Cheaper but challenging
Good price for N.Y. Bed was comfortable, kitchen was nice. Unit was poorly lit and floors were dirty. Tried to communicate with manager at the end of our stay (within 24 hours of checkout) and didn’t get a response. Interaction with management was personable when we did have it.

Great Location in Brooklyn
We liked it a lot here. Apartment is equipped with full kitchen (2 ovens plus two microwaves!), has a double bed and two sofas which can be converted to additional beds and exclusive access to the backyard. The neighborhood is nice and we felt safe, even when returning late at night. The subway station Nostrand Ave. is reached within 10 minutes (Express Train). The manager/owners family lives at the same house upstairs. They were always nice and helpful. Thank you John and Anthony. We'll be back some other time.

Great place for quick trip to NYC
The location is great and near the subway station! Communication with the host was great, John and his son were easily accessible when needed. The cleanliness could be better and the walls are thin but other then that the stay was great and we would definitely stay there again!
Thank you John!

Weekend visit
Overall the process of selecting the property, communicating with the owner and checking in and out was very good. The bathroom shower was terrible - tub had mold. Overall cleanliness of the unit wasn’t very good. There were no paper towels or dish towels in the kitchen. The unit was ok for having a place to sleep but wasn’t someplace we were comfortable staying in. Seems like more attention to the details, a new bathroom tub and better cleaning would make for a nicer property.

So fun!
The location was excellent, easy to get to via subway from LaGuardia with the directions John sent us. John was so great to work with. We came in later than expected and he was so understanding, great contact. The apartment was just as pictured in the ad, although we did notice some mold in the bathtub. The neighborhood was safe and the walk from the subway was easy even with our luggage. John is a great owner, always answered any questions we had very promptly. Thanks for helping make New York so fun. As others have mentioned the bathroom is just outside the apartment door, and was not an issue at all. Would recommend this apartment. In fairness we didn’t tell John about the mold so I cannot speak to whether he would have cleaned it right away, I believe he would have. We didn’t communicate this just because we were up and out early and came in late. Frankly we were just too busy, which was a good thing. Check in and out was easy.

First of all I have to thank the owner for:
1-They waited until 4 am on the following day (flight delay) even though our arrival was expected by 11 pm the previous day
2-It allowed us to deposit our bagages and still use the house until our departure which was to take place at 11 pm. We had to leave it at 11 am
THANKS in particular to your child always available.
Strategic position to move to New York.
A little tip:
the outside could be kept cleaner (the back part). We wanted to hang our clothes that we had washed but we gave up.

Nice week in New York
This was our first time in New York. We really enjoyed our stay. The subway was close to the appartement, so it was easy to get around in the city. There are also several supermarkets and restaurants in the area. The owner was very helpful.

Old School Charm Bed-Stuy Brownstone with own little back yard
Traditional Brownstone with some modern updates. Great kitchen space with lots of cupboards and prep room for meals. Your own dedicated restroom but you have to go just outside the door to your apartment to get to it. Great bonus of the ground floor space is that you get the backyard to yourself. Pleasant outdoor space with furniture to sit and lounge or grill if you like. Owner and his family were very nice, helpful and accommodating. Close, easy walking distance from subway line.

Bed-Stuy Rental
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here very much. The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen was a nice place to hang out and eat breakfast before hitting the streets. Convenient access to subway and stores. I read someone's review where they were upset about being asked to turn off the air conditioner when leaving. We were a little upset about that at first, but it turned out not to be a big deal because the air conditioner cooled the place off quickly. We had no trouble sleeping due to heat. I recommend placing the fan between the sleeping room and kitchen to draw the cool air into the kitchen area. This worked well for us. There was a smell in the entry hallway and bathroom which I found difficult to deal with, but it didn't bother my husband or son, and I did spot a roach in the bathroom on our first day. The bathroom is outside of the main living area; we kept our food in the fridge so as not to tempt any to come in to the living quarters, and I never saw another one. They are part of the environment in that neck of the woods, though, so... I would stay here again.

Great spot in Bed-Stuy
John was very helpful throughout the entire process start to finish. I arrived very late but was able to easily coordinate the check in process. The apartment is very spacious and the guest book offered a lot of valuable information.

Located in the heart of Brooklyn
We needed a place for two+ weeks close to my son in Crown Heights, and this location was excellent. The historical brownstone architecture of this home and the others up and down Hancock Street made for a lovely walk to the subway. It was a quick walk to the A and C lines, which is perfect for getting around both Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Bed-Stuy is a city neighborhood in the throes of gentrification. We found the neighborhood restaurants to be some of our favorites during our stay, with regular stops at Peaches Hot House just up the street being a highlight of our trip.
There were a couple of issues with the apartment during our stay which were managed quickly and thoroughly. Communication with the owner was open and friendly even when discussing problems. During our stay the bed frame broke and they brought in a whole new box spring and frame same day!
The place does show some wear and tear, and would benefit from some attention to detail. For the price and location, it’s a good deal. We would definitely stay again and appreciate the kindness of owners — this a true brownstone-in-Brooklyn apartment experience. An affordable and rare find inNew York.

Nice neighborhood, beautiful brownstones!
It is a nice place to stay, John and his daughter Juanita were great to help us any way possible. Clean apartment with all amenities that we needed. I would stay here again. It's walking distance to the subway, with local grocery stores, deli's, fast food, and also local neighborhood restaurants to try.

Overall average apartment with good location
Appartment was average. No cleaning for 5 days, no bed shest change, no bathroom cleaning. Despite of chilling weather there was no central heating working properly, only a small electrical heater which was not enough for bedroom. I have to put plastic all the way to cover the windows.
Only good thing is the location near to market and subway.
Definitely not ever coming back. Destroyed my whole New York trip.

need lamps
We enjoyed our stay. The only thing that we would suggest is that it would be helpful if you would put more lamps around especially next to the bed and maybe an extension cord near the bed for phones and computers. Thank you, Charlotte

Comfortable, cozy getaway
My Husband I and travel for a living and spent many nights away for home, sometimes a week at a time. We have seen just about everything there is when it comes to accommodations, away from home.
We planned a trip with our 2 teenage kids to see New York City. This place was just what we needed. It is not huge but plenty big enough for four. We did not spend much time here, as we were out sightseeing. My kids and I flew into LGA and took the bus/subway. It was very easy to find, close to transportation. My husband flew into JFK and he took public transportation also, finding it to be very easy too.
It is a basement apartment so it is a little dark, but this makes for great sleeping. It could get a bit noise from others traveling up and down the stairs, but this was just during normal hours when people are up and about. It was very clean. Kitchen is very spacious and stocked. AC Unit is in bedroom window, it does not have central air. We did not find this to be an issue, apartment temperature was very comfortable. Bedroom has 1 bed( sleeps 2) , a futon and another futon is in the kitchen/ dinning area. TV is in the bedroom so if you want to watch tv while others are sleeping, I guess this could be an issue. Bathroom is quite large, roomy, very nice and clean. It is outside of the apartment (it is not a shared bathroom), in the hall, but it is literally right out side the door to the apartment. We did not find this to be an issues what so ever.
We used public transportation , about a 10-15 min walk to the subway. We were usually out from about 10am to 10pm. We felt very safe, the people were very friendly and very helpful.
A folders with tons of information is on the kitchen counter. WIFI worked good. We did not have any phone service, that would be my complaint. We had to go outside and sit on the steps to make and receive calls.
We did have a small issue that came up with the apartment, I contacted the owner. He contacted me back and it was taken care of before we returned back to the apartment that night. I was very impressed with his prompt attention to accommodate our needs.
THIS IS A VERY NICE, SMALL, COMFORTABLE, COZY PLACE FOR A SHORT GETAWAY. I FEEL IT IS IN A SAFE AREA.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
