More Details:
Just a 5 minute walk to the heart of Government Camp! Although only an hour from Portland, its 4000 feet elevation makes it seem a world away: a gateway to all that Mt. Hood has to offer. In winter, downhill skiing, sledding, tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or just sitting by the fire in a winter-wonderland. In summer, some of the best hiking in the country, including the Pacific Crest Trail. Our favorite, Mirror Lake and the peak of Tom, Dick and Harry, whose trail-head is just a mile down Highway 26.
Of course, what is a vacation without relaxing in a hottub! Collins Lake Resort features the Creekside Lodge with free wi-fi, sauna, pool (88F), hot-tub (105F), and a mini pool set in the woods (101F). There are also trails through the 28 acres.
The townhouse is an end-unit, with extra windows to let the sunshine in. It is on 3 levels, so there are some stairs to navigate. First floor has a 2 car tandem garage and laundry (wash/dryer). Second floor has the kitchen, dining area, living room, a halfbath, and a balcony with a BBQ. Third floor has the master bedroom with a queen-sized bed and private bathroom, 2nd bedroom with a queen-sized bed and views of Mt. Hood. Since this is an end-unit, it has a 3rd enclosed room with a window, that has a twin-size bunk-bed. There is a second full bathroom on the 2nd floor.
Some might call this a chef's kitchen. We certainly make sure that the kitchen is well stocked,. It has a gas stove, full-size fridge with ice-maker, microwave, and dishwasher. There's also a toaster, a blender, a coffee grinder, and a great selection of pots and pans. We even stock some common spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, creamer, tea and coffee.
The balcony and master bedroom face SkiBowl. They also overlook highway 26, but with the door/window closed, you can barely hear the cars.
The unit comfortably sleeps 4 adults and 2 children, in the 2 queen and 2 twin beds. There is a sofa bed in the living room that can sleep two additional guests. If there are more than 6 guests, there is a $10 per person per night surcharge.
We also stock 2 pairs of snowshoes, and several children's sleds. There is a flat screen TV, DVD player, WiFi, cable, a selection of movies and books.
No pets are allowed. Smoking is not allowed in the unit. No parties.
The Mt. Hood Express bus goes from Sandy to Timberline Lodge, with stops in between, including at Collins Lake.

My son and I stayed at this unit for 4 nights while he trailed at Timberline. The unit was comfy and super functional, with all appliances working great.

Fantastic condo in great location with everything you need.

Such a great place for our family. Peter made it so easy and welcoming. Snack basket was much appreciated! Would very much recommend!

Peter was a great host. His new door code mechanism is a great addition and makes entry simple. The units at Collins lake are the perfect place for a family ski vacation.

Great location and accommodations. Peter was a great host. Planning to stay here again in the future.

We loved our convenient check in and check out, comfortable accommodations, proximity to the snow. Host was attentive and accommodating. Will stay here again!

This is a great place to stay! The condo was great - the beds were comfortable, the living room was extra cozy with the fireplace going, we had fun with the foosball table in the garage, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. It's in a great location, close to town, hikes, and tubing. We'd definitely stay again.

This unit is so lovely, and the setting is magical. There was fresh snow when we arrived, making the hot pool in the forest that much more special! The unit itself is perfectly appointed, with everything we needed for a lovely stay. We did some exploring (Mt. Hood, so nearby hiking at Zigzag Falls) and otherwise just enjoyed relaxing in the rental because it was so perfect. Thank you Peter for being so responsive and accommodating!

I have never stayed at a vacation rental that was better organized than this place. The host Peter responded quickly to any questions and has focused on every detail. The kitchen is stocked with the staples you need, rooms have ceiling fans, with all switches labeled. Peter was able to adjust my dates and checkout time, He simplifies the requirements for pack up and checkout, and he promptly mailed my left-behind phone charger to me.
Compared to the other condos I have seen at Collins Lake resort, this has more amenities, is more tastefully and usefully furnished, and as an end unit has more windows and much more light. The location of the complex is convenient, walkable to the restaurants in town.
There is traffic noise from Highway 26 which passes nearby, with trucks and cars passing through at all hours. This probably affects all of the units at the Collins Lake complex, though may be louder at the units like this one that are in the southern half of the complex. The windows are double-paned and it didn't bother my family's sleep, but if you are a light sleeper you could consider ear plugs or a sound machine.

We came to Government Camp to ski at Mt. Hood Meadows. The condo was PERFECT. There was more than enough room for the 4 of us. EVERY light switch was labeled and made it so much easier. The kitchen was well stocked. We did not bring food, as I was planning to go to the grocery store past Government Camp. However, with the raging snowstorm we decided to just use the general store. They were pretty well stocked with everything we needed, and prices were what we are used to in CA. The pizza place was really good too. The leisure pool was the favorite. It was about 20 minutes (with snow covered roads) to the most AMAZING powder we have ever skied. We would love to come back, but we know the chances of having snow like that again are slim!

Great property, kitted out with everything you’d need for a stay. Minutes from SkiBowl and the shuttle to Timberline. Will check for availability here if we head to the mountain for a stay.

Great, clean property. Close to Skibowl and central Government Camp area. Leisure pool at the complex was great. The townhouse had plenty of space for our family. And the extra ammentities such as ping pong and some snow playing supplies were a bonus but we ended up not using them. Would love to stay here again and recommend to others.

This property was perfect for our family getaway to the snow. Communication and check in was seamless. We picked up groceries on the way and were able to cook all our meals. Getting to Meadows was quick and when tubing was sold out we were able to utilize the sleds at snow bunny. All in all it was a quick weekend but I wouldn't hesitate to book again upon returning.

My family and I had a great time here. It's located close to Skibowl which was great for the kids. The most impressive part was that the townhouse had everything that you needed; a stocked spice cabinet, coffee and tea, board games, and movies. There is a heated pool and hot tub located at the lodge that we enjoyed. Overall a great winter getaway.

Me and 6 of my friends stayed here over the weekend! We were so pleased with how clean and roomy the house was. The hot tub and pool were also amazing to go in and have such an amazing view! Peter is super sweet as well and is an amazing renter and we will definitely be back next year for a trip! Thank you so much again :)

I can’t say enough good things about Peter. As the host and owner of this property, he went out of his way to communicate with us and make us feel welcome. He was incredibly responsive to my questions, making the check in and (even more importantly!) the check out process so easy! The home is well-stocked with all good kitchen supplies, spices, garbage bags, ziploc bags, plastic containers for food storage, and even coffe and coffee supplies that we found we were over prepared with the things we did supply (and usually bring to rental homes….not needed here!). The location was amazing, walking distance to town and a short drive to Mt Hood. I would highly recommend this home for anyone wanting to enjoy Government Camp and the Mt Hood area. We had a fantastic time!

Great location
This townhome was located close to hiking trails, ski slope, activities, food, and shops. It was very homey and comfortable. The extra touches, gift snack basket and hot chocolate, frozen beer mugs, coffee were a great touch.
The pool and hot tub was very close and we enjoyed using the big hot tub in the trees. I’m sure it would be amazing in the winter with the snow falling.
Another BIG perk was minimally clean up before leaving.
We loved the Mirror Lake hike even though there was some snow and we couldn’t do the Tom,Dick,Harry trail. The drive and view to Timberline Lodge was breathtaking!
Would definitely stay here again!!
There is some road noise but it didn’t bother me sleeping.

Comfortable and convenient
The condo was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. Communication from the host was very clear and helpful. Note: Many of the Collins Lake Condos are located along US26, so the bedroom facing that direction gets highway sound - earplugs would be good to have, especially in summer if windows are open.

Great get away
The condo was clean, well equipt with most everything you need. Loved being able to park our 2 cars in the garage with all the lovely snow we got while we were there. We didn’t make use of the communal hot tub but we had adequate hot water for 5 adults for showers. I will definitely come back.

Great location!
We had a great stay here for a weekend of playing at Mt. Hood. We loved how close we were to everything. The host was super friendly and the unit was very clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. There was noise from Hwy 26, but we brought a white noise machine with us and were able to close the windows at night and use the ceiling fans to keep cool. Overall, a great stay.

We found this home really wonderful! We arrived super late at the townhome, but it was still easy to find and enter. (Be aware the address is on the wooden posts, not the alpha-numeric code on the glass - I think that is for resort purposes). The home was a great size for us (a family of 4) and the kids loved using the foosball table in the garage and the sleds provided on the sled hill 1 min walk to the right out the front door. The heated garage was really nice and made for super easy loading and unloading. We never had to deal with a cold car that the kids didn't want to get into. The main reason for our visit was skiing and the location was as good as it gets in the area. You can walk to the town for restaurants or the general store. You have to drive everywhere else, but that is the nature of the Mt Hood ski area. The house was really clean. I actually don't think I've ever stayed in a vacation rental so clean before. The dishes were clean and everything felt good to use - nothing was yucky. You'd have to be mobile since there are 2 flights of stairs in the house. Our 6 yr old actually broke his leg while skiing at Meadows and after that, it was tough getting him up and down the stairs. Not an issue at all for 2 legged walking people, but an issue for anybody with mobility issues. Finally, Peter was really kind. He said we can call him if we need help even at 1am. That was really thoughtful, considering we were arriving so late.

skication
The unit was spacious and clean. Water pressure in the showers is good. It's nice to have the extra windows on the end unit for more natural light. Communication with Peter was very good (he responds quickly.) I can't think of anything we lacked other than an ice cream scooper. :) As noted in other reviews, the master bedroom is facing hwy 26. In winter, the windows were closed, so although we could hear trucks and cars going by (esp with chains during the storms occurring during our stay), it wasn't a big deal. I'd imagine in summer, you'd hear more car noise because the windows would be open.
