Our GARDEN room, with off street parking, is cozy and private, and is in the middle of all the famous attractions that draw people to Newport. You are within walking distance to the beautifully landscaped MANSIONS along BELLEVUE AVENUE. The unmatched beauty of our CLIFF WALK (just 7 minute walk from the house) and our 10 MILE OCEAN DRIVE is breath-taking! Just down the street is a small private beach (also 7 minutes from the house) available to walkers, swimmers and sun bathers. We have always loved Newport and have found it amazingly beautiful, relaxing and exciting. Newport was listed on ABC GOOD MORNING AMERICA as one of the 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN AMERICA. This is a great location - within short walking distance for visiting Breakers and other Newport mansions and Cliff Walk. It is a short drive to the downtown wharf area. Nice quiet neighborhood. The host Lou was very friendly and responsive. We found the VRBO listing to be vey accurate.

From the time we checked in until we checked out, we enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean, the bed comfortable, and the shower hot. Lou, our very responsive host, asked us to let him know if we needed anything. However, everything we needed was already provided. We enjoyed several of his friendly recommendations. This place is perfect for a couple; and, we highly recommend booking. If we are ever in Newport again, we would book this garden apartment without hesitation.

The property is 1 block off of Bellevue where all of the mansions are! We are so glad that we stayed here as opposed to downtown because we could walk everywhere and there was a lot of traffic due to Labor Day Weekend. This rental was well equipped for the two of us and was very comfortable! Lou was fantastic (friendly and had good advice)! We highly recommend and we will be back!

Our stay in Newport, Rhode Island was delightful. The cottage has every amenity a guest could ask for and is immaculate. The location is perfect for walking to the beach and the amazing Cliff Walk that hugs the coastline.
The cottage is close to the vibrant downtown area, and beautiful state parks for hiking. This was our first visit to Rhode Island and we loved the climate, people, and diverse options as first-time visitors. We would rent the Newport Getaway cottage again. It is a hidden gem.

The location was absolutely perfect. It's a small but very accommodating renovated garage behind the owner's property, which makes communication very good if ever you need anything. It is a short walk from the beach and a short drive from the busy streets on the wharf and near Thames. Lou, the owner, is very hospitable and does everything he can to make sure you enjoy your stay. On day one, he called and sent tips for around the area, like food and attractions. We were able to meet him and talk to get to know each other, and he is a very kind and welcoming man. I definitely recommend!

We were in Newport to celebrate our wedding anniversary and this great cottage was just what the doctor prescribed! Lou welcomed us with a bottle of wine in the cozy kitchen. The property was perfect for two and had everything to make a getaway memorable. It’s tastefully decorated and equipped with with new amenities. The property is on a quiet street and a short walking distance from a beach, the cliff walks, mansions, and all the other attractions of the city.
If there’s one little snag for this very satisfied guest, it’s the skylight in the bedroom. At night, it’s great to see the sky from the bed; but in the morning, if you don’t have a sleep mask on, you may have to rise with the sun. 😃

Cute place near the southern part of the Cliff Walk. It is a mile or so from the wharf and restaurants & we did lots of walking, but if you aren't up for lots of walking, then you need a car, or can do lyft. The kitchen has everything you need for coffee, or to cook/reheat food. The bedroom and bath are up stairs, which was fine with us. Everything was clean and comfortable with everything wet needed for a few days.
The host Lou was good at communicating, and checking in.

This was our first visit to Newport, R.I. and only about the second time we decided to stay in a vacation rental property using VRBO. So, understandably we were a little apprehension. We could not have been happier or more pleased with every aspect of our stay at Almy Cottage! The property was clean, well-maintained and in an OUTSTANDING location, just a few minutes walking distance to the Cliff Walk and all of the must-see sights in Newport. The owner, Lou, was extremely cordial, accommodating and obviously very interested in making sure all of our questions were answered and that we were comfortable. The property itself was exactly as described and worked out great for my wife and me. The kitchen area was compact and very functional and suited our needs for four nights very well. The upstairs living area was very comfortable and met our every need, as well. I believe one of the best recommendations that anyone can provide is simply that if they had something to do all over again they’d do the exact same thing. Well, thanks to Lou and his impeccably clean and comfortable property, we’d be staying at Almy Cottage again for our next trip to Newport!

We had an amazing 4 days stay in this great spot. It is right by the Marble House, beach, free summer shuttle and the cliff walk. It was also easy to bike to the festival. There is a full kitchen for coffee in the morning or to make a meal or warm up chowder in the evening. We highly recommend a stay here if you can get it.

Loved the stay! I was able to experience Newport as a local instead of as a tourist. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, but very close to the mansions on Bellevue Ave. and an easy several blocks to the start of the Cliff Walk, namely the more natural, rugged part of the walk. Harbor area and Washington Square not far. Lou was a friendly, generous, responsive, informative, and wonderful host. Kitchen was great, as were outdoor grill and picnic table. Sleeping and sitting area isn’t huge, but quite comfortable and enough. Newport is a very special place. I would happily stay here again. Thanks, Lou!

Lou was a great host and the check in process was super easy. The apartment was cozy and had everything you could need. The location is also fantastic. It wasn’t clear to me that this was an apartment above the garage (and not the pictured home) but it was still a great stay. There is also not a table or a desk so if you need to work remotely, I would just plan ahead and bring your own table. I would absolutely stay here again—it was perfect.

We booked this property on a last minute planned trip to Newport, RI. The cottage is absolutely perfect, clean, and the perfect location in Newport for all the attractions. We were within walking distance to the Cliff Walk, beaches, the mansions, near Ocean Drive to loop around the coastal viewing area. It is also so close to the wharf area and restaurants, Newport Winery, and Sachuest beach and wildlife area. The cottage is quaint and the owners were very kind and helpful on things to do. We hope to visit again soon!
