About this cottage rental
This stunning oceanside cottage is located five minutes from the Cabot Trail on a 14-acre property and has been featured in Canadian House & Home and Victoria Magazines.
You’ll love the clean air and the sound of waves rolling in on the rocks below SeaSky. It's only two minutes to the beach itself. This architect-designed cottage is built on a bluff over the ocean and was designed to recall the best aspects of Maritime tradition, but to modernize them with an open-concept interior. It has a summer-y feeling, with a high ceiling, boarded walls and fresh white paint.
Sunsets will knock your socks off. This design is best suited for couples, or couples with one or two children. There's a large deck with a BBQ and amazing views. The ocean and beach views are breathtaking! As you relax at the cottage in the evening, you’ll be reassured by the steady cadence of the Margaree Island lighthouse.
For connecting with friends, streaming or surfing, you'll love having a fast, fibre-op connection, even though we are seemingly far from the hubbub. Or, dig into a good book on the comfy leather couch, while enjoying the view.
This cottage changes over on Fridays only. If your preferred weeks happen to be booked, please check our other lovely oceanside cottages: #4265347 #382569, #3490361 #277105 #2599594. This cottage normally books by the week, Fridays to Fridays when you are choosing your dates. (Although the cancellation policy lists "no refunds," there ARE refunds–it is just that our policy did not fall within VRBO's categories.)
The second-floor bed area offers two Queen beds on either side of the loft; this area is accessed by regular stairway with a landing. Although there's electric heat, there's also a sturdy wood stove which is great to have on a chilly Spring or Fall evening. For rainy days, there's a well-stocked library and games for the kids. The roomy deck outside offers a BBQ and incredible views of the ocean, beach, island and horizon. All on a gorgeous property with 3 large ponds and 2 spring-fed brooks. You'll have a tough time leaving the cottage!
SeaSky cottage is also close to the acclaimed new Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links golf courses by the sea, which are only 20 minutes away and offer a unique golfing experience in Inverness. The National Park is 30 minutes away, the Cabot Trail five minutes away.
Fishermen haul their lobster traps each year out in front of our cottage. Moose, eagles, deer and foxes are regulars. It's easy to meet people here, and the daily pace here is slower than in most cities. Cape Breton summers are warm-to-hot in the day, but perfect in the evening, and at the shore there are lovely ocean breezes.
Chimney Corner beach is one of the finest on the island, but because it is not visible from the road, it's usually unoccupied during the week. Cape Breton is a spectacular place, and you'll find the scenery on this stretch of coast particularly striking.
Other things to do:
There is no shortage of things to do in the area. The world-famous Cabot Trail is only 5 minutes away and offers some of the best scenery in Canada. Cape Breton Highlands National Park, with trails, look-offs and waterfalls, is 30 minutes away. In addition to Chimney Corner beach (2 minutes away), there are other great beaches to check out nearby: Whale Cove (3 minutes away), Margaree Harbour (6 minutes away), with its beach and two lighthouses. Cheticamp, about 25 minutes away, offers glimpses into Acadian culture.
South of us are the gorgeous rolling hills of Mabou, and the town of Inverness, which offer music, pubs and food; the acclaimed new Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs golf courses by the sea (20 minutes away). There are also renowned crafters in the area; interesting quilting, rug hooking, and folk-art can all be found locally.

Breathtaking views! Much privacy…relaxing and peaceful. Eagles seen every day! Seal came to visit us one day at the beach..so many wonderful memories at this cottage. Our host was ther to welcome us shortly after arriving, ensuring our safety during a really windy day of storming and to get us acquainted with the property and areas of interest on Cabot Trail

We had a fantastic time at Sea Sky. The location of the cottage was just as we wanted. It felt secluded but was still within an easy drive of stores/restaurants/park. The views are stunning, and we sat on the deck daily to enjoy them. The rest of the cottage was just as advertised, clean, and cozy. For stargazers, the night sky is very dark, and I was able to take some great photos of the Milky Way stretching over the cottage.

Everything was perfect. Our host Stewart was wonderful to talk to and communicate with. He had great ideas for activities and eating places all marked on local maps. The house was breathtaking as were the views. An ever changing landscape that filled our senses. We’ve never had such an amazing stay . Thank you Stewart

We totally enjoyed our stay at Seascape. The sunsets were spectacular. Stewart is the ultimate host- he provided very thorough information when we booked the cottage. When we arrived, he gave us great ideas to explore the area. The cottage is decorated with different pieces of art, which was fun to explore. Shower and heated bathroom floor were a nice bonus. We had a wonderful afternoon at Red Shoe Pub, listening to fiddle and bagpipe music. Loved West Mabou Harbor beach and the boardwalk at Inverness Beach. We took a boat to Bird Island and saw seals, puffins, and eagles. On Wednesdays, Normaway Inn has music in the barn. Spent a nice evening with dinner and show (fiddle and piano). Also went on the cabot trail to white point and saw a play at Baddeck Theatre. Very relaxing and fun week. You will enjoy your time here!

Seasky cottage is a dream. Set on a cliff overlooking Chimney Corner Beach, it has by far the most breathtaking view we’ve experienced as longtime vrbo renters. My husband and I joked that even doing our dishes was a treat because of the seascape visible through the window. The cottage itself is elegantly designed and decorated and offered every comfort and practical item we needed. We enjoyed cooking several meals in the well-appointed kitchen area. The gorgeous deck gave us front row seats for seal spotting, bird watching and an ever changing sky including otherworldly sunsets. I’m so glad I packed my watercolors. The bedroom loft with skylights brought peaceful sleeps and cheery mornings. Reading, listening to music, playing games and planning our adventures were all a pleasure in this living space.
The location was ideal. We had the privacy and serenity we were hoping for but were just a stone’s throw away from a number of beautiful beaches, the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the Ceilidh Trail, Margaree River Valley, Mabou Mines Trails and more. It was the perfect nest from which to explore the richness and magic of Cape Breton.
Our stay was so rewarding in large part because of our hosts. Stewart gave us an orientation to the region and generously offered his recommendations. We headed down roads and trails, opened doors and met good folks we may never have encountered without his prompting. It was an unforgettable holiday!

We stayed in SeaSky cottage for the past week and it was a wonderful experience. The cottage felt modern and rustic at the same time, with lovely art/decor and all the tools in the kitchen for at home meals if one wishes. Stewart and his wife have created a little paradise, with keen attention to detail, a generosity in welcoming and offering lots of ideas for itineraries all over Cape Breton. We heard over 20 different species of birds one morning (thanks Merlin) and a couple of mornings saw fin whales right in front of the cottage. And the view! The sunsets! We hope to come back sometime! Loved it!

SeaSky cottage is phenomenal! It was the perfect jumping off spot for hiking in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and for sightseeing on the Cabot Trail outside the park.
Although hiking was the reason for our Cape Breton adventure, we could easily have stayed at the cottage all day - reading on the deck, watching the lobster boats, birdwatching, and taking a short walk to the nearby beach.
Stewart is a fantastic host. He provided loads of suggestions for adventures, food, and entertainment. It is clear that he loves Cape Breton and wants to share his enthusiasm with all.
We could not have asked for a better first time visit to Cape Breton and will definitely return to SeaSky cottage!

The property is ideally located for exploring all of Cape Breton. Our week-long stay was filled with hikes and drives around the Cabot Trail, visits to local fishing villages, and trips out to Sydney, Glace Bay (highly recommend the mining museum tour), Louisbourg, the Bras d'Or lake region (especially Baddeck and a boat tour out to the bird islands), Inverness, and Mabou (try a bike ride on the trails there), and much more! The highlight was the in-depth information and recommendations about trails, restaurants, and more made by Stewart on the day we arrived - it led us off the beaten track to some wonderful trails and great food, with the added benefit of meeting some amazing locals. In fact, we brought home the much used map of the region that he kindly gave us with all his recommendations as a souvenir of the trip. This was an incredibly relaxing, adventurous, and rejuvenating vacation for us and we highly recommend the property and location.

This is a place to sit in peace on the edge of cliff overlooking some of the best scenery on the island. If you're looking for a stay on the edge of the world, this is a great candidate.

Where to begin describing how absolutely fantastic our trip to Cape Breton and Seasky cottage was… From our initial contact with Stewart (the owner) to our arrival and his meeting us with helpful suggestions of things to see and do, everything was perfect. The cottage was clean, cozy, peaceful and the views simply unmatched, especially sunsets on the deck with a glass of wine. A couple of the mornings we saw pods of whales swimming by while having coffee. The cottage is so simply yet tastefully decorated! Everything you need is there!
We explored different parts of Cape Breton every day and were awed by the beauty of the island and friendliness of the local residents. We hiked in the National Park (White Pt. a must), golfed, beached a day, visited a few museums, the Glenora distillery and a few breweries. We ate at several of Stewart’s recommendations, Dancing Goat a must! We attended a Ceilidh in Baddeck and enjoyed the local music we heard in a few of the pubs.
We hope to return to Cape Breton again in the future, perhaps for one of the festival s and would absolutely stay at Seasky again!!

I cannot begin to describe how truly amazing our vacation was on Cape Breton Island. First, our hosts Stewart and Bell were so gracious and accommodating. Stewart spent over an hour with us going over the many exciting things to do in the area and made dining recommendations that were spot on. It was a very peaceful and relaxing escape for us. There were so many enjoyable aspects of our time here. We would have to include the views from the deck of the cottage as one of the truly memorable parts of the trip. Each night the sunsets were amazing. We very much appreciated the tranquility of the location. The hiking, the beaches and friendly local residents all added to the enjoyment of the trip. This is a rare find and I would happily return any time. I highly recommend this property.

Wow, what a beautiful spot. Such a breath-taking view and relaxing spot. The cottage is fantastic. It has everything you need. Comfortable beds, great style and the kitchen has everything you need if your are making meals at home. Stewart was so helpful, he had wonderful tips and suggestions that we wouldn't have figured out on our own. We had a lot of privacy, and Stewart was available by email if we ever had any questions. I would highly recommend this spot.

The cottage was amazing , beyond our expectations.
Stewart was exceptional with everything especially guiding us to places to see, with maps and directions.
It was an epic vacation, even the weather gave us a taste of almost every type, a true representation of Cape Breton.

Amazing week on Cape Breton! Seasky Cottage was the perfect place to stay to explore the area. Stewart gave us wonderful recommendations for hiking, eating and music. My only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to check them all off. The cottage was just as pictured, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We appreciated the cd’s, books and games for the evening hours after the sunsets were over. The views from the deck and living room were spectacular. Don’t miss the authentic entertainment in the Barn after a dinner at the Normaway Inn in Margaree. We loved the the hike at White Point to the Mariners Cemetery and beyond. If you
Enjoy hiking, don’t miss the Skyline hike in the park. Be sure and pick up cooked lobster at the Seafood Stop in Cheticamp. We didn’t get a chance to go to the Red Shoe for supper and music, but we are already planning our next trip.

A cozy architectural wonder of charming g decoration facing that vast expanse of ocean called the Gulf of St. Lawerence, where bald headed eagles made eye contact flying past the kitchen in the morning and sunsets worthy of Van Gogh’s brush ended every day. This property and its owners are class personified.

Stayed for a week in July. Sunsets, from an unencumbered view, provided nightly entertainment and our most cherished memories. The cottage is pretty much as advertised - cute, clean, well-stocked, great front deck. Owner Stewart joined us for a drink on the deck on our arrival and generously spent time providing recommendations and marking up a map for us. Didn't realize his property was right behind us as angle of the photos and drone footage don't reveal that, however, our space was respected and the cottage is situated facing out to the water (and the parking is in separate spot too) so it maintains a sense of privacy. We were 2 people and cottage was perfect size; not sure would work for a family or more than one couple as both beds are in the open concept loft (which means noise downstairs travels to the upstairs if your sleep schedules are not aligned) and the stairs themselves could be tricky for little ones or older folk. Beds themselves were okay - a little low and mattress was not super supportive. Would have also loved an extra reading light in the living room once the sunset show called it a night. But these are just quibbles for a place to which we'd most definitely want to return if Toronto was but closer! As for the cottage locale - nice midway spot between Mabou and the national park. The local beach was usually empty (except for jellies!); we preferred the beach at Inverness but still was nice to be able to look through the window over at the local beach while washing dishes! Stewart's recommendations for things to do held up, including delicious kimchi grilled cheese sandwiches from Brook Village Grocery. Was difficult to find fresh fish in grocery stores oddly enough (though finally got some delicious takeout pre-cooked lobster from The Seafood Stop) and I would recommend visitors bring any favourite food stuffs with them as the local stores have limited offerings. But overall, a fantastic getaway.

Wonderful experience. Breathtakingly beautiful. Just what the doctor ordered. For landlubbers like us it was a dream come true - seaside cottage on a cliff overlooking Chimney Corner beach and the deep blue sea. Great hiking all around. Sterwart steered us to spectacular sights and sounds. Red Shoe Pub in Mabou a hit food wise. Can’t wait to return.

Exceptional property and host
We thoroughly enjoyed our (too short) weeklong stay at Seasky cottage. It provided exactly what we needed for our vacation. It had all the amenities one would need in a property. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and welcoming, and provided lots of restful peace and quiet.
There were beautiful sunsets and sunrises over the ocean with a lovely beach near by. We watched the fisherman haul in the lobster traps and reset them each morning, and watched a pair of eagles on the cliff near the beach.
Stewart was a wonderful host, friendly and very knowledgeable - providing great insight into unique hikes, sight seeing and restaurants. The cottage is located in a great location for getting to many sites on Caper Breton including Cape Breton National Park, Baddeck (lobster supper), and so forth. We enjoyed the recommended White Point hiking trail that leads to the unknown sailor memorial site. A nearby café/restaurant not to miss for breakfast and/or lunch is the Dancing Goat in Margaree Forks.
We were sorry to leave but intend to return in the future. We highly recommend staying at Seasky or the other of Stewart’s nearby cottages. You could not ask for a better property or host.

We had a spectacular stay here. The cottage is charming, well appointed and the view captivating. Stewart was most helpful in sharing maps, suggestions and checking in to ensure our holiday was going smoothly. Don’t miss out on this restful, peaceful treasure of a cottage.

An amazing vacation! The property was beautiful. We truly felt welcomed. Peaceful and relaxing!
The property was spectacular. The sky was endless. Perfect for sunsets and stargazing. Stewart was so kind and helpful. He dedicated his time informing us of all there is to do in the area. Due to his guidance and effort we experienced far more than we could image. As a result our vacation was amazing. I would highly recommend this property and I hope to return someday!

A Slice of Heaven on Cape Breton Island
We cannot say enough about our stay at SeaSky cottage. The cottage itself is a beautiful space - so very well designed, comfortable and fitting perfectly into its surroundings. And the view is beyond description - absolutely stunning. One of the best we have seen on an island with so many fantastic views. We saw bald eagles daily, seals and a pod of pilot whales – right from the cottage! We were able to see a glimpse of the other cottages and they looked equally nice - it is a beautiful and very well maintained property. Stewart himself was so friendly - meeting us soon after arrival and giving us some really good tips on how to enjoy our stay on Cape Breton Island (We followed most of them-they were great tips!). We highly recommend SeaSky cottages. Shannon & Peter 2021

I would recommend this property to anyone looking to be pampered by nature! It is GORGEOUS. WE LOVED IT. ❤️❤️❤️

This property provided more than what we were looking for: comfort, tranquility and some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. The peaceful ocean views can be enjoyed from the beautiful deck or from the open-concept interior by the warm wood-burning stove. After visiting part of Cape Breton Island during our short stay, I still believe this cottage is set on one of the most beautiful properties. It is equipped with everything you could need and is immaculate. The owners are welcoming and provided us with great suggestions for local eats and adventures. A stay at SeaSky is sure to be memorable, and I will visit again if life takes me back on a trip to to Cape Breton Island, no matter how long the stay may be!

We had a fabulous vacation experience - even with hurricane winds! Stewart was a great host and we took many of his recommendations including beautiful hikes, fun restaurants and the incredible music at Normaway Inn! Fantastic find
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Seaside Cottage. The house itself was comfortable, clean and cozy. We loved the open shower with bathroom heated floors. We enjoyed viewing the artwork in the house and appreciated the info on each piece that was included in a very thorough visitor welcome guide which was incredibly handy.
When we arrived, Stewart, the cottage owner, was genuinely interested in helping us to make the trip an enjoyable one. He shared many awesome tips with us based on what we liked to do. He gave some great restaurant recommendations too. He also provided extra wood and candles, due to the fact that hurricane Dorian had recently visited and blew out electricity. Although power was restored, there was still the possibility of outages. We lost it for a short period of time, less than 15 mins.
The beds were comfy. The windows provided amazing views of the ocean and rocks which 2 eagles frequented. Stewart was kind enough to lend us his telescope so we could see them beautifully. The gorgeous beach was a quick 2 min drive.
We are grateful that we found this rental and would love to return to this gem again. Thank you Stewart and Bell.

2 weeks of sun and sea
SeaSky is more beautiful and peaceful than the pictures can show. Stewart met us soon after we arrived and we talked for an hour about all the wonderful places and venues around our area of Cape Breton. His suggestions and input were very helpful as we traveled around the island.
The cottage was so comfortable from the beds in the loft area to everything we needed in the kitchen. And the views of the cove and beach and the sunsets each evening from the deck are spectacular. Such a special place as eagles fly by on the breeze in the peace and quite of this incredible property.

Perfection on all levels
I stayed with my spouse and son in Seasky just last week. We could not have had a better experience. We have used HomeAway for properties in Guatemala and Florida and now Cape Breton. This has been by far our best experience. Stewart came to the house the day of check in. He gave us flexibility to choose a time that would be convenient for us to cover the basics of the house. He also wanted to share as much about the area as we felt we needed. He was very kind, personable and informative. After that, he let us enjoy the week with complete privacy, yet he gave us his contact info in case we needed him. We did not need him because the cottage was perfect! We could not have asked for a better accommodation or location to tour Cape Breton. It’s location between Inverness and Cheticamp made it very close to everything we might need. The proximity to the Park was just right. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable and had such great character. The view! Every window looked as though you were looking at a framed painting on the wall. Incredible - especially the sunsets. We saw eagles fly by the home on many occasions as well. We will definitely be returning to Cape Breton - when we do, we will certainly be trying to stay at Seasky. If they do not have availability, we will inquire about his other properties as his attention to personal detail was perfect. Do yourself a favor and utilize Stewart’s info about the island. I had researched much to do, but he was able to help narrow and navigate the scope to get the best out of our stay - he was spot on. Also, stop by Cape Breton Clay. Bell (Stewart’s Wife) is a Potter and does beautiful work. We were able to have a few pieces shipped home and we look forward to receiving them. I cannot express the magic of Cape Breton. After driving 1650 miles around Nova Scotia, I can honestly say I do not think we could have picked a better location or cottage. The vacation was easlily one of our best. It was very, very special and Cape Breton has taken a piece of our heart. Seasky was a big part of our that connection. Thank you Stewart and Bell for making your property available to people like us to truly experience Cape Breton at its best. Cheers!

It's as Spectacular as You Think It's Going to Be
Our second stay at SeaSky Cottage was as good as it gets. The views from the deck are endless and the sunsets picture perfect. During the days we saw a half dozen pilot whales swim by one morning, a pack of seals the next afternoon and then there's always the bald eagles standing watch out on the point. Inside, the house is surprisingly spacious. Cooking wise, it has almost everything you need, we basically just brought food and beverages which was super convenient. The loft makes if very easy to settle in and comfortably cook and enjoy the views. Location wise, the beach is just a minute away. Beyond swimming, we had a great time setting up a fire at night and enjoying the sunset turn into a sky of endless stars. As city folk it's a great place for us to get away from the grind and unwind, but the wireless allowed us to plug in and stay connected when need be. SeaSky is centrally located and is an easy ride to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park to the north and Inverness to the south.
This is our fifth year in Chimney Corner staying with Stewart and Bell. We've stayed at three of their other houses and they are all charming in their own ways but they are consistently comfortable, stylish and have amazing views. What really tops it off though are the hosts. They are friendly and considerate and really make sure you have a good time and get the most out of your stay. Even after coming all these years, Stewart stopped by with a few new ideas of places to visit or where was new to eat nearby.
We brought my in-laws with us for the first time this year (they stayed at TumbleSea - which was cool because we had our own spaces, but they were just a 100 yards away through a path in the trees). Stewart made sure he personalized their experience as newbies to the Cape and a little slower in their older age. We really appreciated it.
We will definitely be back for our sixth visit next year.

Idyllic setting
I could have happily sat on the deck watching the skyline, sunsets and stars all week. Though it was just as nice inside the cottage too - comfortable, cozy, clean and stylish. The beaches close by were also great.
