About this cottage rental

This stunning property has been lovingly recreated and rebuilt from scratch to the exact architectural specifications of the 19th century house once at this site. The new cottage encompasses the quaint look, high stud and roominess of the old, but also incorporates the insulation, modern outfitting and comfort of the new.

From the moment you drive your car behind the drive's unique electric gates you enter a safe haven in the city. Before you the light, airy Zen garden designed by the owner and actioned by the master landscaper Lindsay Philps from GoFar Landscaping Company. Pause at this unique, private vista knowing it is yours to enjoy for the duration of your stay.

Once inside the house, explore the 2 generous bedrooms, living area, well-appointed galley kitchen and the "has it all" bathroom. Double-glazed sash windows, ceiling roses and ornate fire-surrounds create a sense of atmosphere harking back to a less stressful era. This attention to detail is, these days, somehow absent in most modern spec homes. Built to last, built to impress, built for safety.

This regenerating area of Christchurch is close to everything. You can start every day with a quick walk to Little Poms cafe for a wonderful breakfast and brunch and later meander down to the famous Pomeroys Public bar and restaurant. Or, by car, continue along Kilmore Street and within two or three minutes you are in the exciting Casino precinct with its Victoria Street dining and bars.
Once you have finished with your evening's activities retire to Fitzgerald Cottage, pop some of your favourite music on through the bluetooth-able sound system and relax in the warmth and comfort of your Christchurch haven.

This is our third time staying in this house. We absolutely love it. It is super comfortable, private and clean. There are so many excellent finishing touches around the house that make it feel very luxurious. Communication with Danielle has always been seamless. The location is fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to others and have done so several times! Looking forward to our next stay! Thank you. 😊

It was comfortable with many things. However, the kitchen did not have running water and one room was not heated. Also, the towels were very smelly.

A fabulous old house that has been renovated to perfection. Under floor heating in Kitchen and bathroom was fantastic. Very quaint and we would stay again.

The house is gorgeous and warm as toast on a very cold Christchurch weekend. If we had not had to sleep there I would give it 5 stars but the noise from the busy road was relentless until the middle of the night both nights (we were there Fri & Sat so maybe it would be less noisy during the week.) And the main bed needs a more comfortable mattress or topper and new pillows-everything in the house was so comfortable (the underfloor heating, the bathroom, the beautiful carpet) it's a pity the bedding let it down.

My daughter and I stayed 3 nights in this lovely home. The property was immaculate. The host was so kind and very communicative. I wish it had been warm so that we could have sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful garden. We had a rental car and there is private (gated) off road parking which was very nice. The bedding was beautiful and beds were very comfortable.

We spent two nights in this excellent two bedroom cottage 15 minutes walk from Chch CBD. The cottage is spacious with separate dining and lounge areas which were very warm and comfortablewith elegant decor. The bedrooms were also spacious and comfortable. The well equipped galley kitchen provided everything we needed to self cater. Danielle is a very professional host and her communication about the property was timely and comprehensive. As with Danielle’s other property near Akaroa (Maison du Campagne in French Farm), at which we also stayed, we cannot fault this excellent accommodation and will happily stay here again when we are next in Chch. We have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to anyone seeking quality accommodationnear the CBD

Fitzgerald Cottage was quite comfortable, and provided everything we needed during our stay. The only difficulty was figuring out how to run the dishwasher. The garden in the back had many trees and birds, and felt very peaceful.

The house and garden have been done nice. The main issue is the strong smell of cat urine that hits you as you enter the property. It is especially strong at the back door and deck area.

Danielle’s beautifully appointed cottage is the ideal place to stay in Christchurch. The cottage facilities are excellent and there are some lovely added touches to make guests feel at home. The garden is beautiful and the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The property is very close to the city and a stone’s throw away from the delightful Pom’s Cafe. Highly recommended!

Charming house and good kitchen. Zen garden in the back and secure fencing along the front of the property. Off street parking a plus on a busy one way street. Walkable to pathway along the Avon river.

We really enjoyed our stay in this unique and beautifully decorated house, which is very conveniently located in relation to Christchurch CBD. The off street parking was a real bonus for us. The house is very well appointed, with all the mod cons you could need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

An amazing experience, what a beautiful home, so much detail put into every room. The garden was fabulous with lots of hidden corners to sit in. Very relaxing to listen to the water feature and the outdoor chess set completed the grounds. A beautiful place to seat out in the evening. The secured off street parking was an extra bonus.

It is a lovely property in a good location with a bus stop outside, off-street parking and easy access to Christchurch amenities. My Wife and I stayed here with our two children (10 and 2) in September 2023. A cot bed and high chair were provided. The property was clean, with a well-equipped kitchen. I would recommend the house for anyone considering visiting Christchurch. If staying with young children, just be aware there are a lot of ornaments in the house, so we were constantly on our guard to ensure our two-year-old didn't touch or break anything.

What a lovely place!! It was so lovely, surprised by the amazing backyard and garden chess in the backyard. The beds were so comfortable, we loved the decor and THE SHOWER…incredible water pressure. Thank you for the amazing stay and all the little touches that made a difference. Super easy communication and entry/exit.

Classy,secure,cosy,warm,convenient,all around excellent and will recommend to everyone! I even taught our son to play chess, on the outdoor set. My only observation was, that the head of the white Queen is loose!!!!!Thank you very much.

Beautifully presented home with lovely touches. Underfloor and gas fire heating, electric blankets. Easy to forget it was winter outside. Beds were very comfy. Handy to town (approx 5min drive) Everything you could possibly want in a home away from home. Will definitely be back.
