Always a nice stay at the Mansfield, rooms are a good size, comfortable and always greeted with great service
Not a big fan of seeing screws keeping window stays in place so windows cannot be opened. Always nice to have some fresh air in the room.

We were upgraded to a bigger room upon arrival which was lovely, the service was friendly and the hotel was lovely and quiet. I actually managed to sleep which was great!

Very comfortable room. Very good choice at breakfast. Staff very helpful.
Room needs USB charging points.

Room ground floor and window locks broken on 2/3 windows so could be opened from outside. Raised with team. Delay for 1hr 20+ mins (by which time too late to find another hotel). End result unable to help. Team member who helped did all she could (wedged with teaspoons!) but senior management no follow-up as promised. Felt unsafe.
Made unsafe place to stay. No follow up as agreed the next day so further let down.

Great staff - really looked after us
Lovely old building

Its a quirky hotel is a beautiful setting and I had a lovely big room with a sofa and a huge TV
The thing that let it down was the breakfast - my party had a mixture of cooked breakfasts and continental. The porridge was made with water and awful and the cooked breakfast was not great either

The location was great for travelling around the Borders area.
The Amarone Thistle restaurant has an extensive menu with a really wide choice of dishes.
We received a very warm welcome from James on our arrival and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful during our stay. This is a very dog friendly hotel.

The hotel was very easy to find, and looked stunning from the outside. There was a table for me for dinner, and the food was amazing. Large portions and very good value for money.
My room was the budget double room, and it was nicer than some deluxe rooms I've stayed it.
Breakfast the next morning was included in the price, and again was excellent, it set me up for the day ahead.

I thought it was a great place to stay, the room(budget) was as good if not better than superior rooms I’ve stayed in.
If I was be really finicky they didn’t have a hand pulled beer

Traditional house hotel.

The secluded forest above the property
The coffee, to be honest. oh and our door broke and we needed to get staff to break the lock open.

Staff were amazing. So polite friendly and willing to help with everything.
Hotel grounds were very pretty. Food was nice enough although portions really weren't big enough. Maybe more choice for breakfast as well would have been great.
The bed on the tower room squeaks if you even breathe too hard. For the money we paid, I had 2 nights of zero sleep. The actual four posters of the bed looked ready to fall apart as well however the rest of the room was lovely.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and most helpful. The food was excellent both evening meal and breakfast. Definitely recommended.

Location of hotel was amazing and lovely. Breakfast was hot and very tasty, best produce of my trip both evening meal and breakfast. (I stayed in 5 hotels over a ten day period). Monetarily the evening meal was the best value of the hotels I stayed in. Staff (particularly Mathew) were mostly helpful cheerful and polite. Made me feel very welcome. Parking excellent. Comfortable bed. Well stocked bathroom and good tea tray (except biscuits which had been around a while!)
Room and bathroom doors both stuck so opening and closing was difficult. All power points on one side of room and these days the ones with inbuilt USB charging slots would be very useful here. Biscuits on tray (and I know best before is not the same as use by dates) were 5 months old! Room was very very hot. I opened the one window (of two) that opened in the bedroom. Asked for a fan and was informed none available as the other rooms had claimed all the available ones the day before, and they did not have sufficient for each room to have one. (The hotel has sixteen bedrooms!) At £125 per night, a fan should be available. Of the 5 hotels I stayed in over ten days, I would say this one was the least value for money. (They were all rated 4 star) This is only one person's opinion and you should make up your own mind, but for me, I struggled to see how this was comparable with the others, certainly as far as facilities and value was concerned.
