About this house rental
Extraordinary privacy and convenience just a 10-minute walk to Main Street.
You don't have to choose between privacy and convenience when staying at this grand 1863 home - it offers the best of both! This 5 bedroom, 2 bath single-family home was the Sunset View Inn in the early 1900's. With all new electrical wiring in 2017, it rests proudly on 3 acres at the end of a dead-end street. At this house you can spread out, sleep in, and enjoy a game of croquet or badminton on the lawn. Use the WiFi and flat-screen TV to stay connected, or turn devices off and tune into the birds singing and the wind rustling the trees instead. It will feel so far away, yet it's so close. The woods behind are part of East Mountain and the land to the front is wooded park land. Many of the Berkshires' best attractions are within a 15-20 minute drive including Tanglewood, Norman Rockwell Museum, Shakespeare and Company, Berkshire Theater, and Chesterwood. Several hiking and skiing locations are also very convenient with Monument Mountain and Ski Butternut just 5 minutes away. Enjoy sunsets on the fully screened front porch. Pack up the picnic items provided and enjoy a concert at Tanglewood. Take these same items along with our beach towels to enjoy a swim at Lake Mansfield – just five minutes away! You can choose to stay in and cook using our fully stocked kitchen and outdoor grill, or you can dine at one of the many fabulous restaurants in town. When done, you can enjoy varied entertainment downtown – whether you walk or drive is up to you!

We were in town for a family reunion and we were able to enjoy this home with our family and a cousin's family. 5 bedrooms, all comfortable. Window air conditioners upstairs and dining room unit downstairs definitely keep the house very comfortable on hot days. Great quiet location next to woods that is also amazingly also an easy walk into downtown Great Barrington. Very well-stocked kitchen. Amy was very responsive when I had questions and was very understanding when my husband accidentally damaged a lamp.
It feels like staying at the home of a favorite family relative rather than the usually nondescript decor at many rentals.
We definitely hope to stay again!

We chose this house for our weekend ski getaway as it could fit our entire group comfortably (4 adults and 4 kids), was close to Butternut (5 minutes), and looked great in the pictures. It exceeded our expectations and we are already planning a return visit!

We were a group of two families- with a total of 4 adults and 5 kids. We enjoyed our stay, local playground and hikes were great for the kids. Diner in GB also family friendly. The house is a quirky antique- had plenty of small bedrooms and was full of fun family games. It well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, etc.

“Our” house was on a dead end street on top of a hill with lots of sunshine and lovely views. It was roomy, comfortable and had all the amenities one could ever need (including a giant washer/dryer). The owner had thought of everything and she was extremely easy and kind. A deer came right up to the kitchen window and pressed her nose against the glass -great fun!

Wonderful Weekend at a Wonderful Property!
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this charming house! House was a great size for our family! It was super clean with very comfortable beds. The house was set back with a beautiful private yard with lots of wildlife we enjoyed watching from the lovely screened porch, but it was also super close to downtown Great Barrington. Amy was very responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again! Thank you!

MLK weekend with skiing at Butternut
Stayed at the property for 3 nights over MLK weekend. We had a great time. The house feels like it’s in the countryside but it’s just a couple of mins drive to GB and super easy access to Butternut. The house itself is very old and needs some serious updating, however, everything was clean and Amy was very responsive over text and allowed us to have a very early checkin.

A Wonderful Family Christmas in Great Barrington
The house was as near to perfect as we could find. Plenty of room, very well-equipped, comfortable beds and furniture, warm and charming. We cooked huge meals every day, and we were very pleased with the quality of the pots and pans, and the collection of utensils. Plenty of nice dishes and cutlery, even tablecloths and cloth napkins to set a Christmas table for six adults, a teen, and a tween, plus a high chair for the little one. The location of the house is ideal. Long walks and runs in the neighborhood, and only a 10 minute walk to the center of town. We were all delighted. Amy had everything covered. A bit of snow the day before Christmas was the perfect touch. Happy New Year. Five big stars. We'll be back.

Another lovely family reunion
We love coming and staying at Amy's home. This was our third year back. The house is big enough for all of us, and it's always pristine when we arrive. And we love that it's so close to town. Thank you so much, Amy!

Very comfortable
Large, well equipped house. The kitchen had all the tools we needed. There were at least three sets of dishes. Comfortable living room, dining room & eat in kitchen. Lovely screened porch. We used 4 of the 5 bedrooms—each very comfortable & spacious. The house was exceptionally clean. Located close to town and near all the area’s cultural & shopping areas. Looking forward to returning next summer.

Great value
We did not need to use much of what was offered at this property but it seems wonderful for a family especially if staying a week or so. We had too much exploring to do but the location is perfect for being in GB and exploring the Berkshires. Owner had great communication. For the price, I don't think this property can be beat.

Loved this property
Character abounds in this beautiful, well maintained “mature” home in a quiet neighborhood, yet so convenient to many beautiful sights. Mornings were spent with a cup of home brewed coffee in a very nice, clean machine, on the porch watching the fox cubs frolicking across the driveway in the field. Grocery store close by as well as a good variety of quality restaurants. Home is well stocked with essentials. (loved the unbleached coffee filters too!) Showers are great and beds comfortable. Owner very responsive to questions and pleasant to work with. Would definitely stay again when visiting the area.

Perfect for a Berkshire Getaway
We had a terrific stay at this wonderful home. Amy is an extremely responsive host and so easy to work with - she offered us early check-in even though we never asked for this and was flexible on the check-out time too. The house is exactly as picture and described - 5 well appointed bedrooms, plenty of towels in the bathrooms, and an extremely well stocked kitchen. We used the kitchen to make breakfast and dinners and had everything that we needed including a gas grill right outside the kitchen door. The house is within easy walking distance to town but it also feels like it is out in the country - we took a great hike from the backyard! This was a perfect spot to kick back with friends. We would definitely stay here again.

My four friends and I, all college Seniors, stayed at Amy’s beautiful home for three months this Fall while taking online classes. This home is incredibly charming, clean, and spacious. There was room for all five of us to take classes and congregate in the dining room and living room. The house really does feel like an inn. All the bedrooms are spacious with at least two big windows, and felt tastefully decorated and homey. The kitchen was fully equipped and also spacious, so all 5 of us could cook at once! We enjoyed coffee in the mornings or cocktails in the evening on the to die for screened-in porch that has a gorgeous view of Great Barrington and nearby mountains. The house is surrounded by nature—just steps from the driveway, there is a path that takes you up to East Rock, one of the best hikes/views in Great Barrington. We did this hike a few times a week and it never got old. The neighborhood is very safe and pretty. There is a park just down the driveway with swings and a large grassy area where people walk their dogs. You’re only a five minute drive from Lake Mansfield and the Green river, both beautiful spots to swim! That being said, you are by no means remote—the proximity of Great Barrington made this stay even more perfect. The town is full of shops, bars, restaurants, and little day hikes/walks that are filled with history. My roommates and I would enjoy walks down to the Berkshire Co-op every day, where you can get local and fresh produce, and has a great bulk selection. The town has adapted so well to COVID-19 protocol, and many restaurants have genuinely beautiful and spacious outdoor dining that make going out still worthwhile and fun. Railroad Street shuts down traffic on Saturdays and all the restaurants have outdoor seating on the street, and there is often live music.Amy was so communicative and helpful throughout our stay. When there was an issue with the sink, her husband Greg drove down the next day to help us fix it. She was also very kind—as she knew that we were all college students, she offered to meet our parents on the day we moved in to answer any questions and let them know that we’d be safe there. Amy also thoughtfully connected us with her nephew who was staying nearby, and it was so nice to make a friend in the area. Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough. My roommates and I all agree that our best semester in college was spent at Amy’s home. We are jealous of anyone who stays here next!

Beautifully Preserved Historical Home
As Massachusetts residents, we were looking for an in state vacation home to spend some quality family time together before our youngest son went off to college. This home, which I believe was once an inn, more than met our expectations! The rooms are comfortably furnished and we felt more like we were at home rather than renting a "vacation house". All kinds of nooks in which to curl up with a good book or have a good conversation. Beautiful covered porch with comfortable patio chairs where you can listen to soft falling rain without getting wet. Gas grill to barbecue dinner and outdoor patio for dining as the sun goes down. Large dining table where we ate breakfast and played "Sorry" in the evenings - my older son always wins! The kitchen and walk in pantry were so well equipped we could have made a Thanksgiving dinner for 12! Finally the beds (and there are 5 bedrooms) were very comfortable each with it's own window AC. The boys played basketball in the yard and walked over to the lake to swim in the evenings and we watched deer (a doe and fawn) in the mornings. We have stayed at many VRBO properties in several different countries and this was one of the very best and most restful places we have ever been. At the same time if you want to venture out it is ideally situated for many of the hikes and attractions the Berkshires has to offer. We would definitely like to come back. Hopefully when the world is more "normal" my brother and cousins will be able to visit from England. Thank you Amy for a memorable holiday.

Perfect for a Family Holiday
Amy's house is warm and welcoming and has the charm of an older Victorian. Amy has thought of everything, and we couldn't be happier with our stay. Beds are super comfortable, and sheets extra soft. Thank you so much, Amy!

Amazing grounds, home, and location
My family had a wonderful stay at Amy’s lovely home. The house is well cared for, very clean and had all the necessary items from linens, to cooking utensils, dishes, picnic gear. You will truly find peace here!
Amy was very responsive from pre-booking and during our stay. She was also very easy to work with. We were traveling with my two year old daughter and Amy suggested any baby items such as high chair and pack and play, even a small toddler bike, she had and set them for us prior to arrival to really make us feel welcome.
The house a 5 minute drive to main st in great Barrington, with modern conveniences, but the seclusion of the beautiful grounds made for a real oasis of peace. Wildlife such as fox, deer and many birds were a treat. The wraparound screened in porch was one of my favorite destinations on the property.
Thank you Amy for a true retreat.
