Sorry, alles was dik in orde!

De rust, het uitzicht. Het was een ideale uitvalsbasis om de streek te verkennen te voet. Op 1 van de wandelingen kregen we het gezelschap van de hond des huizes. Fijn! :-)

We enjoyed our stay very much. At Casa Cavoquinho we were hosted by Belén and her staff. One of her principles says that everyone who is there is Family. We left, feeling like departing from our new family. Excellent place to stay as if you are in paradise. We were in the top room, with a breathtaking view! Belén and Jose made Casa Cavoquinho a sustainable place surrounded by nature. Where do I stop? Thank you!

L'emplacement magique.

We cannot speak highly enough of the beautiful Casa Cavoquinho. Stunning location, amazing views, lovely rooms. But the best part was the staff - so welcoming and helpful. And the best cooks! Breakfasts and dinners were the best food we had in Cape Verde. Thank you!

This place is a perfect base for doing hikes in Paul Valley because the hotel is located on the trails, so you don’t need transportation, you can just start your hike after breakfast. José and Belén are super helpful, they have several good recommendations about hikes nearby. The staff is also amazing and they prepared super delicious breakfast and dinner. The peaceful, slow-life atmospheare of this place was really special. Wish we could have stayed longer. Abslutely recommended

The location, the view and the amazing staff
Mattress is a bit hard but that’s a detail

The view is stunning. Much better than most others including the Aldeo Panoramico. There are few rooms so crowds or noise is no problem. The hosts, especially Jose goes out of his way to make sure your stay at the accommodation is the best possible. Checking with us each morning to make sure we have a plan and offering advice on possible hikes that fit our fitness and time and then asking how it went at the end of the day was a daily occurrence. Breakfast was included but we took the dinner meal option. The food was excellent. It was delicious, representative of the area, varied and plentiful. Menu is displayed in the morning so you have the option of joining in. Everything is added to your bill, so be prepared. The Grogue, Punch and Fogo wine were our favorite drinks. A friendly cat and two small quiet dogs greet you each time you come down the stairs. Drinking water is from the mountain springs processed through a reverse osmosis filtration system for safety, and it's free. If hiking, fitness and photography are your passion you'll need at least 5-7 days on Santo Antão. It is a large island with trails everywhere. Having a car will open the island up for breathtaking drives over high mountain passes through climatic zones. The flora changes are remarkable. We have decided to return to Boa Vista and Santo Antão for a dedicated diving hiking holiday. Avoid CV winter when the European hoards and cruise ships descend on the islands; come in the off or shoulder seasons to have your choice of accommodation, better prices and wonderful weather.
There is a walk of about 150 meters from the road to the accommodation of which you'll need to carry your bags or ask Jose to find someone to help you. Parking is not easy but possible if you drive.
My only problem with the accommodation was the noise. The neighbours engaged in loud disputes and their dogs and roosters were right behind our uppermost room breaking the silence needed to have a good night's sleep. I would not have survived without earplugs.

Loved the place.
Stunning view.
Great staff!
So helpful!!
Haha not much to say here!
The roosters 🐔 waking us up at 4am every morning maybe haha!
But that's how life is on this amazing island! And always better than hearing cars, or city noise!!

Great view from the room’s window for a valley. Nice, home atmosphere, good dinners (local with a some European touch).
It was Ok. No comments.

Interesting location high up in the Paul Valley. Reached along a narrow path from the little plaza by the old water pump.
Lovely views.
Good location for walks.
Nice breakfast.
Filtered water available, so no need to keep buying plastic bottles.
Clean, simple room.
Sadly Belem seemed very grumpy while we were there. Clearly, from other reviews, this is not usually the case. We felt we tried to be friendly but it didn't work.
We got very fed up with other guests constantly smoking on the terrace right outside our door.
Evening meal expensive. (Definitely try the lovely, friendly restaurant straight across the road, run by a local family)

All was great. Accomodation, views, services, food and communication. They took care of us very well
Nothing to mention

We really enjoyed our stay! José and the staff were very welcoming, offering great recommendations on the hiking trails and nearby restaurants. The studio was comfortable and offered beautiful views on the valley and surrounding mountains. The food was delicious and diverse.

Everything! The staff is very nice and helpful. The food is great. Fresh, homemade and organic. The owner of this place is awesome and helps a lot with acitivies and organization. Drinkable water is available at that place. 😊 Highly recommended! Will come back soon.

Dinners were really really good!

Beautiful location, in the middle of the valley so great starting point for the hikes. Views were amazing. There’s not many bars and restaurants in the valley, but they were close by. Staff was so so warm and so was the host. He was helpful and gave proactive information. Dinner at the house is possible and is just splendid. We had multiple tries and each of them even more delicious than the other. We had the terrace room and paid a little extra for this room. It was super spacious.

Best view ever from the sleeping room!
Super nice staff and dinner was exceptional!
I would recommend everyone to stay here at least one night!

A very warm welcome (with a drink) and personal tips for to do's (depending on your preferences). The information for hikes and a big map is available to check all the time.
I also liked it a lot that there was a small extra room with table and sofa where you could chill.
The food in the restaurant and the breakfast is delicious. Local style food served with very good quality. (dinner is a bit expensive, but you can also eat in restaurants nearby if you want to change over the days).
It's also easy to reach with car and very nice hikes starting from the hotel.
There are many reasons to come back here!
Also the best beds and cosy room we had during our whole holiday (5 accommodations in total).
I would say this valley is the best to stay (I liked it more than Coculi/Ribera Grande Valley).
Nothing they can do about it, but the hotel is in a valley/on the mountainside. In the afternoon (from 2 pm?) there is no sun anymore. Since it was winter when we stayed, it was chilly, windy and cloudy as well. That's the only thing why I would maybe search an other located hotel next time (IF there hotels on the sunny side, I don't know about that). Lower in the valley there are more options I think. Maybe it's different in summer.

Belem and „the family“ welcomed us warmly and helped us with all our questions and recommended hiking tours. The view from our room and the food (for me there was delicious vegetarian food every night) were highlights too! Thank you very much!

Probably the most scenic place ive ever stayed.
As it was winter the room was very cold.

Breakfast was amazing, stayed 2 nights and both mornings breakfast was different
The view from our mountain view room was fabulous and the bed, wow, so comfy, best I’ve ever slept in
Evening meal, we had our both nights in the restaurant, but there is a excellent local restaurant opposite which was very good according to our friends
Belem the owner is lovely and very helpful
You are dropped off then you walk a little way to the guest house which was great as you pass a couple of locals houses
We walked down into Paul which took a few hours downhill, very picturesque all the way down, a photographers dream, a few good restaurants along the coast
Overall our stay was amazing
Don’t hesitate to book this guesthouse, you will not be disappointed
The weather but that cannot be helped, we had a amazing tour in fabulous clear weather then it rained the day after, nothing to moan about

Large windows with the most amazing view
The room was large was impeccably tidy and clean
Belém was extremely welcoming and a very helpful. I would have been literally and figuratively lost on my upcoming hike without her.
Breakfast including cachupa, bruschetta, yoghurt with (I think) oats, mixed fruit, cake and papaya jam was a perfect start of the day before going on a hike.
It's pricey. Probably you're getting your money's worth, but there's very solid accommodation for half the price available elsewhere on the island.

The location of the property high up in the Paul Valley is stunning. The staff and the evening dinner were great.

Little oasis in Pauls valley, many options for hikes nearby. Good vibes, friendly staff and amazing dinner and breakfeast with fresh local produce. Our room (nr 1) had a beatiful panoramic view on the valley.

Olaf and his wife were exceptional mangers and hosts to our family over the 4-nights we stayed at the Casa. The cooking staff was also very friendly and prepared very tasty and organic food sourced locally. We tried new dishes and they even cooked what we requested for our vegetarian daughter :)
The location was way up the Paul Valley, which took 10+ minutes to drive from the town of Paul, so walking down into town was not really an option. Otherwise the views and quietness were spectacular!

The staff went above and beyond at Casa Cavoquinho, playing with my daughter, organising transport and giving information about hikes in the area. They organised a cot for our room and prepared bottles for her too! Extremely clean throughout the property, warm powerful shower and delicious home cooked meals.
There is nothing I didn't like.

The location is just breath-taking, the views over the Paul Valley. If you have the opportunity to stay in the panoramic double room then do. We have never stayed anywhere with such an amazing view. The staff were great, very knowledgeable on local hikes. A handout sheet with local hikes with QR codes to scan, instantly opens the route in maps.me.
They kindly arranged for us to have an earlier breakfast, (great breakfast) so we could start our hike up to the Cova at 7am. Perfect timing, we reached the top without the heat of the sun.
We only chose to eat dinner there once, as we thought it was a little overpriced and quite limited. A little carb heavy and lacking vegetables.
But, don't let this put you off, we would have defiantly stayed there longer and loved the location and view so much.

View from the Hotel is amazing. And it is really nice to get nice hot shower and tasty meal after day of hiking. I can truly recommend this beautiful valley and casa cavoquinho as a relaxing place to stay.
Air in the valley and in the room is moist so don't expect your shirt to dry overnight.

Incredible location with gorgeous mountain views, very clean and comfortable rooms and amazing food! The team even went out of their way to accommodate for my friend's vegan diet and created some very delicious meals on short notice. Overall the perfect base for hikes around the area - highly recommended.
No complaints about the accommodation whatsoever, but be aware that you might find the recommended hikes slightly harder than indicated in the hotel's overview and do consider having a local guide with you if you are inexperienced.
4.5
The property was in the most beautiful location. About as high up in the valley as you can be. Everything was clean and in excellent condition. the view from the terraces are spectacular and be sure to stay an extra day just to enjoy the property. The dinners were delicious and well worth it. Bring earplugs since the village roosters will wake you up!
We had our own car and it was a little difficult to find, but that’s mostly because the amazing location. It was difficult to find as it was as high up as possible. If taking your own car, it might be difficult to locate, since a Google maps ends about a kilometer earlier.
