Lovely staff
A little dated in places

We didn’t stay as we were very unhappy with room
There was black mould on the ceiling and the wooden windows were rotten and falling apart

Looks great, fantastic rooms and breakfast, great bar, real character and hospitality.
Bit hard to find the first time you go

Very comfortable bedrooms, bar area, dining room excellent. Staff were so friendly and helpful but not in your face. Would hope to return. The food was excellent, even the dog had his own menu 😊
The bathroom could do with an upgrade

nothing, it was great

The staff were friendly, courteua and efficient. Breakfasts good. We cannot comment on dinners because we didn't dine at hotel. The service in the bar was also good.
Nothing of importance.

The views are amazing! Very cute and quite place.
For the price you pay, the breakfast wasn't great, the hotel is dated, we found our bed wasn't comfortable and if you book a room with a bath you may not get it. We had to swap rooms with another member of our party but still pay full price.

beautiful property and very good service. clean and tidy. restaurant was good.

Breakfast was great. Staff couldn’t do more for you - always chatty and made us feel very welcome. The views from the outside terrace are incredible.
The drinks in the bar are quite expensive- would be nice if there was a reduced rate for residents

I was looking for somewhere to stay at a reasonable cost for one night. This was perfect. Everything was great.

Lovely setting very warm and comfortable

Staff were really great. Dinner was ok, just what we wanted. Views were great.
The room lacked little things such as a towel rail and toilet paper holder in the bathroom. No shelf in the shower. Soap used on day one taken away next morning and not replaced. Breakfast was ok, once you found someone to bring it 15 minutes before it should have ended, but lacked eg ham and cheeses - even lacked bread once. Bed rather small. Asked if they have a lift - which they do - but they then gave us a room on the other side of the hotel so we couldn’t use it!

amazing view, authentic, friendly staff
no room even confirmed by booking, however they did their best to fix it. breakfast was so so, no or late refills, limited choices…

Breakfast was until 9am on weekend so too early for us.
Later breakfast

Lovely hotel with a lovely restaurant and the breakfast was amazing. Turned up and couldn't find booking on screen so after 10 mins they said sorry for the mix up and upgrade us to a lovely room for the same price. Very friendly staff.

Afraid to say can’t really think of anything positive to write
- Shabby (not in a good way) room - you could feel springs in bed and the room stank of cheap air spray (I noticed a can of air spray on the reception counter - not a good sign ) you had to be a contortionist to use the bathroom - when arriving for breakfast had to go into the kitchen to look for staff and no one around to check
out - I really hate leaving a negative review like this but standards are really not there.

lovely old building In beautiful surroundings. staff were all exceptionally friendly
Being an old property the. Windows didn’t fit properly and as the January weather was predictably bad there was a big draft in the room.

Lovely staff welcomed us over New Year. Breakfast was superb, location perfect for exploring the Brecon Beacons, lovely grounds and views from the room and access to Crickhowell. We came by foot and it was convenient and well equipped for hikers/walkers. Would definitely stay again!

Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Room was special. Peaceful location.
TV stopped working although didn't bother me too much.

Comfy room
Location
Evening meal very poor, not worth the money!!!
Could hear all next door neighbors due to lack of soundproofing

Lovely hotel from the outside, Room was nice and big, not clean enough though.
Dirty and dusty in the room and the food was a joke. It took an hour and 15 minutes for us to be served our dinner from ordering. When the dinner arrived it wasn’t what we expected for the price. The quality of the food was very low and we had to ask for a refund as it was that poor.

I’m in two minds as to wether to write this review. the girls who put a rose and some fizz in the room for our anniversary were great … everything else was pretty disappointing and the only reason I’m writing this is to ensure that future guests don’t get mislead by the photos .. it really shouldn’t be sporting 4 stars and the booking rating is misleading.
the decor was shabby ( not in a good way ) the carpets were dirty. the food was overpriced and poorly cooked .. the circulation areas and outside were dirty and worn out. the jacuzzi bath in our ‘ suite’ was a nightmare to operate and the bed had box springs … I’m not a technophobe but I really couldn’t get the tv to work and only half a bog roll and no spare is unacceptable. I suspect that at some point in the past this was a more amiable hotel but now frankly it’s like something out of a fawlty tower’s farce.

Lovely hotel nice and quiet, relaxing nice clean room. Breakfast had a great choice from fruit to full cooked welsh breakfast.
Not enough staff. No staff at reception booking in had to ask at the bar. Evening meal staff was very slow we found other people were more important than us did not offered a sweet after a long wait for our main course meals. Evening meal very expensive need more of a price range on meals.

Location was lovely
I upgraded to an Executive room, got a sub- standard, standard room. On arrival, the Receptionist could not find our booking, as someone had put my surname as my Christian name. The room (22) was on the top floor, no lift. Disability lift not working properly. No 4 poster bed, as advertized on the hotel's website for the Executive room. The bathroom, had a shower head laying in the bath. The poles to enable one to put the shower head on, to be able stand and shower and the poles for the shower curtain had all been removed. The holes were still visible in the wall. On showering the water went everywhere, creating a dangerous slip hazard. The lock on the door was broken, so we were unable to lock the door. The window was not able to be fully opened, as it is stopped by the curtain rail. The curtains were so long, they bunched up on the floor creating a dangerous trip hazard. The curtains are also so thin, that the minute the sun starts to rise you are woken up by the light. The wardrobe is short, The wardrobe is short, so you are unable to hang dresses in it. Asked to swap the chips that came the meal for mashed potato - no. Still chewing the last of our starters, when our 2nd course arrived. Garlic Prawns, with no finger bowl or wet wipe. Breakfast-no butter for 3 days, items from the hot selection ran out and not topped up regularly. Plates for the hot food and cereal bowls not replaced quickly enough. cheese and tomato omelette took 20 minutes to arrive and then it was just a plain omelette, no cheese or tomato. The outdoor patio/seating area tables cleared. Empty cigarette packets and overflowing ashtrays were left for days. The bill was not itemized, so I was expected to pay for 'Drinks', without knowing what drinks I was paying for. Likewise, 'Dinner', without knowing what I was paying for.
