Clean and tidy with excellent decor throughout. The menu for my evening meal was fantastic and included a wide selection of dishes to suit anyone’s tastes. The staff were very professional and friendly. The grounds and views are a true delight and the situation is both quiet and convenient for my needs.

Ideal location and good price

Nice set up. At a family wedding and lucky we had a nice day to use the garden. Drinks a bit warm in function room so nipped into bar and were cooler from there.
Cleaners were quite noisy on our stairs about 8.30 am. If you were hoping for a lay in you'd have been disappointed. Doors banging and loud talking

Nothing we loved it.

Beautiful setting. Very good twin bedroom with very good bathroom. Food ok but not outstanding.
Food could be more imaginative although the steak pie was very good. Breakfast was ok, as almost always tomatoes under cooked whilst one of the poached egg was overdone. But these are minor grumbles we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful hotel, views are absolutely stunning to most parts making it look like you're in a different world, it is majestic in every way possible and the staff are just a delight, so helpful and welcoming, we will definitely be back with family and friends. Thank you for a magnificent stay. Without it being the best get away already my partner decided to pop the question on the balcony 🥰 it couldn't of happened at a better place, my heart is so full right now.
There was nothing to dislike, it was amazing from start to finish.
6.0 / 10.0
location + balcony views + evening meals + staff
some breakfast items were poor (eg kipper ?boil in the bag and precooked bacon & sausage) and only fruit was canned grapefruit (off limits for most oldies); no prunes or “continental “ bfast.
Poor sound insulation between adjacent bedrooms - noise till midnight every night.
Cursory room cleaning (food items left from previous occupants and obvious door smears not sorted)

Comfort, locations
5.0 / 10.0
Great location with amazing views, modern finish and good food.
The sound proofing of the rooms was awful, both nights we were disturbed throughout the night by people talking, having sex, baby crying and watching TV. The toilet did not flush properly and the water temperature was up & down when showering.
The service in the mornings at breakfast was poor because requests for food and drinks on 2 occasions weren't completed until we chased up after waiting a substantial time.

Breakfast was good, bar meals were excellent, location was amazing
Room had view onto courtyard with vans coming and going. Noisy early morning.
4.0 / 10.0
The poor review is in no way a reflection on the staff, who were friendly and tried to be helpful.
The hotel is sadly not value for money in any way.
The evening meal was served in an echoing large room normally used for functions (the Wallace Suite). Chairs stacked against the walls, no linen on the tables. We felt as though we were in a scene from Phoenix Nights. The hotel room (superior family room) was very dated, old carpet in the bathroom, rather threadbare carpet in the room. We paid £255 for the room (which didn’t include breakfast or evening meal) and I would say that it was hugely overpriced for the experience we had. The location is pretty but the hotel needs a significant amount of investment to bring the rooms up to date, and really needs to reassess their dining arrangements. The hotel bar itself is dated but looked much cosier to eat in, so if you do go here, make sure you’re clear that you wish to eat in the bar itself.
