The host Irene needs to go on a customer service course, a very unhinged woman. Argumentative instead of accommodating. Overpriced chalet, which is essentially a shed with a bed,no hot water, Don't ask for an omelette Irene finds it a challenge.

The hostess was exceptionally friendly, helpful and hospitable. She gave us tips for scenic things to see in the area. The bed was comfortable and the house was cosy. The full Irish breakfast was delicious! The location was quiet.
The bathroom was quite tiny but everything worked quite well.

The breakfast was delicious and I loved getting to meet and chat with the other guests!

Irene was friendly and welcoming. (Thanks for letting us use the clothesline!) The home and surroundings are pleasant and our room was clean and comfortable.
She had helpful suggestions for places to go in the area.
We didn’t have enough hot water the first night but Marco listened and the problem was addressed.

Full cooked breakfast which was lovely which included home made bread which was delicious, home made little cakes as well as pastries. The location was fantastic as it was within easy walking distance of all the bars/restaurants/shops.
There was nothing at all that I could say was negative about the B & B.

Nice quaint location at top of the town, very friendly host and clean as a whistle. Good parking, easy to find.
Was a wee bit cramped, especially the en suite. Breakfast was good but not great, 7 outta 10.

The location was great and very close to the town.
The host was also very welcoming and provided us with lots of recommendations on activities/places to see nearby and also cooked us a lovely breakfast the following morning.

The bed was a little soft for our liking.

The breakfast was a full Irish breakfast with lovely homemade brown bread, very nice. The coffee was also very good. Irene is a lovely and kind lady who will help you with any need. She even offered to take us to the shops but it was close enough for us to walk.
The wifi didnt work as it was bank-holiday and Irene couldn’t get anyone to fix it.

The B&B was very centrally located for all the beautiful places we wanted to visit along the Wild Atlantic Way. The landlady, Irene, was very helpful and gave us lots of information to help us enjoy our stay & as a surprise, she also gave us lovely Easter treats too, she couldn’t have done more for us. We would highly recommend this B&B to others & we plan to return again in the future. This area in Donegal has so much to offer, fabulous waterfalls, beautiful beaches & amazing scenery! Thanks to Irene at Hill head House for making our stay with you so enjoyable! We will return.

Very comfortable, great location, very friendly host, excellent breakfasts and convenient parking. Thank you so much Irene for a wonderful stay!
Nothing! Everything was great.

Very clean and good location. Irene lovely.
The picture above of the lounge was not for guests use so very misleading. Tiny en-suite hard to sit on toilet. Small towels and difficult step down into room. Also Irene had a bad cold which we now have all got. Hoping it’s not covid. would have been happier if she had worn a mask as I am at risk. Didn’t go down for breakfast so had less contact but we still have all caught it.

Ardara is a lovely village and Hillhead House was a perfect place to stay after a day exploring Slieve League and then heading north toward Derry. Comfortable room, ample parking, 5 minute walk into town. Wonderful Irish hospitality.

The continental breakfast was extensive and delicious. The beds were very comfortable. The house was within easy reach of the amenities of the town and the locals were very friendly.
I hadn’t realised that my husband and I would have to share a bathroom with our friends. However, I understand that our rooms will have ensuite bathrooms next year. Although the continental breakfast was excellent, my husband was disappointed as he prefers a cooked breakfast.

Best soda bread we've had so far for breakfast. Fresh fruits and delicious homemade porridge.

A welcoming, friendly and hospitable hostess, Irene. Irene met us on arrival and gave us a clear guide to the accommodation and its facilities. Very good room, comfortable bed, tea and coffee available and good shower. Excellent continental breakfast with juices, choice of several cereals and porridge, assorted fruit, cold meats, cheeses and home made breads, coffee and tea. Very homely dining room /kitchen . Irene was a fantastic tourist ambassador for Donegal and recommended us to do the Boat trip to look at the Slieve Liag Cliffs. This was a wonderful experience for us. Irene was very helpful and made us feel at home. We spent 4 days with Irene in the Hillhead House and we really enjoyed our sty.
The Hillhead is wonderfully situated with the village a short walk away so restaurants, shops and pubs are nearby. The village itself has a wonderful feel with craft shops, nice coffeeshops and cafes and pub/restaurants serving good food. Nearby are the wonderful beaches at Narin/Portnoo and Maghera . The Village of Ardara is not far from Killybegs and Donegal town and is a good base from which to explore this nice part of south Donegal.
We had spent a few days in Ardara four years ago and we were happy to return for another visit. Having now discovered the Hillhead House , we will certainly be back again sometime in the future. We enjoyed our four days in Ardara and in the Hillhead House and we look forward to meeting Irene, our friendly hostess, who looked after all our needs while staying in the Hillhead!
This was an exceptional guesthouse/Bed and Breakfast in a charming village in south Donegal.

Irene gave us good tips for local restaurants and pubs, and also a scenic route down to Slieve League that is out of the common road but so worth the detour!

Irene is a great host, made sure we had everything we needed.
Lovely breakfast, spotless house in an ideal village location which is walking distance to the pubs and restaurants.
