Spain, California and Arizona is where we 3 arrived from to visit our old stomping grounds. What a delightful stay we enjoyed on Steele Lake. This little hideaway is centrally located to all the beautiful people, places and things we had in mind. Wonderful Host as well. ⭐️ Beautiful views and grounds too🤩

The view was wonderful. Breakfast on the deck/time on the dock/use of paddleboat and kayak were great! The house was fully stocked w everything we needed. There is one portable AC unit which kept most of it cool, but was a bit hot in the bedrooms at night. Very helpful ghosts. cool

We were so pleased how CLEAN the place was. The fragrance was a little too strong but we appreciated the cleanliness. The porch and dock could use some maintenance or replaced eventually but everything else was perfect

We picked this property because of the peaceful pictures. We had a stressful weekend ahead and were looking for a little retreat. The views didn't disappoint and the owner was a delight to work with. The property had a few issues but overall worked well for our needs.

The home was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The location is beautiful and feels private while still being near shopping and entertainment. We were here for a swim meet at the Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center and the house was a nice short drive away.

When you look for a place to unwind, clear your head and rejuvenate this is the exact place you need to be. The home can be used for both families and individual travellers with is perfect flexibility.
Kathy was super friendly and always communicating to ensure I was comfortable during the entire stay. She is such a warm soul and a joy to be around.
The place is clean and offers a lot of privacy for those seeking a getaway. There were also some outdoor activity options that one can indulge in.
I have definitely found a gem that I can call home for many more visits to come.
I would highly recommend it without doubt.

I’ve been fortunate and have done a lot of traveling in the past 20 years. This is an amazing hideaway with lots of parking and easy access to shopping. Plus it’s absolutely as beautiful as the picture I couldn’t be happier. My host was wonderful and checked up on us to make sure things were good. Thank you, Kathy! I hope to stay again soon.

I was thrilled to find a location close to my sister’s house. It was a perfect size for the two of us. Making meals didn’t require buying extra of anything because it was so well stocked with ingredients (mustard, olive oil etc.). The view of the lake was just as pictured.
This may be my home away for next year when I visit.

The owner (Kathy) was super responsive when we had any questions. Had almost ever thing we needed for supplies, kitchen, linens and bathroom. It was a great home base for our Seattle/Tacoma Vacation.
The only complaints I have is the lake on our side isn't swimmable (very weedy and muddy). However drive 5 minutes or use the provided pedal boat or kayak and get to a nice swim area with a giant playground.
The master bed was not very comfortable. The twin beds and the couches were better.

The house was very comfortable and worked perfect for our visit with the grandkids
It was very enjoyable
The paddle boat was not working and that was a little disappointing
Kathy was very easy to work with and nice as can be

Nice little place on Steel Lake. House has everything you need. Nice little property located close to shops and restaurants. We had an early flight and the owner was kind enough to allow us an early check in.

Kathy & I spoke by phone before I booked her Vrbo. I told her it was my 79th birthday gift to myself & that I wanted to walk out of the house & into the lake numerous times a day.
A photo shows a nice set of stone steps going from the house to the beach. There were no steps. There was a long & fairly steep cement ramp with a rickety rail. When I got to the bottom of the ramp there was a rock & a cement block piled together. I moved each to keep my balance.
Getting into the lake was horrid. Luckily, I brought swim shoes. I walked to the dock so I would have something to hang onto. I walked in muck over my knees to get into deeper water. I would never have rented the house had I known how difficult it was to get in the lake.
No beach towels.
All the plants & lawn were dead & dry as a bone. Not like photos.
The bedrooms were terribly noisy from road traffic. I rented the house from Tuesday & out Saturday. I swam Tuesday, left & went back Friday to get my swimsuit, beach towel etc. No cleaning needed except perhaps sweep the floor.
I wrote Kathy & explained my complaints & asked her not to respond & she didn’t. In every negative review no problem was ever her fault.
I literally threw $1,500.00 in the garbage. My decision but because the difficulty getting in & out of the lake. I was there less than three hours total.
Stay at the Comfort Inn where there is a pool & go to Steel Lake Park. It is a piece of cake to get in the lake.

Excellent location. View perfect. Very clean. Good communication with owner.
Should be warning for toilet in cubby for those larger than average. Investment for beds would make for more comfortable stay. Faucets need attention, loose. Walkway to dock was broken as were paddle boats.

We had a great stay in Federal Way! The home is clean and simple. It was the perfect amount of space for our family of four. We were able to drive to all the national parks in Washington as well as enjoy sightseeing in the city.

The house and location is very nice. I asked before making a reservation on comfort of beds since I didn’t see anything on beds in any reviews. The beds are very hard and squeaky. This might be comfortable to the owner but for our family we are not used to hard beds. We slept on the futon’s as they was more comfortable than the beds.

I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but I’m glad I continued as this house is a little hidden gem. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on the lake with beautiful views out the back.
Pros - location is close to travel corridor & nightlife but far enough that you don’t notice. Easy to get in and out of. Home has everything you’ll need including lake access.
Cons - for us bigger folks, the toilet in the bathroom is a TIGHT squeeze. The No Visitors day or night kinda defeats the purpose of getting a house, even if you just want to entertain outside. Luckily my family had a house nearby. That kind of info needs to be included in the listing and not as an afterthought before you arrive.

Prompt, friendly communication with the host. The house was clean and well furnished. The lake setting is beautiful.

This was the wordt experience ive had. The host was rude and made us feel unwelcomed. Initaly we had a family emergency and she eouldnt revund any portion or even try to put back as available to see if it hot rebooked . Then when we arrifed the place was dusty and way smallervthan it looks in the phots. She has cameras everywhere so you feel like shes watching your every move. i asked if it was okay to have my sister her husband and toddler over so we could enjoy the lake and she wanted to charge me $15 dollars a person and then changed her mind as said for us to go to a park because $15 a person doesnt cover the cost incurred at the property for more people? Never again, we chose to not stay and lost the money

This is the second time that I have stayed in Kathy's properties. On both occasions, the communication was great and the propertiies were just as advertised. The property was clean, organized and there were ample supplies to cook (including spices and other food essentials). The stay was just what was needed and I appreciate the prompt response and communication. If you are interested in having a peaceful stay with great views, I highly recommend this property.

We loved staying at Home sweet home! Kathy is an amazing host! This is the perfect little house on a beautiful lake. Very close to everything but you feel like you’re far away from the city.
We’ll be back!

Having a comfortable place to relax and unwind was exactly what we needed. The lake was gorgeous and we loved boating on the water to get to the park. Really cute and cozy vacation house.

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful lake property. 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boats on site so easy to go play on the lake. Price was reasonable and Kathy the owner was easy to reach with any questions. Would definitely stay again.

We chose this home for a holiday weekend hoping to be in driving distance to both Tacoma and Seattle.
on the positive:
- It was lovely to have the water nearby, especially with access to the kayaks and paddleboat.
- The location was driving distance to everywhere.
- The few times we watched TV there is an extensive cable package.
- Was very clean.
- Lots of parking
- The owners left us flowers which was a nice touch.
On the negative (not a five because):
- It is close to a relatively busy street. Not necessarily at night, but it certainly busy and loud during commute hours.
- While this property is listed for children (playground nearby, "family" tag, etc) it did not have plastic silverware, cups, a pack and play, high chair, etc. (the owner did let us know ahead of time when we booked there was no pack and play). there were some kids toys (and we were only really in the house for meals), but it certainly would have changed the way we packed. Older children (6-18) probably would be fine.
- There was a lack of extras - no extra blankets, no extra pillows, no soap for the washer, only a small broken ice cube tray. They did have some shelf stable things in the kitchen (salt, pepper, fish sauce, etc).
- While it is not in the listing, there is a separate, daily charge for guests. We went out for our 13th anniversary and our family (aunt and uncle of kids) came over to babysit for 2.5 hours. The kids were asleep and they sat in the house and watched television. For this, if we didn't want to lose our security deposit, we had to pay $5 each (per day) it would have been $10 if they had stayed the night. This felt like a bit much for a house we were paying over $2000 for the week.
- A few things needed to be fixed (broken screen on the back door, gouge in the kitchen floor, a towel blocking a window where the air conditioner was attached).
- It didn't bother us, but there was no gate blocking the busy road. The owner told us it was a relatively safe neighborhood, and we had no reason to doubt her, but I could see people being uncomfortable.
All and all a great stay, and with a few minor fixes, a very nice place to stay.

Had a fantastic time unwinding at this home. Beautiful views. I am a larger shoulders gentleman so the toilet stall was interesting to use but still manageable. That’s truly was the only down side.

My friends and I had the best time on the lake! We went to a concert the first night of our stay and spent the rest of the time out on the water. We brought our own paddle boards and this lake was perfect

This was a great place to stay while our daughter was at soccer camp. It was a central location and the lake made it fun, as well as the park. The owner was amazing and great communication.

Kathy is an amazing host! Our family had a terrific week playing on the water. The house was pristine with cleanliness. Kathy even had fresh flowers on the table when we checked in. I couldn't have asked for a better host and place to stay and relax for vacation.

This is our 2nd time back at the property and we enjoyed our wonderful stay. The location is great and quiet. We spent most of the days on the dock fishing and enjoyed the bbq. The house is a perfect size for a small family and to have friends stop by. Kathy is amazing as usual and is very responsive. We will definitely be back! Loved our stay!
