange tree and nice plants on the patio below it. The owner was very friendly and quick to help and answer questions. Short walk to the old center of town and restaurants. Big market just down the hill.
The bed mattresses are very hard and uncomfortable. Perhpas OK for a night or two. We stayed 10 nights. We needed to use the outdoor chair pads and extra folded blankets to provide more padding under the bottom sheet. Like much of the old city Coimbra, the apartment is located a rather steep hill. Great exercise but may not be appropriate for people with ambulation challenges. The furniture in the sitting TV room is rather uncomfortable. The double doorways are narrow requiring both doors to be open for easier entrance/exit.

This is a beautiful antique apartment in an ancient building, high up on one of the narrow streets of the original town, with a gorgeous view of the city from the terrace. Host Pedro tells me he is slowly remodeling the apartment into an exquisite jewel as a retirement hobby project, and he rents it out between work periods. The building is narrow, with a long hall & 2 bedrooms opening from it. The beds are new and extra firm - great for sore backs! The bathroom is beautiful, with gorgeous antique fixtures and an endless hot water supply. A roomy kitchen and a tiny living room complete the inside rooms, but a wonderful large private terrace awaits out the back door! The view is magnificent from this vantage point: 150 feet above a public gazebo with reflecting pools, it looks across the valley to the neighboring hill. There are several good restaurants just down the hill from the building - I had a very delicious dinner at Sete just below my apartment (a 75-meter walk to the lower road). A car is recommended for getting around, though parking in the narrow streets is 1st-come, 1st served. I lucked out and parked right next to the door every time!
like any old building, the windows are drafty and there is no central heating system. There are very effective modern digital air conditioning/heating units in both bedrooms and Pedro has 2 large roll-around heaters, but it takes a while to warm up such a large apartment and I found that I had to keep the thermostats set to 23c to stay comfortable at 20-21c. This was not a problem for me but someone coming from the US might not be used to room heaters rather than central heating.

Host was looking for us in the street so easier to find the place. Pedro was so helpful and warm in his demeanor towards us. we loved the history of the apartment and we were within walking distance to everything we had time for in Coimbra.

The charming interiors. Fantastic patio and the views of the city and hills.
The charming owner who would do literally anything to aid in your comfort. Even including helping drive our rental car up the narrow streets to retrieve our luggage! Then drive us to the start of the autostrada to Cascais/Lisbon.
Would highly recommend to anyone!
Only complaint would be the mattresses are extremely hard.

Extremely good location in the hearth of the old town, also the property has great views from every room and superb terrace! Minutes away from the main points of interest, the owners are extremely welcoming and helpful, we had a great stay!

Not terribly comfortable. Furniture in the sitting room a bit run down. We were lucky but parking could be a challenge.

The place was amazing with the view from the terrace and very comfortable and quite big apartment. The owners very waiting for us and they were very nice and helpful, helped us with the parking in narrow street. I definitely recommend this place and would come again!

This property is in an older building and still retains a lot of character with original wood decorated high ceilings. It also retains the original wooden window shutters and has double doors into the rooms. It’s halfway up the hill that dominates the town and on the top of which is the University. The pictures on the website give a very accurate impression of the interior. On ground level on the street side of the property the building drops away on the other side and has a terrace which overlooks the town and the Gardens of Manga, with the only remaining building from the St. Augustinian Cloister, directly below. This is flood lit at night. It is only a very short walk into the pedestrianised centre of town, although down (and up!) a very steep hill, with its range of restaurants, cafes, patisseries and shops. The covered market is minutes away for fresh produce and the University and botanic gardens are above the property. It’s also only a few minutes walk from Coimbra train station. It seemed a quiet location even though so close to the town centre.
The bed in the double room was very comfortable and the heating fast and efficient in this room. Would suggest this property is better suited to summer guests rather than those travelling in the colder months.
The host was really welcoming, friendly and informative.
We stayed in February and although it was mild to warm during the day the temperature dropped significantly in the evening and whilst the heating in the bedrooms was excellent, the kitchen and small sitting area were quite cold. There’s a door between the kitchen and twin bedroom (as well as the door from the hallway) and the host advised turning the bedroom heater on and opening this door. Whilst this was reasonably effective the kitchen was never really comfortable to sit in and whilst this might be a partial solution if there were only 2 people or 4 adults it wouldn’t work if you had children who needed to get to sleep earlier. The bathroom had no heating and no heated towel rail so there was a lot of steam and condensation after showering and it was difficult to dry the towels. This wouldn’t be a problem in the spring/summer but not ideal if you are planning a winter break.
There were only 2 of us and the flat has 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin. Both were a good size but the kitchen and small sitting area were not really big enough to comfortably accommodate 4 and certainly not 4 adults.
